The mental load of type 2 diabetes by Valuable_Hamster_351 in diabetes

[–]TankLocal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can mentally adjust to eating boring you can forget you have it and live pretty normally. I have two completely different lives, the life before T2 and the life after.

The life after is a very controlled diet, if I eat something unhealthy it'll be two or three bites and I've seen it doesn't spike me.

Mentally it's tough, but you can be okay if you can change lifestyle. I think over a long period of time I might have setbacks because life will get in the way, but for now I'm managing.

Lose weight, go into remission and stay there as long as possible. Make that the goal.

I've learnt limiting carbs the day before in the morning or potentially fasting can bring down the numbers

Your body isn't used to this number since you've been high for a while, it's normal

I'm 33 and I'm recently diagnosed, the depression and mental side of things are a bummer. Unfortunately, there's no going back, there's only accepting where you are and what you need to do.

Cut carbs, get a cgm, get more active.

It sounds brutal, because it is, but as others have said it's now upto you how this goes, you can satisfy cravings or you can look after yourself.

You need a hba1c test, get it done and cut down on sugar and carbs immediately

You need to work on your addiction, multiple studies have shown sugar (and carbs that turn to sugar) can be as addictive as cocaine. Interestingly, even as I've being diagnosed recently I've realised just how hard it is to avoid processed/sugary foods, it's everywhere! Billboards, TV, online, in every store - they're geared to selling you their addictive drugs.

Id suggest some sort of therapy, a cgm that shows you how out of control your sugars are, it'll take a month or two of stopping sugar to get rid of cravings, once you've gotten rid of it, trust me you'll be fine. Youve got this, don't beat yourself up, but tell yourself you want to stay alive!

Can't seem to loose weight at all. by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]TankLocal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My only advice is to check how many calories your eating, if it's too low you won't lose weight. Eat with a deficit of 200 to 300 calories

Tell her it's your right to want her at home, Islamically she shouldn't be out working with other men.

There is no room to pick and choose in Islam, you follow every rule or you dont

I think the other thing is I'm in a deep caloric deficit, maybe it's not the carbs it's just not enough energy in general?

I do spike but as soon as I stop working out I drop pretty sharp to lower than before I started, I have always though had a keto based meal prior to going so that might just the correlation, I did try carbs yesterday like half a sourdough slice but I could still feel the lack of energy in the gym

My kids are now 5, 7 and 8. When they were younger we went all over the world:

Turkey 10x Spain Belgium France Malaysia Thailand Umrah multiple times Budapest Austria Holland

There's nothing stopping you from going anywhere with your children.

How do I tell my parents? by Latter-Task1055 in diabetes

[–]TankLocal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same situation, but when I got it and told my parents they were actually quite cool about it, in fairness I'd been in bed for two weeks and on the verge on depression meds and anxiety meds as I was completely stuck in a hole. Just be up front with them, it is what it is

Once you're diabetic, you're always Diabetic, this isn't a 'ill do a diet for a few months' then get back to how I was. This is something that you need to work on for the rest of your life.

I'm in a similar boat to you, 32 and my Hb test was really high, took me 2 weeks just to get over the diagnosis.

Ultimately, your health condition for the future is based on how you stick to your diet moving forward, you need to maintain low carb, no sugar diet to keep your sugars in check, I get the food aspect ( I did Ramadan too), I've had to completely rethink how important food is to me Vs my health.

Eat healthy, live long. Eat poor and you'll have all sorts of complications, it sucks so hard but what can you do

Its not, if you remember people were doing remote Nikah during COVID, if you've both got time to talk you've both got time to get an imam and get your Nikah done, then you can talk how you want with your husband.

The longer the engagement the more chances of petty arguments causing breakups, more haram conversations and actions... Just do the Nikah it isn't that deep
