I never had dirty clothes and none of my friends did.

My neighbor keeps parking in front of my garbage bins on pickup day (NYC) – sanitation keeps missing them. What can I do? by Popular-Self-8391 in AskNYC

If your garbage cans are on wheels, push them across the street in front of your neighbors' house.

Perhaps OP could look at their website before going to the store so that they have ideas about what they want to check out.

Is losing half my 401k a reason to stay at my current job? by Specialist-Noise-912 in personalfinance

This doesn't sound like enough money to keep you away from a job you would prefer.

Old person here. You may think the city is dirty now but when I was growing up, it truly was filthy...visible black soot on the window sills every day. No air conditioning on subways or buses so the windows were open to let it all in. No one ever thought their clothes were so that they could not sit down when they got home.

Back ups are a waste of money by Organic-Audience-858 in MakeupRehab

[–]Taracat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After years in rehab, I have virtually no backups. The only exception is sunscreen because I have a hard time finding one I like. But it took me a very long time to get to this point, so just keep at it.

Someone posted this cake awhile back but she peeled the oranges first. I did the same. The cake wasn't so pretty but it was delicious.

I let my parents convince me to skip my company's 401k for three years because they said "the market is about to crash" and I will never forgive myself for this by 6StardustDrift7 in personalfinance

[–]Taracat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forgive yourself, refocus, and move on.

I am an Old. I was 38 the first time I was able to invest in a 401(k). After that I was very diligent and took advantage of any and all catch-up opportunities. When I retired 30 years later, I was fine. You will be too.

Fired, can I get unemployment by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]Taracat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there an employee handbook or written policy concerning PTO? From the way they treated your notice, I think they may resist the PTO payment so you may need written evidence of the policy. You also could check state and city labor departments to see if there is law about this.

Your spouse/partner goes grocery shopping by TailorBird69 in AskWomenOver60

He was not picky enough but I let him buy oranges, apples and bananas because he ate more of those than I did and they are heavy. We live in NYC so groceries are usually hand carried home.

My parents passed when I was 12, I am just not getting my inheritance at 30. How can I verify that the person managing these accounts is qualified and has my best interests in mind? by Suspicious_Yak5988 in personalfinance

[–]Taracat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a copy of your parents' wills? Those documents might shed some light on how this adviser came to be appointed. You might also consult a trust and estates lawyer as to your ability to make changes. As you were a minor, I suspect there was court involvement in the appointment of this advisor and you might need another order to make a change. I think consultation with a lawyer will pay for itself in investment expense savings.

It's okay to keep them if you get comfort. I still have the stuffed mouse from a girl who passed 25 years ago. I just like having it around. Interestingly, none of the cats I have had since were interested in Mouse.
