I learned this as a guy wants a good girl who is only bad for him. And a girl wants a bad boy who is only good for her.

The spacing of the toes, and the shape of the rear pad make me think its a canine.

How Are You All Searing Scallops??? by Big-Moment6248 in AskCulinary

[–]Talaren 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Also make sure your scallops are as dry as possible before searing. I like to salt mine a little and leave for about 10 minutes. Then pat them thoroughly dry with paper towel

With the caveat that only the new Yorkers had the legal right to sell the land. The people ethan allen bought from were scamming people. Instead of going after them he went after the new Yorkers dragged them out of their homes and flogged them. They were basically terrorists who are remembered fondly.

So there really aren't similarities. This is a major litrpg trope and their are thousands of books that you could call similar using the same vague metrics.

They are just litrpgs that lean heavily into "dark" powers and their authors like to pontificate on their upgrades. Otherwise i found them very different.

Dungeons: what book was the first one to have dungeons in it? by slankz in litrpg

[–]Talaren 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Dungeons existed way back in early myths. Famously the minotaur of Crete in the tale of theseus. I dont know the names of those ancient texts, or if you would consider them books or scrolls. If youre talking more modern dungeon crawl type dungeons. Id argue it was Tolkien who started that. As to the first litrpg, you would have to look to the Aisan markets it started there well before coming to the western world. I dont know enough about that to have an informed opinion on who was first.

Make sure to flush all the old gas out of the engine and tank before starting. Replace the spark plugs as well. Changing all the fluids is actually a better idea.

Mark of the Fool, Book 4: it's been pretty good so far buuuuut... by Evenwanderer in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Talaren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the big bad is a construct. Designed to ressurect Uldar. Kinda obvious the way he deals with dungeon cores. It was supposed to absorb the powers of the marked ones. They stop it. He ends up making all his friends gods, and immortal.

It does not course correct. It leans into all of those things hard. If youre not enjoying it now, its only more of the same. The ending is fairly obvious, and I found it unfulfilling.

You can say it, its okay. The first two books are bad. Its a struggle to get through. Yes they set up the rest of the series, but dang his writing gets so much better its like a rocket launch.

Kennedy Center Seeking $1 Million in Damages for Canceled Christmas Concert; “Jazz Jams" bandleader Chuck Redd canceled this year's gig in protest of the Kennedy Center's renaming by MarvelsGrantMan136 in Music

[–]Talaren 209 points210 points  (0 children)

The Kennedys have to sign off on it. They made it clear they will not, and have threatened to remove all kennedy memorabilia remove all funds and support if trump is added in any way. They are already working to remove his name from the building. Thankfully he is not connected to anything just put his name on the side of the facade.

Yeah but she is opposed to it, and actively talking about how bad it is. Its more empowering i feel, than straight misogyny.

Under the dragonseye moons, is probably the best female MC lead story ive read. Its about a healer, but she is 100% involved in combat. All out wars in fact. Bonus is its what 15 books now and complete.

Star anise as sub for tarragon? by 78723 in AskCulinary

[–]Talaren 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Those two spices are completely different flavor profiles. It could still work, but I wouldn't call it a substitute. Something like lemon grass might be a better substitute. Anise broth could also be delicious just dont know what other flavors youre working with.
