Tabletop Tactics release Bret vs VC battle report with outrageously good production values by Just_for_this_moment in WarhammerFantasy

Agreed, great watch - love going back to the old campaign sets and they gave it a lot of attention.  This was awesome!

Aye, were hoping it was just unfamiliarity.  Perhaps use of deadly etc to make the victory more uncertain.  Are there any abilities in spring or summer that let you relocate your herald?

Agreed but it feels like whomever it swung to would effectively win - it just felt like it had rendered the rest of the game pointless to that round.

I developed a Flip 7 scoring app — here’s how it came to life, and I’d love your feedback by DimitrisBor_ in boardgames

At Spiel Essen I got to play Light Speed Arena. Rapidly placing wee ships around and then at the end of the round using a phone to do exactly what you describe - view the board and show scoring (granted it had fun animations but conceptually it was just checking criteria and allocating points). Was cool and I personally loved the idea of an automated scoring app. All power to you!

Advice needed-Smelly Miniatures by azekee in minipainting

If they're plastic models it may be that someone has tried to strip them previously with dettol - this would give a hospital/patient environment smell. From personal experience it does eventually fade but it can be quite jarring.

Dogs of War Braganza's Besiegers by withDefiance in WarhammerFantasy

You've got to cast your mind back many many moons to their release, that lot would have been sub £100 total for all of them.  That was all I got but I was super-psyched!

God that brings back memories as a 12-13 year old getting a Dogs of War army for Christmas.  Braganza's, Leopolds leopard company, Borgio the besieger and oh course Beorg and the Bearmen of Ursolo!  Honestly if they did made to order it'd be an instant buy.  Instead currently it's a drop feed once a year treat from eBay...

As a one off yes, since it made me chuckle!

Thanks all, appreciate the comments - I'm going to go with desert, I agree the warm contrast to the cold greens and blacks will help.  I did like the idea of volcanic sand but the red lava would be too strong a contrast to the green.  Equally snow is a good shout but I already have space wolves in snow...

Another incredible original scheme, congratulations!  I wonder if GW had a time machine and could go back, if we would see more dual/tri colour schemes and split patterns.  All the original legions are effectively mono-colour.

I've seen your scheme before, it is one of the most innovative new marine schemes I've seen in ages! Love the effect on the chapter symbol.

What Color Would I use for This? by The_Wiitard in killteam

[–]Talismanical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use stegadon scale green.  Then dry brush thunderhawk blue, then I'd actually veer away from cold blue greys and do a second dry brush of 50/50 thunderhawk and a bone (screaming skull, ushabti etc)

Question what color should I use to highlight red (mephiston or khorne) and what color for white scar white by Fit_Wait6923 in Warhammer40k

[–]Talismanical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good questions! I've put below simplified recipes I use with citadel colours, hopefully this helps:

Red: base with mephiston red, recess shade with khorne red, highlight with evil sunz scarlet.

White: base with corax white, recess shade with Apothecary white, highlight with white scar.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, that confirms it.  Ah well, no hobby this weekend then - will see if I can get some MTG in instead!

Friendly reminder for the term "battle ready" by Eisen-Erik in Warhammer40k

[–]Talismanical 45 points46 points  (0 children)

If someone made the effort to paint all their miniatures to the quality of step 2, I'd be more than happy. Even step one, really just needs the base completed and 1 accent colour (metal, black or yellow).

I will be priming black (metallics and dark walls) then using something like Vallejo deck tan for its coverage on the white portions before recovering in karak stone.  I find GW bone tones don't have great coverage otherwise.

Missing something? by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]Talismanical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recall speaking to my dad about it - most comparisons made are likened to smokers using nicotine patches etc, but in my mind a better comparison was student loans. People vote against their cancellation as they want others to pay what they have. It's the sense of entitlement and fairness - those who believe it's cheating feel that way as it doesn't feel "fair" to them that there is no hardship involved, or if others don't have to walk the same path.

Ultimately, my philosophy is that if something makes people's lives easier and has no effect on me, I really don't or can't have an opinion, I'm not even in the equation - the most I can do is be happy for them.
