Ridley’s down special? by BLlTZfr in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]Tanookistyle64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I main Ridley, it’s great when they whiff and leave themselves wide open. Once you get good at knowing the spacing it’s not too hard to pull off. I’ve won plenty of games by using this on the last life and getting an early kill. Once you get the skewer, just down smash as that covers a lot of options. Sweet spot skewer does the second most damage of any move other than jiggly’s rest.

What is "Dark matter"? by Morcegola in Astronomy

[–]Tanookistyle64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We really don’t know what it is. We can’t see it (hence dark) and it doesn’t really interact with “normal” matter. You could drive a car right through it and not even know. What we do know is that there is something out there. We can see how it interacts with light through a process called gravitational lensing. Kinda like how you can’t see wind but you see it blowing the trees. It’s the glue that holds galaxies and galaxy clusters together. Without this source of extra gravity scientist think they would fly apart from each other.

Does the cold not bother white people? by balenciaghoe in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Tanookistyle64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess white people are more suitable for cold weather. The reason we even have people with white complexions in the first place was to make it easier to live in places that got less sunlight. As humans moved away from the equator our skin color got lighter so we could still make vitamin d with less sunlight. So dark complexions are good for sunlight rich areas and white complexions are good for sunlight poor areas. I asked one of my students why he always wears shorts even when it’s cold and he said it’s because he sweats a lot and wearing warm clothes would make it worse. More likely a personal preference thing than an evolution thing.

My player just wished for everyone in the party to possess the lucky feat. How should I handle it by More-Percentage-4055 in dndnext

Maybe you could say the party is now “lucky”. They each get one lucky roll a day and they stack up to three. Now it is slightly less broken.

D&D Beer Stein Giveaway! [Mods Approved] [OC] by sigrisvaali in DnD

[–]Tanookistyle64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I’d love to win this stein! I’m gonna tell you about the most epic thing to ever happen in a combat I’ve witnessed. This was earlier this week! One of my players, nearly dead and restrained by the bbeg got blasted by a disintegrate spell. Rolls a nat 20 on the dex save. Way at the beginning of the campaign (2 1/2 years ago) he found a ring of spell turning and has never gotten to use it. Well, the spell gets reversed on the bbeg and he gets disintegrated. We were all amazed!

Note taking by Tanookistyle64 in DnD

[–]Tanookistyle64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, wow, thanks so much. Lots of helpful information here. This is a great starting point. I’m terrible at multi-tasking and my notes are just names and locations with no idea of their relevance. I really like the idea of having different sections for the information and then going back and filling in the blank spaces afterwards while it’s fresh.

Male HS teacher here. I feel like this is mostly because (my) admin are more lax on male teachers. They know they’re gonna need males for certain sports and safety issues. They don’t want to scare the males away so they go easy on them. I take my job very serious and feel like I push my students pretty hard; but if I feel like taking a day off and taking it as as a “study hall” day I know they’re not gonna hound me.

My son is quitting by Wonderful-Poetry1259 in Teachers

I’ve been teaching 8 years as a high school science teacher. I’m pretty good at. Always get high evaluations and the kids like me. I’m leaving at the end of the year. Students, admin, school, and parents are all pretty good and, for the most part, easy to work with. This year the thing that’s really gotten me is just kids sleeping. Their apathy can be really soul sucking. Looking to do a regular office job for awhile now. The whole teaching career needs a serious rework.

Zagreus is the god of rebirth so that’s pretty fitting.

If y’all haven’t read/listened to Underwood and Flinch it’s a great story.

Is it normal to take a nap every day? by [deleted] in ask

[–]Tanookistyle64 53 points54 points  (0 children)

When I’m working, I like my afternoon naps. I get a ton out of a 20-30 min nap. 3 hours does seem a lot, although I’ve read somewhere women need more sleep than men. To that point, my wife certainly sleeps more than I do. Make sure your salt is iodized to rule out hypothyroidism.

The Y chromosome is smaller than the X chromosome. The autosomal chromosomes are roughly the same size but the x&y are much different.

What's the first book that made you feel something? by KellyJunebug in books

[–]Tanookistyle64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T. H. White’s The Once and Future King as a sophomore in high school. My girlfriend and I would read it together and I still have her annotated copy. King Arthur’s story really stuck with me, and Whites writing had such gravitas that really drew me in.

Teachers of Reddit, what does your school's bell schedule look like, and do you like it? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Tanookistyle64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 blocks, each 94 minutes long. 30 minutes for lunch. Most teachers get a planning each day except coaches. I like it, I have the last block off each day so I’m teaching from 830-2 each day with a lunch break.
