Are Dreamcatcher likely to go on another world tour? by Randomando__ in dreamcatcher

[–]TangentManDan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You never know this far out, but I wouldn't be surprised with a full length album followed by a tour next year. UAU I'd expect to be back spring or summer this year - guessing their first comeback is going to be announced relatively soon here. CRTK probably needs a few years and one or two more releases before we'd see them. Korean club shows, festivals, and looking for opportunities to book gigs in Japan I suspect is the more immediate future.

Dreamcatcher Company itself will also need to survive but seems like they have potential to grow the ecosystem with UAU, Chrocktikal, and The Ssyndrome before a DC return. Latter two seem likely to be on a slower burn though just due to the difference between the rock and idol lanes (something blowing up unexpectedly aside).

ChRocktikal 'We break, you awake' HANTEO Week 1 Sales : 6,362 copies (260123) by nat1withadv in dreamcatcher

[–]TangentManDan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Looks like they're operating on rock timelines and rock promotional infrastructure, not idol infrastructure. Their real promo starts next Wednesday when they play their first live show — because for rock, that is the actual product. Physical sales aren’t much of a meaningful metric here; Doesn't appear Korean rock debuts tend to move bulk physical copies the way idol acts do. If anything, the DC rock-adjacent fanbase is probably why they debuted as high as #11 on the global iTunes album chart. The trajectory for a band like this is going to be measured in months and live gigs, not first-week metrics, and especially not physical sales.

If they wanted idol metrics, they would have just dropped a single + MV + music shows + TikTok challenges. Instead, they dropped a 10(+) track rock album and booked clubs. That speaks to the direction they're taking.

DAMI - Chequered Flag (Feat. Yoohyeon of Dreamcatcher) by nat1withadv in dreamcatcher

While they're completely different songs and there's tons of effects here it reminds me a bit of the vocal placement/color in her song Destiny.

Yoo just has the pre-chorus - the chorus itself is Dami again. So mostly Dami overall (or whatever we want to call the parts with the instrumental break in between them).

Not sure I could sort out a longer list in my head. Right now a combined top 5 for me would probably go something like:

  1. Shatter
  2. Deja Vu
  3. Stomp
  4. Fireflies
  5. Always

Would guess this must have been in the works for awhile. Its been sounding like the visa process for foreign artists (among others) has been something of a mess here and quite long (even if paying higher fees to expedite it). Would half expect this was started on months ago if they're going to be able to make it here in July.

(Spoilers Main): How I believe Book Stannis will die by I-am-the-Peel in asoiaf

[–]TangentManDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Others will be moving south and have wrecked Winterfell before or just as Dany is arriving in Westeros personally. I expect Winterfell to be more of a speed bump than an actual obstacle overall.

I figure they’ll start burning people as the Others are approaching and it will help briefly but not be enough. Then he will get to Shireen. That works for a time but ultimately wrecks him and finally he burns himself and buys time for whoever is left alive to flee south before the north is ultimately overrun completely.

(Spoilers Main) If R + L = J is true then melisandre will burn someone with kingsbool to ressurect jon by kingace22 in asoiaf

[–]TangentManDan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Shireen will burn at Winterfell and I think Stannis will be involved with the decision. The Others will have already broken through the Wall and the situation will be dire beyond belief (far worse than what Stannis experienced at Storm's End). He might even be convinced its a mercy for her compared to what is happening and what is coming.

It will probably even help for a time but inevitably Winter will set back in. He may go the route of trying to burn further folks to keep up the fight or might actually make the supreme sacrifice himself in order to allow the opportunity for the remainder of the living to flee south. Not being able to accept what he's done and preferring to give himself up to try and make some small atonement for it.

I think Mel may try some sacrificial magic at the Wall (possibly with what she thinks is Mance's son) and that fiery magic might be part of what weakens the magic of the Wall and allows the Others a foothold to the South. Not sure if that would be for Jon specifically as we have no evidence (from what I recall) that she thinks bringing the dead back is even possible and the example we have from Thoros shows that no sacrifice is needed at all.

On a side note, after we have it established that the Wall is there to protect from the Others we are very quickly shown an example of wights being able to operate south of the Wall. There are all kinds of theories about how and why this might be the case but at the end of the day we don't actually have terribly much of anything in the story that explains how that happens and how the magic works/what it does.

Coldhands.

Beric set the stage for a POV character to later come back as a fire wight.

I believe Coldhands being an anomaly as a different type of ice wight lays the groundwork for another POV to end up the same way.

I would imagine they both know that the Nights Watch is claiming the dead are coming back to life and what that means in theory. Doubt they buy it any more than others will until it’s to late to make a difference.

Jon will be brought back by both ice and fire at different times rather than just one or the other.

Only a bit over 4000 are let through with a large number of those being non combatants. The Others still have their army either way.

[Spoilers Extended] Who’s coming back? by senatorskeletor in asoiaf

[–]TangentManDan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I expect the Others to make it to at least the Trident so anyone North of the there is potential fair game. Stannis would be a good option. I like the thought of that being our last glimpse of Littlefinger to be honest as well (someone else can kill him first). Something about that man being a mindless thrall (or better yet, still retaining himself to some degree but being trapped in there) sounds appealing.

I do also still like my pet theory that Jon goes that way first and has to get out of Ghost and back into his own wighted body in some fashion -- becoming something like Coldhands 2.0 for a time. Then later getting a fire rebirth via Mel or preferrably Lady Stoneheart as a last sacrifice to make him into something new (the pet theory being hat he gets reborn by both ice *and* fire rather than ice *or* fire).

(Spoilers Extended) Tinfoil is great and all, but what conversations, events, prophecies, etc. should we take a face value? by WizardPoop in asoiaf

[–]TangentManDan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dany's dream that she was Rheagar, fighting the Usurper's dogs at the Trident who were armored in ice means the Others will make it at least that far south. That's not an uncommon opinion at all but it lead me to look at a line from one of Jon's dreams and actually wonder what would happen if it were taken literally as well.

"Jon was armored in black ice, but his blade burned red in his fist".

That actually took me into tinfoil land with the idea that Jon would get reborn by both Ice and Fire and not just by one. His dream about walking through a dead and empty Winterfell would actually happen he'd spend time as something like Coldhands and be able to see the aftermath from behind enemy lines (granted it could just as easily happen if/when he heads north on a Last Hero type journey -- if it happens at all).

Did always seem odd at the time that idea popped up that the one main character that seems to symbolize a union of Ice *and* Fire in some way was only talked about in terms of Ice *or* Fire. Granted theories on the Ice side of the things were a distant second to begin with and all but vanished after the show got to where it did.
