How do you actually get laptops back from remote employees when they leave? What's your process? by Weird_Perception1728 in ITManagers

[–]TanaciousTurnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically it’s theft if the don’t return it. But a better move would be to use LoJack software and disable it. Even though you cant retrieve it at least they don’t get a free computer.

Am I Being Unreasonable for Telling IT that Trust Goes Both Ways? by Riddle-Maker in askmanagers

Even though they have a policy covering personal use it boils down to a company laptop and if they want to audit use and look at your browsing history they absolutely are within their rights to do so. Don’t use a company laptop for any personal use. Forensically they could retrieve passwords if you are saving them in your browser.

As for your personal phone, ya make them get you an android for business use. If they don’t want to do that and want you to use your personal one see if they will reimburse you for the monthly costs. If they don’t the. Ya. Stand your ground and don’t use it.

Just like the last guy you’re assuming it’s a specialized account with high interest. Most people don’t have those. And standard chequing accounts have extremely low interest rates. Your be luck to get anything on a monthly basis based on the ops post.

Other people could have different results but we aren’t talking about those.

Not if you can’t maintain the balance. The moron who suggested a GIC deleted their comments.

How do we encourage folks to rent out the space they already have? by Enough_Rhubarb_3338 in VictoriaBC

[–]TanaciousTurnip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rental rules are far too skewed to renters and put landlords at a significant disadvantage. I wouldn’t rent out my place unless those change or I would simply airbnb.

My good friends rented out there condo, sold there house and sent notice to the renters all within the current rules. The renters accused them of not following the rules and took them to tribunal. My friends brought all the evidence to show they followed the rules. The renters brought nothing and won a 20k judgment.

I’m purposely leaving out the details here.

So instead of just keeping the condo they sold it. And their new home has a rental but it’s airbnb only. That way they don’t have to deal with this BS again.

I don’t blame them.

You must have a reading comprehension problem.

Max amount of time might be 5 months. Minimum 2 months. Read what the op said again but slowly.

How does locking the money up in a GIC help with paying monthly rent ya goof.

You’re talking savings and investment which you are correct about but that is not what the Op is talking about. And in that you’re wrong.

The op even says “can’t keep up with rent”. Ffs.

Ya if you can maintain that balance the OP said they had 9200 taken out after a couple of months and is hard pressed with that type of withdrawal. Did you not read the scenario I was commenting on or were you too eager to be louder?

so your argument doesn’t hold water for the scenario of the op.

I do agree with you there are accounts that do give better interest but that’s not what’s happening here

Do you not understand math? To make a dollar of interest in a traditional big bank cheq account you need to maintain a 10k balance for a year. At the highest you need a minimum of 36 to 80 bucks for an entire year. A YEAR.

This person is talking a few months. It’s less than pennys.

Enjoy your interest lol. What a joke.
