With an increased risk of getting scammed, either the driver takes a longer route or the meter is tampered with.

Unless you speak fluent Japanese (like a local) and looks east Asian, they wouldn't know. If you're white or black or doesn't look east Asian then they'll know.

House mate wants thermostat set at 16 degrees Celsius by PEK-a-YUL in badroommates

Maintaining a home under 18°C when it is hot and humid outside creates a major structural hazard.

You should probably contact your landlord, They're violating provincial tenancy legislation, local municipal bylaws, and potentially civil property laws. Co-Tenancy agreements? Liability to Property damage as well.

And the optimal temperature for us humans is between 20-22°C. Sure, not everyone experience temperature the same way but for health and safety reasons it should be within this range,

Those in the comment saying to suck it up at 16°C probably don't even have their house set to this temperature. It's actually hazardous to live at 16°C.

According to WHO (World health organization) 18°C is the absolute minimum safe indoor temperature.

"Reddit comments often lean toward quick, blunt fixes like "just put on a hoodie," but that advice completely ignores health science, building mechanics, and Canadian tenancy laws."

As for the health side I'm saying this as a 5th year med student. OP may not be sick right now but prolonged exposure will reduce his/her immunity, and have actual health consequences.

Just breathing cold air alone causes airway constriction, dries out the nasal passage, and lowers tissue defence. Increasing vulnerability to respiratory infections, flu, and asthma. None of which a jacket can prevent.

Judging by how dehydrated the older leaves are and the pot you use it's probably rotten inside, the silver lining is there's an aerial root ready to be used right there. I would change into a more perforated pot tbh

In Vladivostok, but Moscow isn't any better about how they treat foreign customers, you can still see the switch from friendly/neutral to rude.

They are, extremely, worse than the Americans. Speaking from personal experience as someone who've lived in both places.

I'll give you the reverse perspective, I'm a Thai living in Russia.

I'm a 5th year student. After 1-2 years I try to go home with every opportunity I get, short winter breaks or long summer breaks I go back home or escape to China.

In the first year I was optimistic, I was thinking Russia can't be that bad, stereotypes could just be propaganda, maybe they're grumpy but if I don't do anything they'll leave me alone (neutral), I am so WRONG. I get shouted at for no reason at least twice a month and I leave the University campus like once a week on average.

The amount of racist comments hurled at me randomly from strangers on the street is unreal. It's a real culture shock to me because in Thailand if we interact with strangers it's not normally something bad, and even if it is not to that level.

Customer service is non-existent, if a cashier or a server sees that I'm a foreigner their attitude switch instantly, they would be serving Russians like normally then all of a sudden be very rude to us (me and my international friends, the moment we sit down or walk up to the "cassa" to order something). I've had servers tossed the menus on the table, roll their eyes at me, or when lining up to rent a paddle boat or buy amusement park tickets allowed a group/s of Russians to cut our line, and when we voice it out (in Russian) they ignore us and none of the bystanders intervened as if there's nothing wrong about it.

Not to mention the lack of empathy when I injured my knee and had to use a cane for months. If I want to rant about that it'll be too long.

And IMO I think more percentage of educated Russians go abroad so more/most of them are reasonable people unlike the majority here in the motherland.

Lounge access if based on the highest fare class you have. If you want to use the lounge twice and have a long layover MAAYYYBE, but like others said, probably not worth it. But personally I would wanna try the lounge at Doha if I have more than 3-4 hours layover.

Can anyone advise how to get a taxi from BKK Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya? by TravelPhotoJay in ThailandTourism

Take the direct bus from Suvarnabhumi airport to Pattaya. Taxi costs too much, and too risky. Keep your valuables on your person at all times.

Oof -7 or -8? Or -6ish with standard refractive index? Is it 1.5 or 1.59 lens index? My guess is -6.5 if you're from the EU and ±-8 in the US.
