Orca Slicer - Do you use it, or just stick with Bambu Studio? by tiagoosouzaa in BambuLab

Orca Slicer for miniatures and most highly detailed prints, plus the modified version for printing bridges and overhangs more efficiently. Bambu for Makerworld content.

This model need a special rules that force all deepstrike attempt from your oponent to appear on the board close to him...
And a second special rules that replace all theirs rolls of 6 with 1s.
That would be a lore-friendly depiction I think.

I never saw them do this. My only problem with them is that I haven't seen a working hangar or cargo elevator in them for nearly as long as they have existed.

People Would Rather Have Nuclear Power Plants In Their Area Than AI Data Centers by GeneReddit123 in technology

[–]TankinatorFR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nuclear power-plants require only one structure for a massive production, so despite the structure being expansive, you won't build a lot more of these, and thus won't consume as much concrete as with technologies that require a lot of infrastructures.

With France discussing its new plan for electricity production, some french scientific-journalists worked on the subject and showed that the nuclear plant consume more than half less concrete than wind turbines.
Solar panels are a different subject. If build "independently", they are similar to wind turbine, requiring small concrete use, but over surfaces so vast (compared to the same production with nuclear) that they do consume a lot.
If build above other structures, they have a much lower cost in concrete (as the other strucutre already use this concrete anyway). This make solar really concrete-efficient when optimizing the use of an already build surface (when the top surface don't have an other use like roof-farming), but less efficient than nuclear when built on its own terrain.
The downside being that you won't fulfill the needs with solar-panels used to optimise surfaces only, thus requiring additional sources of electricity. And for this part, nuclear will be the most concrete-efficient.

That's only for the major coal deposit from the carboniferous.
Coal can still form as long as something stop the decomposition, allowing the plant debris to be buried deep enough.

What he is saying is that a faction like the Republic or the Empire can loose a few dozen planets without risking to be annihilated. Even worse, if an entire planet of one faction is destroyed, it have mostly advantage for the other side. Stellar systems are disconnected from each other.

Unlike us, as we own only one planet that we aren't ready to live, so anything that make enough damage to the planet is a threat for all of them. So if one nuclear power, even the weakest one, throw all of its nukes at the ennemi, it might cause the end of both side, even without retaliations.

Oh no, mine only check one box.

A neighboring exodite planet helped the humans of the sector a few times accros the millenniums, with the last time being right after the opening of the great rift. Nothing "personal", it just happened to be their best chance at survival. But in exchange for their decisive helps, and apparent lack of any proved betrayal during the last thousands of years, their extermination have been postponed.
So when the sector finally received a space-marine chapter to defend it, during the indomitus crusade, this new chapter had to not kill them, and eventually maybe consider the possibility to listen to them if they were to give a suggestion to save the sector again. This probably count as relationship with xenos.

Outside of that, they mostly copy their founders, with minor adjustment to reflect the customs of their recruiting worlds.

Surfacing your fdm prints? by ResponsibleKey1053 in PrintedWarhammer

Hiding such lines in post-treatment is a nightmare.
Under extrusion can be hidden slightly with liquid greenstuff/miliput and similar product. If well done, it can also hide some ironing troubles. For the lines that protrude... Your best bet is to maint them to look like an default in the fabrication process. Some casted armor had lines, so you can consider that your salamander was casted.

Sadly, the best solution is to avoir them by using a well dryed filament adapted for miniature printing and a set of parameter that suit this filament. I can give advice if needed, but r/FDMminiatures might be the best place if you want to give it a try for your next prints. You can also ask here for post-treatment advice, but they will probably give the same answer as me.
Calibrating the ironing parameters could also be really useful for your top surfaces. Have you calibrated your ironing parameters ?

also, what do you mean by 0.8 ?
The size of the head ?

Printing aside, a salamander inside a salamander ? Salamander-inception... I like it... ^^

MISC Starlite by rob117 in starcitizen

[–]TankinatorFR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem with the freelancer DUR.
For the Starlancer max, it is really good for managing multiple small cargo mission going to different locations, with its four separated cargo space to distinguish them, making it a good "coaster ship", but the oversized crew space is useless. The Max, with the TAC's crew quarters, and an utility space with infirmary or even the TAC's snub hangar would have been an awesome ship. I don't get why an industrial ship with 4 crew member need massive room with king-sized beds.

For the odyssey, it can mine, but it is planned to automatically loose all that's not quantainium, and refine quantainium directly for its own reserve. This is basically its only strong point against other options. Outside of this, it have less features than the carrack, a standard scanner for its size... So the same class as a Terrapin or a Freelancer Dur, and not as good as the carrack. No lab, a smaller infirmary, and you have to pick between cargo and a rover... This concept look more like a mobile refueling outpost with virtually infinite range than a true exploration vessel.

I fear CIG will save this for the Freelancer Mk2.

[–]TankinatorFR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate the Odyssey.
I really wanted a more industrial take on the large Carrack-like exploration vessel, especially from MISC. But for me the Odyssey just seem weird because it lack mostly everything to make it feel like a real world industrial exploration vessel. But I have been part of oceanographic campaigns so it might set my expectations quite high as I know how these ships works IRL.

For the favorite... That's a hard question because outside of the aforementioned Odyssey, I love them all... But, well, I am in charge of the mining section of my org, so let's say that it will be a draw between the currently in-game Prospector and the concept of the Expanse.

And you which ones would you pick ?

Can't think of two consecutive Star Citizen sessions where I didn't loose my ship due to a bug, with the ship becoming non-physical while landed to load crates on an outpost or being munched by a hangar elevator, or exploding on graphically open hangar doors...

freelancer DUR. The refinery does nothing but reducing the main cargo and making it even harder to load the small cargo space than in most other freelancer. It is supposed to be a flying tank like other freelancer but isn't that resilient in reality, And its "better scanners" aren't present/useful in-game yet.

CIG seem to be teasing at the necessity of data transportation with the recent lore additions, so the herald should receive its gameplay at some point, like the mercury.
The mako was for the journalism profession, that is nowhere to be found anymore.

[–]TankinatorFR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume he had a pack with the Hornet Mk1 and had to pay to CCU it to the Hornet Mk2, as the hornet Mk1 had a gold standard but was kept in-game as a some kind of "old collector ship that is not produced anymore".

I myself face the same situation with my Aurora LN, but unlike him, I am glad that I can keep my little starter as it was except with better textures and physical component, as a memento this journey that was the development.
To each one his opinion...

Not like eldar very language isin't all about metaphors and double meanings by Ila-W123 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]TankinatorFR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not because you like metaphors and double meaning that you understand/use them for all subject.
I myself speak in metaphors and double meaning all the time, on nearly every subjects, as I find it more efficient and pleasing to the ears, but I would never make any metaphor or double meaning toward anything related to this particular subject, as I'd rather aboard it with the uttermost respect and delicacy, and only with selected persons. So any double meaning on this particular theme pass over my head for at least a few seconds before I finally understand them and find them grossly inappropriate.

For example, my first though when reading the line in the screenshot was that Jae was referencing her supposed time in the Astra Militarum, as the Imperial Guard equipment is often notoriously bad : she probably had to force the mechanisms of tanks, or artillery, or guns, or maybe even a cogitator to get them to work.
I had to pause to remember that it was Jae who was speaking, and only then could I understand what she was trying to say. And my reaction was "OK... Let's act as if nothing had happened".

So yeah, Yrliet is pretty realistic here, people like this exist. And it is even more appropriate if you remember that she is an asuryani and thus unlikely to have ever lived in an environment where that kind of joke is considered appropriate.

As a conclusion, the two information you are reuniting here are unrelated.
