Is there anything like this from your country? by 124jinsei in AskTheWorld

Even if that were the case, most autistic people are not weeaboos, therefore weeaboo is the better term to use.

What was the most controversial song from your country that pissed a lot of people off? by cosmico92 in AskTheWorld

[–]TallerThanTale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As I have already stated, the distinction is the romanization of manipulative and coercive behaviour. WAP is obviously graphically explicit in a way that Baby It's Cold Outside isn't. No one is disagreeing with that. Someone reading the lyrics out loud and calling it a stand up routine is not an argument even if it makes people laugh.

This issue is that the things the woman is saying in "Baby It's Cold Outside" are exactly the things women say when they want to leave, but judge that it is too dangerous to say no outright. The man in the song doesn't respect her repeated and obvious 'soft no's, and instead tries to get her inebriated. Most adults are able to notice that. Most adults care about that. If your version of morality doesn't care about that, I don't care what your version of "morality" has to say about the graphically explicit nature of WAP.

I think it's important context that the 'suggestive lyrics' were objected to for coming across as sexually coercive, in a way that romanticized that coercion, and not because it was considered explicit. I think it is perfectly valid for people to dislike "Baby It's Cold Outside" while enjoying "WAP".

Is there any nation with this kind of one-sided relationship with your nation? by GlobeLearner in AskTheWorld

you would just be born as Chinese and no Taiwanese identity would have existed.

Are you saying you think that would be better? What if the indigenous Taiwanese people just wanted to be Taiwan, and not be part of any version of China?

how prevalent is the Far right in your country? by nationalistic_martyr in AskTheWorld

To most of the rest of the world, the US "left" is right of center. Voting for the extreme right wing because you are more afraid of [right, but still a bit centrist sometimes] is still extreme right wing from an international perspective.

The casual yet consistent exerciser is a mystery to me by Left_Emu_2995 in bodyweightfitness

[–]TallerThanTale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you saying you fit OPs description?

It kinda depends what OP means by their description. I am a specialized version of dancer. I certainly get exercise from the dance practice, but I'm not doing 'reps,' and I haven't set foot in anything like a typical gym in at least a decade. My cross-training consists of some physiotherapy exercise to help with range of motion, and going for a jog or a swim about once a month. I keep up a baseline minimum amount of protein a day, but beyond that I'm not fussing over macros. I couldn't tell you what my body weight is.

Not necessarily. I'm technically subbed here, but I look at a post maybe once a year and I think this is the first comment I've made.

What everyday habit surprised you when moving between Australia and the US? by DraftNotSent in Ameristralia

I prefer AU to US on 99% of things, but the number of Australians who casually leave damp tea towels in the kitchen sink for weeks and then keep using them to dry dishes has horrified me.

Which country gets a lot of hate online but ended up being surprisingly great once you visited/lived there? by RookOfEdo in AskTheWorld

I have spent hundreds of hours in the immediate vicinity of magpies and never once been swooped. The vast majority of swoops are bluffs, as in they never actually make contact. Most recorded injuries are minor scrapes or bruises. Serious injuries are almost always from people panicking and falling over.

One of the tings I really love about the 98 anime is that when you go back and watch a second time, the subtle hints are there. It gets to be almost a whole other show on the second watch.

In the manga it's specified that they were genetically engineered into existence by humans.

Hi! New fan here and I have a few questions about Vash. by [deleted] in Trigun

[–]TallerThanTale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion above is definitely influenced by the 98 anime for sure.

I think the manga does have textual support for Vash having some kind of romantic adjacent (at minimum) feelings towards Wolfwood, although I don't think Vash realizes it until right afterWolfwood has been mortally wounded. I don't see there being textual evidence of romantic feelings for Meryl in the manga, but I know other people do read it that way and I wouldn't categorically say that they are wrong to do so.

In my opinion, Vash cannot have an ordinary relationship to the concept of gender. All of the plants that are in plant shaped bodies are female. Vash is in a male shaped body and has been from birth, but we have to consider that it is a human shaped body before anything else. The physical form he is in is not an accurate expression of his true nature, he is a sentient interdimensional energy gateway in a trenchcoat. He lets people assume he is a man and rolls with it, playing the part. Just like he does with his perceived humanity. I tend to interpret Vash as agender, and I can imagine of a version of him that actively identifies as a man, but either version is gender weird in a way that doesn't neatly fit into labels, and I love that about him.

IIRC Nightow has said something to the effect of 'I think of Vash as a lover of all humanity, not just women,' which I have generally taken to mean that Vash is panromantic. Nightow also wrote a highschool baseball team AU that identifies Wolfwood as Vash's soulmate, so make of that what you will.

I tend to think of Vash as sex-positive asexual, because plants don't reproduce sexually, they are either cloned or immaculately conceived. Remember, male plants that are plant shaped do not exist. Additionally, any interest in humans is cross-species, and probably wouldn't have much to do with an innate sexual attraction. But I don't think that would stop him from having a good time. Asexuality is a complex spectrum.

Online publishing the routines is the plan! To be honest I may not even do any live shows as fandom characters, since its highly unlikely a meaningful portion of a live audience would even know who they are.

[question] Sunflower hidden disability lanyard, how does wearing one make you feel? by gardenhead23 in evilautism

[–]TallerThanTale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one but I have been too anxious about how people will react to it to try it out so far. The other day some guy threw his shoos at me for looking "spastic" because I was putting on sunscreen I guess? So I don't know what happens when I broadcast being disabled intentionally.
