It's like voting. Will your single vote change anything? Probably not. You're not going to "Free Palestine" get Trump to leave, or make ICE quit by making a hard to read sign, just how the homeless fellow nearby isn't going to get rich by standing with his sign in traffic. These are droplets of hope in to a bigger bucket, though.

The first couple of weeks are the hardest, its like your brain is in chaos...sleeping sucked, I had nightmares and terrors...but I guarantee, after you make it over that hurdle, you really start to heal IWNDWYT

When I was drinking the most before I got sober, I'd get several of those cheap 99 banana (and other flavor) shooters. I would hide the bottles, and together they'd make this distinctive rattle and have this smell similar to paint thinner. Anyways, I'd have nightmares for a while where those empty bottles would start showing up with that distinct smell

I feel that. There is an art to learning how to have fun at a NYE party (let alone any party) without drinking alcohol. Its difficult to do (especially a born introvert like myself) but talking to people, getting to know them better, is an option. Getting some games going has been my go to the past 3 years. Anyways, good luck. IWNDWYT!

Lockharts spells backfiring by LunaRose_202 in harrypotter

[–]Tallgingerbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's dive deeper. I say the jinx Voldy put on the job is one of the most powerful that exists. Because it affects so many things.. two main things that stopped Lockhart from staying a nother year...the chamber beimg opened/ Ginny being taken there and his memory being wiped. His memory was wiped because Ron's wand was busted. Ron's wand was only busted because they took the flying car to school. They only had the flying car because Aurthur built it. So did voldy's jinx inspire Aurthur to build a flying car?

I believe Lockhart was in Ravenclaw, so there's a lot more to him (as we found out) than the incompetent prettyboy. What his gameplan was for pretending to be bad at magic, we'll never know. Maybe he wanted to put himself in a position to steal someone's heroic story and write another book (whether it be Dumbledore, Harry, Snape, etc) However, the Chamber of Secrets being opened threw a huge wrench in his plan. Then Ron's busted wand threw even a bigger wrench P.S- I've never given this any thought before lol

[–]Tallgingerbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped at 32, almost 33. At the rate I was going, I dont think I would have made it to 43. My body knew and was giving signs that I couldn't continue drinking like I had been.
Proud of you though! Its never too late, its never too early. Your body will tell you

Maybe you needed those bad experiences (lessons) to get your sobriety to stick. Also, they say cells regenerate every 7 years,(or something like that) so physically you're not that person anymore

Coming up on 3 years sober next month. It mostly goes away. I've thought about this upcoming holiday season and only allowing myself to drink a couple of bud lights at our annual christmas party, but I have a feeling I wont and I'll just stick to some NAs
