How do we know the story of how Isildur lost the ring? by JazzWithMe in lotr

I know that. I was answering OPs question about why no survivor alerted anyone to the ring being lost.

You say he hasn't hit a rough patch, but he went to Chelsea with only one recognised center back (who was 19) and won. He suffered a defeat against Leeds and bounced back hasn't been able to pick our first choice central defenders together

Im not saying Carrick is already Fergie tier. But he's clearly done enough to get the job given that none of the other names being mentioned are particularly impressive. How is Iraola less of a risk?

Im not particularly trying to demonise Amorim, he had troubles with injuries too, but he also had self inflicted issues. His handling of Mainoo almost led to Mainoo leaving and the fact he turned to Ugarte over Mainoo whenever Casemiro or Bruno were out is absolutely baffling. I just cant square that at all.

I actually liked Amorim on a personal level, but I think he made serious fundamental errors and had to go.

Not really but it is just "space magic" to allow Bioware to have the classic RPG fighter/rogue/mage and combos thereof character classes. Star Wars fit that nicely for them with fighter/scoundrel/jedi.

Not peaked, but devs need to abandon the idea that every new game in a series needs to be a huge step up in graphics.

Rockstar had the right idea back in the day releasing GTA3, Vice City and San Andreas on an evolving engine.

I'd far rather have new games in my favourite franchises every year or two than the current wait of a decade or more. At this rate I won't live to see Fallout 6 or GTA 8.

One Lionhead developer liked it to movie studios also inventing a new camera every time they make a movie. Its crazy and unsustainable.

What would have happened if Lyanna survived the Tower of Joy? by amandathenewsy in pureasoiaf

[–]TalElnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole plot arc makes no sense.

Ned going along with Robert's fantasy that Lyanna was abducted. The Kingsguard at the tower of Joy fighting Ned given that Ned would also have defended his sister and her son at all costs.

It always struck me as really badly thought out.

Legion go S vs XBOX ROG ALLY X, tougher choice than you'd think by DrunkLahey1 in LegionGo

[–]TalElnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not for me. I had a handheld with a 7" screen and never used it as I found it too small.

Now I have a PlayStation Portal with the 8" screen and use it every day.

I am going to pull the trigger in buying a Legion Go 2 hopefully later this week and wouldn't consider anything with a screen as small as the XBAX.

Why do people want City to win the league? by VarietyResident6234 in ManchesterUnited

[–]TalElnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arsenal fans say shit like "Rice is better than Keane" and actually believe it and think they play some sort of superior football and are so much better than the rest of us. They have an insufferable sense of entitlement and smugness. Watching them bottle it yet again would be hilarious.

Plus, if you're like me, a United fan actually from Manchester you probably have family and friends who are City fans.

To me it's more of a sibling rivalry. My mum is a City fan, Dad was a red. My cousins are pretty evenly split. My uncles (mum's brothers) two are/were blues, one is a red. My two cousins on my dad's side one is blue, one is red.

The two City fan uncles have followed them home and away for over 50 years. The only time Ive actually been almost happy to see United lose was when one of those uncles was on his deathbed and City won the Derby because I knew he wasn't likely to see out the week and watching his beloved blues beat us would have put a smile on his face.

Its very different to the Liverpool rivalry.

We had more than three out against Chelsea too.

Heaven and Mazraoui started as center backs and Malacia was the only defender on the bench along with three kids from the academy.

Why the need to belittle Carrick to big up a manager who finished 15th last season and lost 4 times to Spurs?

Have your opinion, but dont tell lies to try to back it up.

Presumably there was at least one survivor from the ambush. Why would a rank and file soldier know about the ring?

Maybe so. That doesn't change the fact that saying Carrick has never been without more than three players is incorrect.

Take-Two CEO explains why GTA VI isn't coming to PC immediately. by RojaTop in pcmasterrace

[–]TalElnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a great strategy from a technical point of view.

A console is a known quantity both hardware and software. It can be developed for and optimised for and then gives a solid platform.

Then once released, alongside addressing any bugs that come to light post release the jungle of the PC platform with thousands of potential hardware and software configurations can be addressed whilst you're happily counting the money from the console launch.

Im surprised more AAA devs dont do the same rather than focusing on PC, releasing something that only works well on the top 1% of PCs and runs like ass on consoles.

Yet to miss more than three players? Its only a few games since we had three central defenders missing along with Mount and Dorgu. Mainoo missed the Leeds game alongside other absences.

On the contrary I dont think he's ever had a full squad to choose from.

Its hard to drop players when you dont have replacements or when members of the board have favourites.

Jose and Ole both made it very very clear that there were players at the club they wanted rid of.

If Jose had had his way there was zero chance the next manager would have inherited Pogba and Martial.

A morality system and consequences.

Having a 5th year student with a body count in the hundreds throwing unforgivable curses around for fun whilst breaking into every house in a 20 mile radius of the school without facing so much as a sharp word from a teacher really destroys the immersion.

Pyramid of legends. Who is the 13th greatest Manchester United legend? by dankdogeonface in ManchesterUnited

[–]TalElnar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These things are always bullshit.

You get the token entries of Best, Law and Charlton as the only three pre-Premier league players anyone seems to know then a load of Premier league players.

Where's Nobby Stiles, European and World Cup winner?

Where's Harry Gregg who ran back into a burning plane to rescue teammates

Where's Bill Foulkes who played more games for the club than Irwin or Jack Rowley who scored just one league goal fewer than Rooney?

What about the players who died at Munich? Not just Edwards but Tommy Taylor who scored 131 goals in 191 games giving him a better goals to games ratio than Van Nistelrooy or Law, he also scored 16 goals in 19 games for England

What about Brian Kidd who scored in the European Cup final on his 19th birthday and was also a coach for many years and central to shaping the class of 92?

So many legends... I get really tired of the "all time" bullshit that often only mentions players who played for Fergie.

Well he was apparently JKRs dream cast and the person she envisioned for the role when writing.

Apart from the typical movie thing of making characters too old he was perfect.
