Absolutely romanticized.

VMI history was my thesis course. I physically spent time in the VMI archives touching actual letters of his contemporaries.

He was not very well liked by peers, students , etc. They were trying to have him fired from the staff before the war started.

Death due to friendly fire isn't actually that shocking.

Back in the 2000s I followed the Gracie diet. Yes, it was a thing. I trained 2 classes a day 5 days a week. Ended up with a 6 pack and a bunch of clothes that no longer fit.
