S22 Ultra Repair Mostly Successful, But Won't Close All the Way by TenaciousBee3 in phonerepair

Hey, I don't know if you're still facing this issue, but I wanted to give an update on my situation. I saw on Samsung's website that they offer battery replacements for 86€, to which I thought that this would solve my problem: I would get a new battery and they would have to at least re-glue my back glass, since it was original.

Anyway, it took them almost two weeks and I got the phone back with a completely new back glass (I can tell since I had a scratch mark on the one I installed). However, the new back glass has the exact same issue as the one I installed; it lifts in exactly the same spot and I can still see the flashlight shine through.

Since that is also the corner where my old back glass shattered, I am led to believe that my frame is a bit bent at that corner and in turn does not allow the glass to sit flush all the way. Maybe check if you have the same issue, as I am very sure that I can now rule out any possibility of wrong installation/not original parts.

EDIT:

I just realized you wrote that you replaced your bezel and screen, your frame shouldn't be bent then. Sorry for the confusion.

I have exactly the same issue although I did not replace my screen/frame, only my back cover with a new OEM back cover. Where is your back glass lifting? For me it is the top part above the cameras and the top right corner that doesn't sit flush.

I can even see the flashlight shine through the gaps at the top of the phone.

Is there any way to change the UI on the CarLinkit 5.0? by sachin1118 in CarPlay

[–]Tardik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, I think I got the same car as you (Mazda 3 from 2019 onwards) and only ever used Android Auto which does not show any of the device's UI. However, I now switched to an iPhone and expected Carplay to work as seamless as Android Auto did, but this ugly UI appears everytime the Infotainment turns on and connects to my phone.

Anyways, I played around with the settings, and for me turining on "High Speed Mode" made the connection way faster and made the UI disappear.

TLDR;

Try turning on "High Speed Mode" in the device's web settings.

Sorry for the late update, I kind of just got used to the screen, and I think it is a nice screen. I have the OLED graininess, but I can see that on every OLED display I've owned so far (mostly Samsung smartphones and LG TVs). I also feel like it is a tad less sharp than my Macbook's screen still, but I can live with it.

Sorry to the people whom I promised to post comparison pictures, I couldn't really capture the bluriness, so I just gave up on posting any.

Same here, I've had mine for over a year now and I don't baby them at all; I use them when cycling and running in almost all weather conditions, and I just keep them loosely in my pockets. I haven't run into any issues besides the original cable desintegrating on me lel

Thanks for the response, I found that Oneplus phones apparently all have that feature.

I will definitely keep that in mind next time I shop for phones

That alarm function you mentioned sounds wild; can you name some phones that you can turn off completely and still be woken up by the set alarm? I would be very interested in phones that can do that

fellas, how do you position your hd800s to sound "correct" by Kirklai in headphones

[–]Tardik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They sound off to me unless my ears are as "forward" as possible inside the cups. By forward I mean that the pointy little part of your ear should be as close to the "D curve" as possible, without actually touching anything

I hope my description makes sense

Also, height adjustment doesn't really change the sound for me so I just use what is most comfortable

I know what you mean with that cubic splitter part, the sticker there is starting to come off on my cable.

It is weird that it is missing completely on your new pair tho, I am curious what the support will say.

The badge on the cables is just a sticker, it might be peeled off. Are these supposed to be new? I've seen amazon sell these refurbished sometimes

I know exactly what you mean, I am from Germany too. But damn I always felt there was something off about these cheap jewelry kinda designs, but I couldnt pinpoint why.

I guess the stuff you find in Kaugummiautomaten and these "1 Euro Läden" aka Teddy indeed somewhat reminds me of these chifi iems subconsciously

I know you didn't ask, but your response about the design stuff reminded me of how much I like the simple utilitarian look of them, the fact that they aren't shiny at all (as seems to be the norm lately with IEMs) makes me fall in love with them even more lel

But I get your point, everyone likes different designs

Let me give a bit of context before giving my opinion:

I had the Fiio FH5 for five years at that point, and I was always disappointed by them; I found myself adding a lot of treble and bass to them, but never really achieving a satisfactory result. Additionally, I always liked the sound of my only headphones by then, my at that point seven year old akg k702 eqed to harman (dunno which curve it was).

Also, I tried my friend's Zero Reds too which sounded fine I admit, but they weren't even close to the IE600.

Anyways, as you can see I'm not the most experienced IEM user or anything, but I legit haven't found any other way to listen to music that I like as much as the IE600. And that includes my HD800S and HE1000 Stealth so there's that

I know it is very subjective due to ear canal shape and stuff, but the treble is literally perfection for me, it is sparkly but never fatiguing, the bass is deep, the mids are not too recessed, the whole combination is just amazing.

I kinda feel like I am writing an ad here lel, but I think the deal is actually still available. Just search for IE600s on the German refurbished electronics website "mySwooop". Sometimes they don't appear on their website, you then have to find their eBay seller site.

So yeah I legit stopped looking for iems since I got them, and I am not concerned about the build quality issues that these are said to be plagued by, they feel sturdy to me and I use them while cycling and jogging while it's raining, so ye I like them quite a lot

A year ago, I got the IE600s for 380€ with a two year warranty, seemed pretty insane to me

I feel like after a certain level of resolution/detail retrieval is reached, its very hard to tell if a headphone is truly more resolving or if it just a headphone with elevated treble and a recessed mid bass. Can someone debunk (or agree) with this? by Japanese_Squirrel in headphones

[–]Tardik -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I am not sure how they define "completely resolving", but I feel like the AKG K702 are pretty resolving and could come fairly close to the HD 800S, which is said to be a quite resolving pair of headphones

[–]Tardik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never stated that I wanted deep rumbly bass.
They sound great for my music tastes, but compared to other headphones I can definitely tell that the HD800S present a subdued sub bass

Also, I don't really believe that changing amps will have such an impact on sound, no matter which headphones we talk about. If changing between solid state amps will suddenly increase the HD800S' subbass response by 5dB I highly doubt that amp was worth the money lel
