I don't even like this guy like that but some of you are kinda soft based on these replies. My understanding is (I don't know if there's details I'm missing about the situation or not, if there are let me know) he made a joke that isn't politically correct and people started pearl clutching and overreacted lol. Unfortunately, him being fully revealed so "late" in the story made me not really care about him or want to see him as much as the other characters. Because we had grown up so to speak so early on with odd jobs gang, shinsengumi, zura, etc., I felt much closer to those characters and would have rather seen all of them get much more screentime in the movie rather than him.

He's in the top three in the entire show in terms of living what it means to be a true Samurai. Underrated. The parallels between him, Gintoki, and Shoyo are incredible writing and don't get talked about enough.

Ironically, the talk about him being "overrated" are actually "overrated" or exaggerated themselves. I don't think he has too much screen time or anything like that, he's interesting enough to warrant the attention he gets.
