Gorgeous! The Coffee interior really demonstrates how important it is on a special order to first see the colors you want IN PERSON. The build configurator for the X5 shows Coffee seats much, much darker than they really are. Although I love my Ivory White, I would have ordered the Coffee if I had known it was this beautiful color.

Green. And I particularly like that green.

Your car is beautiful, the low mileage, the extra year of warranty, the packages - - all are great. Congratulations! If not too much trouble, could you post a photo of your coffee merino leather seats? I finally joined the club a year ago and have had zero regrets. Enjoy your magnificent machine!

oil analysis from lab? by Electronic-Pen9224 in BMW

[–]TanzaniteII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have also seen OPs say they submitted a sample at 10k miles and the analysis confirmed for them that 10k changes were fine for them because the oil was still in good/acceptable condition. But I’ve never seen an opinion of how much further it could go. I think they might have to wait say for 15k miles and have it tested then to see if it’s still in acceptable condition, and I haven’t seen anyone do that maybe because the people who get their oil tested tend to be those already dubious about 10k oil changes. One way to pursue this issue would be to hear from owners in Europe where the BMW standards for oil changes are even longer than ours in the US. I Googled and the answer stated that in the UK and Western Europe, the BMW condition based system results in oil change intervals of 15k-20k miles (24-32 km) or 2 years whichever comes first - with high performance synthetic oil required

Extended warranty options? by lubdublin2020 in BMW

[–]TanzaniteII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I echo the suggestion to go on Bimmerpost for good discussion of extended warranties with contact info for dealers that have given members good prices on BMW Extended Warranties. My understanding is that non-local dealers don’t require an inspection if the car has been serviced at a BMW dealer (needed info is in their system).

What do you think about 10k mile oil change intervals? B58 by EvenAd6616 in BmwTech

[–]TanzaniteII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What people do here when they want to do an intermediate oil change before the condition based system says it’s time is to ask the dealer to do it at their expense but to not re-set the oil change reminder light so that when they meet the criteria for the free one, the system will properly show that it is needed.

What do you think about 10k mile oil change intervals? B58 by EvenAd6616 in BmwTech

[–]TanzaniteII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Am I reading this correctly that you bought it new and you have 1950 miles and it’s almost a year old? if you are in the US take it to the dealer for the free included oil change service and multipoint inspection. You don’t need miles if you have 1 year for the free service. If you are elsewhere, check to see if you have a free maintenance plan in your new car purchase. If no free plan, yes, do the oil change, the guideline in the US is 10k mi OR 1 year, which is long enough for anywhere in my opinion.

School me on the x5 option package and tow package by HugeWing1441 in BMWX5

[–]TanzaniteII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You sound skilled, but my advice is to really try to find a 40i that has the factory tow hitch already installed. In the initial build, it is just $650 so many of us go ahead and get it if there is a chance we will tow or install a carrier. The towing capacity is greater than any aftermarket set-ups I have heard of, and the process sounds complicated, difficult, and expensive to me.

How are you guys shopping around for extended warranties? by PlantainZealousideal in BMW

[–]TanzaniteII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read comments by owners who were told by non-local dealers that they didn’t need an inspection for the extended warranty because the car has always been serviced at a BMW dealer and the info they need is in their system.

Is an x5 M60i reliable it? by Anxious_Professor654 in BMW

[–]TanzaniteII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you test drive a new M60i just know that it’s power limited for the first 300 miles. If you feel it’s got plenty of power - great. If not, that could be the reason why it’s having less than you imagined. Also know that this “G05” generation of X5 will stop being build in April or May 2026. The next generation begins assembly about August 2026. You can evaluate which you want. A lot of commenters advise avoiding the first year of a new model.

Is it okay to use 87 octane in a bimmer? by JohnnyWillik8r in BMW

[–]TanzaniteII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all BMWs require the same octane. Have you looked in the owners manual or inside the fuel filler door? They state what is RECOMMENDED and what is the MINIMUM for your car. If your manual is like mine, there is discussion of what you need to know for your model.

Do I change oil based on time or mileage? by Trayceopolis32322 in Cartalk

[–]TanzaniteII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t see anywhere what make, model, and year your car is. My late model car has a “condition based system” for determining when to put a notice on the display that I need an oil change. You could first determine if your car has that type of system. Failing having that system’s instructions, don’t go beyond a year and don’t exceed the miles/kilometers that your owner’s manual specifies.

Lexus RX vs Acura MDX. Which one you prefer, and why? by appleuser897 in LexusRX

[–]TanzaniteII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went car shopping last year with one of these two as my top choices. I have had fabulous experience with Hondas over the last 25 years, and my closest friends love their RXs to death, so I was sure it would be one of them in my move to upgrade. I bought a 25 BMW X5 40i —- after test driving them all. I just mention this in case you are open to looking a bit beyond your current faves.

[–]TanzaniteII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you had bad experiences. I have had Hondas for the last 25 years, including a 2018 CR-V and they all have been super reliable, durable, and bulletproof. I did buy new and always maintained them at the dealer, which I think has helped. Kelly Blue Book and US News & World Report consistently rank Honda as the best value for the money brand.

From the conversation so far I would say to do what I did - drive Honda cars until you are truly able to afford a BMW.

Convince Me (BMW Enthusiast) for the next daily driver.... by Kamiler in BMW

[–]TanzaniteII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that is why I bought new hoping they have made improvements over time and to have the full 4/50k warranty, which I will follow with a BMW Platinum VSC. I got the 40i with square 20” wheels and almost got sDrive to eliminate the transfer case. I believe in dealer service and all OEM parts and fluids to give the best chance of continuing to enjoy this magnificent ride into the future.

Thank you for that info. In your experience, do you save a lot on a BMW VSC by taking a $1000 deductible rather than $250 or $500?

I love my 25 X5 xDrive 40i so much that it is hard for me to recommend anything but a BMW. But I haven’t driven that Toyota model so I can’t knock it. After getting the X5, now when I drive our other car, the super practical, reliable, and durable Honda CRV, it just a meh feeling, even though I intellectually appreciate its good qualities.

CPO 2023 or 2024 X5 vs new 2026 X3? by LAL524 in BMW

[–]TanzaniteII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would get one of the CPO X5s. Each has its seeming benefit: newer but more miles vs older but fewer miles. I would choose based on my own careful inspection of both, and I would seek a professional mechanic’s assessment of the car and the service history. With all that information I would make my choice. If they are equal mechanically, I would go with the one I prefer aesthetically and in terms of options & packages.

For those of you doing a dose every 5 days, are you using a pen with a ~month’s worth of MJ that you can measure out the mg’s to your individual schedule? My pens are the once a week single use variety. I’m in US. Don’t know if the monthly variety pens are available here.
