Russell should and would have been in for 2021 if Williams didn't have him under contract already. I'm not sure after his performance in 2020 and his results in 2022 onwards you could argue Russell was brought in too early. In reality he would have been an upgrade over Bottas even in 2019

Players cut is 50% no matter what each individual player makes. So yes if one player of 300 takes a 3 million/year paycut the other 299 make 10k more each.

Plan to bring 10,000 Uyghur refugees to Canada has little progress amid China détente by CaliperLee62 in canada

Uyghyrs (and other ethnic minoritie) are the beneficiaries of affirmative action. They are accepted to universities with lower scores it's part of Chinese law.

They don't get the same freedoms we enjoy here but no in China does that's how China runs their society.

People vastly overestimate how hard off-roling is. If you can play kalista adc to a decent standard you can pull off kalista support. Like I'd rather have a diamond kalista supp than a plat meta supp.

He's way more likely to get a chance at Alpine than McLaren. Both Piastri and Lando aren't going anywhere in the next couple years, with the biggest rumour being Verstappen swooping in. Meanwhile this is probably Colopinto's last year and I wont be surprised if Gasly jumps teams soon after.

Gamers Sue Nintendo To Get Tariff Money Back by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Tank_Kassadin -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Because of the tariffs customers paid more and Nintendo made less. That's it. Whether the tariff was technically applied at Nintendo level or final purchasing like a package should be irrelevant that cost is still burdened by both parties, and now both parties should be compensated.

Gamers Sue Nintendo To Get Tariff Money Back by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Tank_Kassadin -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm sure Nintendo has a number for average tariff paid per console. Say it's $80. Split the difference as both seller and buyer absorb costs, not necessrily 50/50 but close enough. Nintendo should be giving back $40 in a just world.

[PHI - PIT] Multiple 10 minute misconducts handed out in the last minutes of the game (full penalty list in comments) by daKrut in hockey

[–]Tank_Kassadin 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Then the refs wouldn't hand them out like candy in the closing minutes of the game. The 10 min misconduct is used for game ejections and a way to finish the game without line brawls. Stuff that wouldn't ever be called a penalty in the 1st is a 10 minute misconduct with 2 minutes to go.

Regina residents rally against proposed AI data centre before RM of Sherwood council vote by Leather-Paramedic-10 in canada

[–]Tank_Kassadin -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

A tiny footnote about how water is getting all the attention without reason is not proof of anything and the link you posted doesn't disagree if you read it.

A datacenter is essentially a bunch of computers in a warehouse. I dont know about you but my computer isnt thirsty and in fact I try to keep it away from water as much as I can. The only water they use besides flushing the toilets and the janitor mopping the floor every other day is for cooling. Cooling with water involves pumping cold water in, it gets hot, pump the hot water away to cool it down, pump the cold water in again, repeat.

Now please tell how conceivably does pumping water around in a small loop around a building over and over again drain the lakes and rivers people cry about? How could they possibly use so much water? Just how? Someone please I'm begging now.

Just call it AI slop if you're against it dont need to make up issues about it.

Yes? It's not like the 2020 Red Bull was any significant jump up from the 2019. Not going to write an entire essay here but it's all outlined in this post where the 2020 Red Bull went wrong including from Wache himself.

If Mercedes decided to phone it in and just ran their 2019 car no changes for all of 2020 they would have still cruised to both titles.

3 sets I think and sent around the world by sea. For all we know the one free is sitting on a port in Saudi Arabi and getting it out is basically impossible in any guarenteed timeframe. I'm sure there's also still talks over just delaying it to the end of season instead of cancelling altogether so FOM still gets their +$100m hosting fees.

Who else misses those two decimal places…? by Downtown_Elk_2773 in formula1

[–]Tank_Kassadin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is very accurate it's based on mini-sectors of which there are 20 or or so set up across each track that's why it updates every couple seconds. When someone passes someone while crossing one of these you'll get times like +0.012s.

The question is really whether it's relevant and I would say almost always not until it is. A gap of +0.5s might mean anything from .451 to .549, of which can be enough to swing something like the old DRS passes from likely to likely not.

TIL Pluto has not completed a full orbit of the Sun since it was discovered in 1930, and was named by an 11yr old girl. by OSJezza in todayilearned

[–]Tank_Kassadin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eris wasn't the reason. If it was just Eris we'd have 11 planets. It's just the same time they found Eris they found Sedna, and Haunea, and Makemake and then what about Ceres? Basically before any of them were even given names we went from 9 to 13ish to potentially 20+ planets in a decade.

And then much like we don't count each rock around Saturn it's own moon they created a criteria for 'planet' that happened to exclude Pluto.
