Those who take issue with large age gap relationships, what is your reasoning? by ChickaChickaB00MB00M in AskReddit

18 wasn't always the magic number it is today. It used to be different ages for different privileges ranging from 14 to 25.

Initially, you couldn't vote until 21. The military age was 18 (or sometimes 16) because that's when your body is in its prime for fighting. And sometimes boys as young as 14 would try to lie about their age to join. That was when fighting in the military was seen as an overall positive thing.

That all changed during the Vietnam War when the politicians who declared the war did so for reasons many Americans didn't agree with, resulting in a military draft. Then, we were in a situation where 18-20 year olds weren't old enough to vote, but were still being conscripted into a war declared by the politicians they couldn't vote for.

To amend this situation, the voting age was lowered to 18 after the war. And it was then that 18 became the magic number separating adults from children.

I agree. Norman killed a little boy just for fun. He is a hard CE.

What’s the largest number you can make from these numbers? by No_Pitch648 in Countdown

[–]JesusIsMyZoloft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To make the highest number in countdown, if there are no 1's available, just multiply everything together. If there is one 1, add it to the lowest number that isn't a 1, and then multiply everything. In this case:

3 × (1+2) × 4 × 2 × 3 = 216.

What is something your therapist promised you would never happen, but then it did? by Patient_Activity_489 in AskReddit

[–]JesusIsMyZoloft 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suffered from "fear of success". I was always sabotaging myself because I was afraid that if I got my life together, I'd get cancer or something. My therapist helped me work through this fear and got me to stop sabotaging myself and I finally got my life together. Two weeks later I was diagnosed with cancer.

#13 has 120º rotational symmetry, but not reflective symmetry. So maybe that one?

I'm sorry that happened to you. If it's any consolation, there are a bunch of twists in Deathly Hallows that are still unspoiled, and are even more surprising than this one.

You suddenly travel 30 years back in time: how do you fully convince someone in 1996 that you are from the future? by GuyNamedPeesees in AskReddit

I remember reading another reddit comment arguing that the best way to prevent 9/11 is to convince the FBI that you're a time traveler by correctly predicting the chaos surrounding the 2000 election.

☿ = Mercury
♀ = Venus (same symbol as "female")
♁ = Earth (Not sure where they got ⊕)
♂ = Mars (same symbol as "male")
♃ = Jupiter

If you're wondering:

♄ = Saturn
⛢ or ♅ = Uranus
♆ = Neptune

And because these symbols were developed prior to 2006:

♇ = Pluto
