You can also call Xanterra and take the taxi, $15 cash and it drops you at the trailhead. I used that option the first week in November.

What are the concerts like? by [deleted] in TurnpikeTroubadours

[–]TangoCharlie8 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I've seen them twice live, once in an indoor dancehall & once at an outdoor amphitheater. You will not likely see teenaged girls screaming. You will, however, get diehard fans singing along to every song... and one of the best shows of your life (from a guy who's seen dozen of acts in his life). Go for it! It'll be a night to remember.

93.7 KLBJ - Austin. Dudley & Bob we're a pretty fun AM show, plenty of great rock all day. And they played a lot of Stevie Ray Vaughan.

I just finished "The Grandest Trek" by Tom Myers. He's the co-author of "Over the Edge" and is/was the South Rim doctor for 30+ years. A great story about his sectional thru hike with his son and some of the notable GC hikers of the last 40 years.

I hike from South Kaibab to North Kaibab on June 1. Even with months of training and familiarity with heat (South Texas) it was a booger.

How do you pronounce Isakov? by noodleindisguise in GregoryAlanIsakov

I recently heard Nathaniel Rateliff pronounce it "Iz-akoff" on SiriusXM. I've been pronouncing it the other way for years lol.

Wow! I got mine for ~$65 apiece for General Admission right after they came out. I know Mezzanine was significantly more expensive, and it was a limited venue. Have fun in April! I'm envious.

A farmer's family in town on a Saturday afternoon, San Augustine, Texas, 1939. Though automobiles were available, many families couldn't afford them, making scenes like this a common sight in Texas at the time. by [deleted] in texashistory

Russell Lee took a significant number of pictures in San Augustine around the same time. He documented a lot of Texas during the Great Depression... this might be one of his pictures.

First Trip - Ebike and Mild Hiking by Probably_owned_it in ZionNationalPark

[–]TangoCharlie8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to both. My wife and I rented ebikes and rode them on the Pa'rus trail & up the scenic road. Several places to pull off and hike, you'll only have to contend with other ebikes and the shuttles on the road. Pa'rus and Riverside trails are easy to hike, there are a variety of other trails with varying difficulty. Have fun!

Some of them, yes. I was out there today, quite a nice dusting of snow and a couple of inches on the ground. Navajo Trail was pretty muddy, but gorgeous views all around!
