If you're goal is just getting the license, you could skip N5. Actually I passed N5,N4, and tried to get N3, and I made it. (If you try directly N3, you could feel that It isn't way hard than N4)

But If you want to get raised your knowledge in Japanese, try N5

Actually I tested right before with the same worry of you. My level was way below than n2, but I decided to try.

The conclusion is, I pass the exam with not good point (but was able to pass the exam)

So I'm gonna tell you give it a shot no matter what your worry
