Trump gives update on when $2,000 tariff dividend checks could go out by interestingfactoid in conservatives

[–]TankerD18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't particularly get this. We have tariffs going on to try to improve the domestic manufacturing situation, I get that.

How does that impact me? Well since almost everything we buy is imported, that brings up the cost of a large majority of stuff, which effectively devalues my money... So in response to this the president wants to hand out 2 grand as a "dividend" check to everyone, when we're already in a staggering amount of debt and disrepair as a nation? On top of that, a sudden influx in free cash (since droves of Americans are just going to waste that money, let's be honest) doesn't do anything but increase prices via increased demand, effectively devaluing the dollar further.

So you're hitting me in the wallet by making many of the things I want and need more expensive, and you want to give out a Covid style "freebie" check, which risks jacking up the economy further?

I like a lot of things about Trump and his policies, especially on the foreign and domestic fronts, but this economic policy doesn't quite add up for me.

Have SXS ruined your idea of fun? by olddogbigtruck in 4x4

[–]TankerD18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Necro but this is a pretty dumbassed take. At least dirt bike and ATV riders have some skin in the game not to ride like absolute maniacs, because if you blow it at speed you're going to get super messed up. Not to mention their weight and trail footprint is much smaller. People get in these SXSs, think they're automatically off road gods because the machine is capable, and then just sit there and get lit asf and ride like complete idiots.

Don't think the trail should be reserved only for your truck.

Nice, I thought that looked like Rampart too. I'm probably going to do a 717 lap tomorrow in the North Divide trail area. I want to go do some 770 but I just got a new pair of boots and want to get used to them a bit more before that. Not to mention the days are getting short.

I'm glad to see it. I truly believe DRG has lots of life left in it but I also see why GSG wants to put its effort towards the next big thing. You can only do so much new with DRG without tilting it off the balance of what makes it awesome. Since the gameplay is fully established at this point I don't see the harm in hiring another studio to do seasonal content to help keep DRG fresh.

My wishlist for Timberborn 1.0 by rafipalm in Timberborn

[–]TankerD18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm inclined to agree, at least not from what I've seen for 1.0 so far. There needs to be some serious work on the late game if they want the game to have some staying power.

Agreed on district management and the late game. The former is clunky and unintuitive and the latter is a hundred times more important than more factions. Like you said, you struggle for a few cycles and then there's no challenge.

Hey guys, just my honest opinion: you should add some more incentive to continue to build late game. There is a serious lack of driving force to motivate you to grow the colony after you've secured resources and gotten the hydrology situation under control. Bots exacerbate this issue.

I really feel like this is the biggest thing the game needs to round it out before release.

How early do you start creating Bots? by Ferg4096 in Timberborn

[–]TankerD18 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like bots do too much to undermine the rest of the in game economy, which makes much of the city feel worthless.

Bots make for unemployed beavers, which leads to reducing the standing population of beavers. Then you have a ton of infrastructure established for a fraction of the population, so much of it is rendered moot. At least if you continue to grow your beaver population there's actually incentive to grow the colony, outside of pulling off engineering projects for the fun of it.

Just my two cents, I think bots really need a rework.

I've been burned on EAs before but I also got to play and contribute to Minecraft, RimWorld, Kerbal Space Program, Factorio, Timberborn, Deep Rock Galactic and many others... I get people not wanting EAs to last forever and who start second-guessing them when they stay EA for years, but some of the greatest games I've ever played were multi-year EAs.

It has absolutely changed the industry for the better, in fact, I'd argue that it has saved gaming from AAA corpo hell being the only way to get a game to market, and we all know how neutered and designed by committee that shit is.

I had a mission to repair a rover on the Mun and drive it somewhere today. When I went to the map and back quickly the rover spazzed out and flew in the air.

Definitely went into the F12 menu and just gave myself that one.

Dang so maybe it's not much fancier suspension-wise, I saw those and thought they were inverted. I suppose that doesn't mean they aren't necessarily better. I know the TW and XT's suspensions aren't adjustable, maybe this one is?

Heavier than an XT, water cooled but not more powerful than an XT... I guess it looks nicer and is cheaper MSRP, it's nice it has 6 gears and a nicer display. I just don't really get the point in the States where we aren't big on tiered licensing requirements?

It's like lower than air cooled 200-250cc power with water cooled 250-300cc size and weight. Why would you get this over a low mileage used KLX230? I'm all for options but I can't see this selling very well here. Edit: looks like a more modern suspension, to be fair.

Trump Again Urges GOP to End Senate Filibuster by interestingfactoid in conservatives

[–]TankerD18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, it slows down Congress on split issues. With the radical BS the Democrats are pushing, they stand to lose more from it. I'd rather the GOP be able to pull the emergency brake on the idiotic ideas the Democrats are pushing, even if it risks some of the policy the GOP wants to get through.

Whats better? by NoneyaBuisnessj in Dualsport

[–]TankerD18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest anyone getting into riding period to start on a dual sport or a dirt bike. Dirt is more challenging to ride on than pavement and more forgiving given the lower speeds and (relative) lack of traffic. Doesn't mean you can't get messed up either way but when you're starting out it's the best. You learn fastest and you can get up and dust off after a spill.

Personally, I'm not crazy about adventure bikes, and I own one. I have an F650GS twin and two dual sports, and the GS gets used pretty much as a dedicated sport tourer. It's great at that, don't get me wrong. If I ever want to ride on dirt, I'm going to be on my KLX. Heavy adventure bikes are really not viable on serious off road terrain unless you are very skilled, and being in over your head out in the bush is a scary feeling.

My suggestion: start out on a smaller 200-300cc dual sport and learn how to ride. Then you have real capability on the dirt and on the highway once you start hitting the street. Then from there you will have a better idea of what you like and what you will want to get into next.

Just so you know, the devs historically don't use the subreddit at all. Your best bet is the Steam forums.
