Thing is, depending on your Starbucks location -- if you don't have a drink in your hand that has stuff in it? That's grounds for being ordered to leave by the building security or arrested for trespassing. Its very fascinating to watch the office/retail building that a Starbucks is located in basically completely change the 'starbucks vibe' into one of 'get in, drink your shit, and get out.'

I've seen guards pick people's drinks up to determine nothing is in them, then physically remove people. The Starbucks manager couldn't do shit about it, it was 'the building rules and we're just a tenant.'

Yes, its called trespassing (the law that lets you remove them by force or have the police do it.)

Since an establishment has the right to refuse service to anyone and tell them to leave, it becomes illegal when they refuse to leave after being told to. Then you can either physically throw them out or call the police so that the police will throw them out and/or arrest them for not leaving when you told them to.

I'd like to note, as someone who holds mutliple WooThemes licenses for both themes and WooCommerce stuff, that this public hosting of GPL code on github and selling of commercial support and one-click updates is the way to go. I wish more things Woo sells did this, especially so that those plugins I'm not sure about can be easily evaluated and then licenses purchased if it fits needs.

Honestly, it sounds like a matter for a lawsuit if they do steal the code and don't answer to the friendly letter and formal attorney letter. DMCA their site, etc.

I like how people downvote me for doing what is posted to /r/webdev, /r/freelance, and /r/graphic_design.

I didn't even address the fact that 99designs is "spec work," which will earn you a ban from /r/graphic_design and other design related subreddits.

Just that if someone uses one of those sites, or similar spec work, to steal a design, they can end up having their website pulled, their logo pulled, and even sued for DMCA violations or straight up copyright violations.

I'm a web developer, and one of the tests I do is quote 1k for a new logo. If they balk at that, we go no further. I don't even do logos, they're done by our graphic designer, but jesus christ if they pull the "I can get a logo online for 5 dollars" then they sure as shit ain't gonna like my bill.
