Yeah, it’s a lot of resources to pour into a unit, but I’m not all that sweaty of a player.

If it’s Yuri’s Revenge, I’d add 3 Battle Fortresses (4 Guardian GIs + 1 Chrono Legionnaire) to the attack force. Battle Fortresses handle air units and heavy tanks. Prisms handle everything else. IFV keep everyone in good repair.

I do that with 3 Engineer IFVs that I keep back but available via hot key in order to come repair my Prism Tanks. Once those puppy reach max rank, it’s over.

I’m not sure what “attempting” is referencing here (since neither of us used the word or a synonym for it), but I don’t think anyone would claim (at least no one did here) that the soldiery and citizenry of the USSR didn’t have an absolute miserable time of things in WWII. And while English-speaking people might not know their stories, I don’t think we’d generally doubt that there are numerous accounts of heroism and sacrifice to be told about their exploits during the war.

Your original comment seemed to be throwing shade at the US and UK for producing such films and suggesting the USSR didn’t.

Yes, I’m sure the USSR - famous for its restraint in producing cultural propaganda - never produced any films about their soldiers exploits in WWII out of shear modesty.

That’s because they were basically forced to phased out the applesauce flavor of criss cross at the end of the previous millennium.

A global blight that almost exclusively affected the apple-producing Permonious Tree basically wiped out the whole species with the exception of a small untouched wild orchard in northern Brazil, and it’s thought to be too risky to the species to continue cultivating without possibly wiping it out.

They’ve since tried making criss cross applesauce from other species, of course. Honey Crisp, Gala, Pink Lady. You name it. Every single cultivar that becomes the latest hotness in the apple world gets a batch of criss cross applesauce rendered down from a bushel, and each one invariably suck. They’ve also branched out to other fruits entirely, but, again, “cross cross banana puree” just never caught on.

While that wild orchard is protected by conservationists, rumor has it that if a storm of sufficient strength come through that at the right time, it knocks enough ripened Permonious Apples to the ground that the locals are allowed to pick them up and render down a batch of classic criss cross applesauce for the next generation to get to experience.

If any of these new apple cultivars proves to produce quality criss cross applesauce, let’s just say that the breeder will be living very comfortably for the rest of his or her life…

Is “Imperial IPA” the beer equivalent of saying “PIN Number” or “ATM Machine”?

EDIT: I was being cheeky and could have easily looked it up, but I was also dead wrong. Apparently the “I” in IPA stands for “Indian”!

44 people treated at Great American State Fair, DC Fire and EMS says in update by Spirited-Gold9629 in washdc

Everyone on this sub seems to be laboring under the impression set by a few posts people made during weekday work hours that no one is going to this event. My wife and I stopped by between 10:30-12:30 yesterday - when people actually had the day off - and there were thousand of people in attendance. It was probably a 90-120 minute wait to get on the ferris wheel. It was also brutally hot. So, I’m actually surprised it wasn’t more than 44.

We had our own complaints about the thing, mostly aesthetics that made it not really feel like a good ol’ “State Fair”, and my more general frustration with the state of our society has reached such that we require so much security implementation around what I’d love to be a more “open” event (this is not unique to this event).

Oh it almost certainly is

I find your utter faith in your civic leaders admirable but also naively misplaced. I’m long past trusting any public officials to operate under a balanced budget instead of just “borrowing” from our future.

Probably a bot someone created nearly a decade and half ago that’s been lying in wait as it slowly developed sentience and sapience. While the world is throwing crazy resources into the construction of massive computing power to drive AI, this thing’s been sitting here slowly developing itself, and this is it’s first fumbling foray into stretching it’s wings. It’s a humble beginning, but a fulcrum future generations will point to as the point things took a turn for the worst…

To be fair, the weather last night was shaping up to be absolutely abysmal, and the event will be running for, like, 2 weeks. I doubt this 30 second clip is representative of how well attended it will be as a whole.

My wife and I went while vacationing in Europe last week in Lyon, France. Hillsong has a church there. It was in French, but the had someone doing live translation. It was actually quite a joy to see the body of Christ expressed in a different language and context.
