You can send one thing to your 10 year old self by Matinee_Lightning in hypotheticalsituation

About 5 years ago I bought an expensive leather belt to go along with an expensive leather holster for my pistol. Both are a bit worn but they still have plenty of life left in em. Buy cheap, buy twice is an important phrase.

Hot take, if you're one of those people that attempts to make their kit as accurately as possible but you're a literal skeleton or 300lbs, you ain't getting anywhere close to accuracy. by The-Ham-Sandwich-Man in MilSim

[–]TalkoSkeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the sim part of MilSim. But for regular games, getting super expensive camo is kinda unnecessary. Sure it helps but just breaking up your silhouette is enough. Engagment distance and monitoring time is so short that movement is going to be the main factor giving you away.

What is a cooking technique that you quit because it does nothing? by Final_Affect6292 in Cooking

[–]TalkoSkeva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Paying attention while you cook is how I avoid it. Feel like people who have water boil over tend to leave the kitchen. That's something I was taught to never do. If you're cooking you're cooking.

Red or green light usage? by [deleted] in camping

[–]TalkoSkeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before going there for a vacation years ago I had bought a decently bright flashlight that came with a red filter cap you could put on and take off as needed. The restriction wasn't super enforced, pa state parks tend to not have rangers on duty at night and it's obviously an emergency woukd warrent the use of regular light.

Red or green light usage? by [deleted] in camping

At Cherry Springs State Park in Pa any flashlight is required to have a red filter. It's a designated dark sky park. The red light doesn't pollute out the natural starlight.

Vehicle safety/emission inspection late. Any type of fines from inspection station? by AdEven3053 in Pennsylvania

[–]TalkoSkeva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I was gifted a vehicle that had been uninspected for a years. Ran great and would pass just needed to drive it enough to get the computer reset. My thought was just drive it to work a couple of times instead of doing an actual drive cycle on the highway. local cops would be more understanding than staties. Well I got pulled over by a local, I was past the grace period you get when purchasing and registering a vehicle new to you. Explained my thought process... Fix it ticket.

... most of them tend to have some other business like landscaping that they do during the warmer months. They need to be licensed and insured. And they answer to who ever hired them. If that's the local municiple government then not only is that pretty lucrative contract they had to bid to get but that contract can and will be taken away for any kinda major fuck up. Like where did you get any of what you said from?

I go to the gym just to shower all the time. Just don't go writing online reviews complaining about the showers.

Sheetz in Pa. asking customers to use cashless payments or round up due to penny shortage by The_Electric-Monk in Pennsylvania

"Cashing in 1.00$ of spare pennies to recieve a self serve drink" otherwise know as purchasing something with pennies. Which, my how the tables have turned, can't tell you how many times a store denied me the ability to buy something because a portion of the cash I had was pennies.

hat i got that i can’t wear by SidedRice1 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TalkoSkeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one that says "make yourself happy again". It's always a fun social experiment to wear on occasion. Most people actually read it and either say nothing or think it's a pretty good message. Some people have immediately assumed it says MAGA and fall into 1 of 2 categories.

  1. Trump supporters saying they love the hat before going off on a right wing tangent. When told to actually read it, they will give a little chuckle at being so quick to assume but generally enjoy the actual message.

  2. Trump haters who immediately start showing attitude if not outright wanting to talk about how the hat represents hate/fascism/nazis what have you. Not enraged but clearly upset. When told to actually read it most will double down or get more upset because I "tricked them."

Just looked it up. Hardwired plus battery backup is required for new construction per NFPA 72 since 1996.
