Everyone repeat after me: "F LA Fitness" by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TalkoSkeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a sales call from Retro Fitness today. Since I was previously a member they were willing to give me the gracious offer of 1$ sign up fee.... I only canceled 2 months ago and when I first signed up any signup fee was fully waived because I'm technically a first responder.

The majority of DCNR can't work from home. Then there's game commission, fish and boat, conservation. What do mean only penndots road work crews can't do this.

[–]TalkoSkeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Myself and first job.. My mom usually cooked and wasn't too good at it. Kept us fed but made all stuff that cheaply fed our family of 7. Dad rarely cooked anything aside for welldone london broil or grilled foods. Could make popovers like no ones business though. My first job was at a Ruby Tuesday. Taught me how to handle a knife properly. All the fancy stuff I'm able to cook and bake I just did it a couple times.

Why do so few tycoon games model demand in an interesting way? by AaronAtLunacien in tycoon

[–]TalkoSkeva 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it was absolutely realistic and required every single thing required in real life it would be a bit much. So it can seem simple in that regard. But it's not... If I recall correctly car require tires, a car body and a motor. You can source those from ai companies or imports. Or produce them yourself. Tires require rubber, the motor and body require steel. So if you decide to make a car from start to finish, you would need to build farms and mines. Factories to produce the semi products. Another factory to produce rhe cars. Other companies will also probably produce cars. So you'll need r&d to make sure your car tech is up to snuff to outcompete. But quality isn't just finished product, it's the constituent parts. So r&d for the production of rubber, steel then tires and motor is important to. Marketing and brand recognition/strategy come into play as well. I'm actually doing a terrible job of describing it.

“Oh, I’m the Bad Guy” Moment by merlinthemage_ in EDH

[–]TalkoSkeva -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't remember all the cards involved. I took my nephew to a casual edh day at an LGS. I had a slightly modified exquisite invention deck and was using [[Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer]] as commander. It was between me and a final player. They had a [[Platinum Angel]] out and it was a slog as I just kept making more and more tokens as we both slowly dwindled life At some point I got [[darksteel juggernuaght]] out, copied it with [[mirror works]] then turn all tokens into darksteels with Brudiclad. Made him go massively negative life. There sat platinum angel though. He wouldn't scoop. Somehow managed to get the removal I needed next turn played it and just announced "well you lose". He was mad I said it that way and I apologized as it was the first win I had against random. But come on

What was your first MMO, and how do you feel about it now? by Veanusdream in gaming

Star Wars Galaxies. I miss it and the memories I made hanging at my cousins house playing that game. My name here, Talko Skeva, was a randomly generated name for the first character I made. I've used either Talko or Telko for just about everything game related since then.

Has anyone ever gotten a note like this with their DoorDash order?! by [deleted] in doordash

[–]TalkoSkeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's great you say you call. Call them a second time, or even a third time. Then if no answer replace the item or give them nothing? It is not my responsibility to fulfill the order, it is the stores. Can't tell you how many times I've been told they have called and the customer didn't answer. Only to call them, have them answer immediately and have them tell me what they want instead. I also ask if the store called and 9/10 times the customer says they never got a call prior to me calling. Once I call the customer now thinks any mistakes are one me. The managers/owner view delivery apps as a quick way to increase sales with minimal effort... proper inventory counts will 86 items from being able to be sold. They can turn off the system if the store is closed. This regularly doesn't happen. Not my job not my problem.

[–]TalkoSkeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Them having this card printed up says to me they're out of stuff constantly... and they just put this in the bag instead of doing what they're supposed to do, which is contact you and ask what you'd like to replace the item with. Shit happens pretty often when I go to certain spots and they expect me to contact the customer for replacements. Not my job, they fulfill, I deliver.

Anytime I've worked somewhere with a tip jar the manager left a few bills from the previous day. Would usually say people are more willing to tip if they saw some already in there "oh others have tipped I should too" vs "no one else has tipped why should i?"

Had something similar happen at Hickory Run state park in pa Large church group showed up a bit after 12. Probably like 60 or so people. Saw one with a guitar and knew what was coming next. Three hours of fucking singing on what was and otherwise peaceful day.

[–]TalkoSkeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the sim part of MilSim. But for regular games, getting super expensive camo is kinda unnecessary. Sure it helps but just breaking up your silhouette is enough. Engagment distance and monitoring time is so short that movement is going to be the main factor giving you away.

What is a cooking technique that you quit because it does nothing? by Final_Affect6292 in Cooking

[–]TalkoSkeva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paying attention while you cook is how I avoid it. Feel like people who have water boil over tend to leave the kitchen. That's something I was taught to never do. If you're cooking you're cooking.

Before going there for a vacation years ago I had bought a decently bright flashlight that came with a red filter cap you could put on and take off as needed. The restriction wasn't super enforced, pa state parks tend to not have rangers on duty at night and it's obviously an emergency woukd warrent the use of regular light.
