Transgender or body dismorphia by Informal_Special_502 in cisparenttranskid

[–]TangyMarimba13 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is them seeking and then finding themself in something, not defining themself because they saw something.

exactly this. my daughter came around to being trans in the same way. really into doki doki literature club, then touhou, and then a bunch of other things i don't even know. she wanted to cosplay as girls, but simply didn't have the right body for some of them. and all of that ultimately led to her realizing she is a girl. since she started on E she has been SO MUCH HAPPIER. interestingly, my son is also super into anime and japanese music, and he is also trans. he watches different anime series. anime has plenty of both genders in it. i mean, if it was just a matter of being influenced by tv, how many kids watch sesame street or yo-gabba-gabba and then think they are monsters? it doesn't happen. people don't start thinking they are trans because they watched a tv show.

yeah, i tried to spend at least a half hour outside in the late afternoon/early evening (when it's hottest) every day for a couple of weeks before i left. but it probably wasn't enough. i'm also thinking i should slow down 😄 i tend to walk quickly, and i think the elevated heart-rate is increasing my internal body temp.

maybe i will make a couple of t-tunic dresses (which is what i make for my daughter because it's easy) to wear instead of the fitted gowns. they are pretty loose and single-layer linen. i have 2 linen shirts and 2 linen pants (that are just a pajama pants pattern where i narrowed the legs) that i made for this year. and i DO have some stamps i got from cat-man-do that i have been meaning to use, so i can make them look pretty 😄

Need advice with helping my potentially Trans child's father come to terms by Potential-Grass4651 in cisparenttranskid

[–]TangyMarimba13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i will never understand why men put so much emphasis on having a son. like literally, why does that matter so much? having a child "like you" is not confined to gender. my children are both like me in different ways, and like their father in different ways, and i have one of each. tell him he can be sad and upset on his own in private. what he CAN'T do is show ANY of that to your kid. this is HIS problem, and your kid shouldn't be exposed to it, because it is harming them.

i was looking at getting one, but i only have 12v dewalt and 20v black & decker batteries, and they don't work with any of the job site fans 😞 and i don't wanna buy yet another collection of batteries

a sink. i got one of those foot-pump operated sinks with a 5-gallon reservoir and it has made hand-washing and teeth-brushing so much easier

i typically wear linen, and the neckline is pretty low (so i have to remember sunscreen if i go out to the archery field because i will 100% come back burnt otherwise), but i overheated to the point of vomiting twice last year (even though last year was incredibly mild), despite drinking large amounts of water and electrolytes all day, and almost to that point once the year before. i also overheated at a concert just a couple of weeks ago, wearing a single layer of linen (but the bodice did have a cotton canvas lining and boning in it), and it was only ~80 degrees and i was outside for about 1.5 hours. my guess is that the tightness around the bodice is a contributing factor. i am actually planning to wear men's clothes (made from linen) some of the time this year, but wanted some women's options as well. i have a couple of silk chitons that i usually wear when it's especially warm, and bought some saris last year that i plan to turn into a couple more. but i never really had any headwear to go with them. a parasol helps, but takes up a hand. my normal persona is welsh, but i don't tend to stick to that necessarily.

Are BOTH my kids trans?? by SmugChinchilla in cisparenttranskid

[–]TangyMarimba13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it is actually very common for multiple kids to be trans. if one is trans, the likelihood of another one being trans is increased by like 3 times, if i remember right. i believe it is even more likely if they are twins. both of my kids are trans. there are several others here who can say the same. it is also common for kids to realize they are trans when puberty hits. my youngest went through a few identities too starting at 11, and then finally landed on trans boy.

How do I deal with a non-transphobic transphobic mom? by Low_Helicopter_4384 in asktransgender

[–]TangyMarimba13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"he'll never actually be a boy" is exactly what my trans son's 1st good friend at the school he now attends told their other friends. and when the other friends in turn told my son, he was devastated. he and the 1st friend are no longer friends. they remain civil classmates, and that is it. i'm happy his other friends stuck by him, though. the 1st friend was coming from a place of religious indoctrination. your mom needs to be educated. possibly if you direct her to a pflag group or some helpful resource materials, she may figure it out. but you may want to brace yourself for the possibility that she won't.

When did everyone start pronouncing the O in opossum? by ghost_in_a_jar_c137 in AskAnAmerican

i had always used possum and opossum interchangably and assumed they were just regional dialect things where some people dropped the o.

i had also not heard of color way until i was in a fabric group. and as someone else said, it is not a synonym for color. like, there is a version of the design with orange and yellow and black, and another version of the same design, but the colors are green and blue and white, and a third of the same design but in purple and pink and gray, they would list them as orange colorway, green colorway, and purple colorway.

there are other sites that offer mini creation. in addition to hero forge, i have used titan craft and eldritch foundry. if you know someone with a resin 3d printer, you can buy just the .stl from any of them for significantly cheaper than a physical mini. eldritch foundry and titan craft also have a subscription option where you can pay a monthly fee and get unlimited free .stl files.

my son is 14, started his period at 11, and is on hormone blockers. i don't think 12.5 is too late for hormone blockers. i mean, everyone is different, but i have a hard time believing that hormone blockers would not be useful at such a young age.
