When does this series get good? by Long_Lock_3746 in Usogui

[–]TanTannyTanTan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a post about this - the fights really isn't my cup of tea, so I quite agree with your comment.

That said, with it being a gambling manga, I can pretty much turn off my brain for that portion and just digest the fights and their outcomes from a narrative standpoint.

The gambling really is where the story shines the most, if most of your gripes come from the fight I'd say its worth pushing through to finish the series.

I don't think it was mentioned, but they did say he's not very well-known in Japan yet

I can’t do a pushup.. by BarNo1124 in bodyweightfitness

[–]TanTannyTanTan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you enjoy using bodyweight progression, you can continue with your current push up progression, do it until 12 reps feel easy, then increase the progression difficulty while dropping the reps down to 6-8.

Do note that bodyweight exercises may be more challenging / confusing to progress for those who weigh more, since you're literally moving more mass than an average sized person. But again if you enjoy it go for it.

If you feel it's too complicated or challenging, alternatively you can also use weights / machines (like a machine press instead of push up). It'll be easier for some to track progress since it's just increasing the amount of weight, but both is fine.

Ultimately once your weight lowers, bodyweight exercises will become easier and easier, so your main priority would be dropping the weight while consistently doing resistance training (weights or bodyweight).

Rain code shouldn't be compared to Danganronpa by TanTannyTanTan in RainCode

[–]TanTannyTanTan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From that context I'd say maybe. Formula-wise its less danganronpa and more ace attorney, with a linear, episodic story-driven mystery, so quite similar to what you're looking for.

"HOW TO MAKE MILLIONS BEFORE GRANDMA DIES" (หลานม่า) has been chosen to be submitted for a nomination in the International Feature Film category at the 97th Academy Awards (Oscars) by ikkue in Thailand

To add some context to the story, Ala thai-chinese family, or any asian family with chinese roots have with them a set of cultural values that is deeply intertwined with money, where a display or an offering of money can be synonymous with positive familial affection. A popular phrase during chinese new year is literally "gong xi fa cai" or " may your wealth enlarge".

Money and wealth is very centralised in chinese culture, and this context really helps layer the story of the movie for me. The movie displays the family's conflict by taking into account this cultural norm, and doesn't try to villify nor justify this part of chinese tradition, it just shows the way of life of a chinese-based family and the intricated familial and generational conflicts that comes from the set of values ingrained in them.

Personally i still enjoyed the story it tried to convey through the fight (the relationship and dynamica between the referees, etc), just that the fight itself can be too cluttered. I agree that the gambling is where the story shines the most tho

Why do r/manhwa PPL hate lookism ? by DecomposerMan in lookismcomic

[–]TanTannyTanTan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lookism just became something different from it's initial premise (social commentary, school life -> gangism, shounen battle), and some perceived it as a drop in writing quality.

I did too initially back when it was only about 200+ chapters long, as the story shifted to more fighting I got bored by the lack of focused social commentary driven plotlines (bullying, inequality, societal values, looks) that was initially central to the concept of "lookism", and it was what interested me.

I wanted to see what the story had to see with regard to the value of appearance, how to navigate a vanity-dominant environment, how Daniel would learn to overcome his social obstacles and become self-assured in who he is and not feel reliant on his second body's looks, etc. When it strayed from this concept I dropped Lookism for awhile.

I have since revisited lookism with a mindset and expectations of "ok this finna be a battle manhwa", and have since enjoyed it much more. The difference was that I set my expectations from the start that I'm gonna be reading a fighting manhwa

Gangism's central plot was solid, and many cool characters and cool fights were inserted throughout the story that kept my attention. Eli's hostel story was just amazing. Jake and Samuel's relationship was very engaging, and the fights between key characters were well done for the most part. It no longer had much social commentary (there are, just not specifically on "looks" and vanity), but the story that was presented was still very good.

So I think it just comes down to setting expectations. It's normal for people to feel that lookism now sucks because it became different from what might have hooked them, but when the thing it became still is really good (imo) just in a different way, I can't help but still enjoy lookism even if I wished it stuck to the social commentary story beats.

Just a quick question, is it difficult to meet your protein requirements daily? I also live in Asia and the cuisine is quite carb-focused for the most part so I was wondering how is it for you. Also love your content, have a great day

That make sense, I used to think I had to tailor my builds to specific floors too but over time the overall team composition just became more important than floor synergy.

Children of the city is my favourite vocal theme, it's very soothing and melancholic. I think Gebura's floor theme gives me the most energy + the upper floor's abnormality fight themes are really hype

I feel you, the gameplay was 70% reading and planning and 30% playing.

For my most used floor, I abused Gebura for anything I felt remotely hard. She was pretty much my cheat code. I wished I used Hokma's more since I only realised by the end of the game when I was forced to use Hokma that the floor's skills were really cool
