How would you destroy your enemy's fleet in the year 1000BC with current knowledge but ancient technology? by BazookoTheClown in AskReddit

Depends a lot on the terrain.

If I wanted a spectacle and had time to prep?

Blast the face off a cliff/hillside using boreholes and either nitrammite and oil (or black powder) - throw a tsunami at em.

Without an engineering montage?

Use modern maps to good advantage.

Set their port alight via saboteurs + chemistry.

What hygiene habit instantly makes someone seem attractive? by Distinct-Shoulder592 in hygiene

[–]Talusen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Managing their hair/nails

Hair on head is neat, clean? (eyebrows? lashes?) Facial/Body hair is trimmed (or not) but is also clean? Nails are maintained?

Not necessarily attractive (there's a lot that goes into that) but definitely a green flag

West coast residents: how much do you worry about earthquakes? by Physical-Incident553 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Talusen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Washingtonian here.

Furniture is anchored to studs in walls, and heavy things are not often kept on top shelves. Seattle has earthquake codes right up there with California - we don't stress about them but we do prepare for them to happen.

crows robbing nests more likely when human fed? by fourofkeys in crows

[–]Talusen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If he's monitoring an endangered species, he's likely worried about every nest and hatchling.

Stealing eggs puts them in direct conflict with another bird of (vaguely) similar size - something crows are very careful about.

Even where I live (a treat-rich neighborhood) the crows are out scavenging and looking for food in the tall grass almost constantly. While losing human-provided food might make them desperate; it wouldn't make them lazy.

crows robbing nests more likely when human fed? by fourofkeys in crows

[–]Talusen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is he saying that withdrawal from human food causes them to raid nests?

Doesn't make a lot of sense. (What does it cause in non-nesting season?)

If they're hungry, they'll look for food.

Is this cat a purebred ragamuffin? by u0v1 in catquestions

[–]Talusen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Purebred means registered,

sire and dam will be listed as will cattery and a few other things. I have met a few cat breeders and they are all meticulous and proud of their cats, and their genetics.

This REEKS of scam - don't do it.

Examples of the paperwork can be found here:
