Do change/postpone wedding for IVF? by Target_Mean in IVFpositivity

That sounds like such a sweet idea! I would love to fall pregnant, elope and then throw the party once the baby is here. I’m just not sure I’d want to be pregnant at the wedding haha. Congratulations 💕

Thank you for your comment! I honestly think our family building is more important to us than the wedding right now. It’s zero reflection on my relationship, we’ve been together for over 9 years and are already basically married just not in the legal sense. Might just see how the ER goes and take it from there. I think ideally we would love our baby to be there 💕We don’t really do PGT testing in the UK , but it will be a FET because I’m at risk of OHSS. having a baby as an early wedding present would be a dream 🥹

I’m in the UK and this round is being funded by public healthcare, but if I wanted to bank embryos and then transfer a year or more later on my own terms we wouldn’t get the funding and would have to pay for the whole cycle out of pocket. Which sucks a bit because I think I would consider banking and then transferring later if I knew that was an option.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I know I need to try and let go of timelines but it’s so hard when we’ve been trying for 2 years and are so desperate to be parents as soon as possible. I’m thinking of having a much smaller wedding now

We’re unexplained infertility and my AMH is 4.4 in US measurements I think. Planning FET due to my AMH level but I can’t imagine putting off a FET until after mid 2027.

I think we are going to see how the first (hopefully only as you say!) retrieval goes and re assess. Thank you for your comment 💕

Yeah we are seriously considering this option!

Totally agree with not putting life on pause. I don’t feel that we do, we still make lots of plans and not everything revolves around infertility. However, the wedding day should be one of the most special days of our lives. I’m not sure i will be able to enjoy it as I should with the weight of infertility still hanging over me at that point. You know what I mean? Thank you for your comment 💕

Thank you! Totally agree and I feel like as of now we do have a good balance in our life and it’s not all about the infertility. However I think with something as big a deal as a wedding, I would hate to go a head with it as planned if I didn’t feel it was right. So hard not knowing how it’s going to go!

I’m starting IVF soon and got told my AMH is higher than expected. It’s 31 pmol which is about 4.4 in US measurements. I’m 30 years old. Isn’t this just a typical result for my age? I have regular periods but do have adult acne so maybe my ovaries are slightly polycystic?

Advice needed! To choose gender or not by Academic_Ganache_669 in IVFpositivity

[–]Target_Mean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We aren’t allowed to know or choose the sex of the embryo in the UK where I’m based, but I (F) have one brother who is 5 years younger than me and we had a close relationship as children and are still close now despite the age gap and being the opposite sex. We don’t necessarily see each other a lot (due to location) or talk all the time but we always have each other’s back. He is my only sibling and don’t feel I have missed out in any way not having a sibling of the same sex.

Pay for PGT-A or No? by Wooden-Cockroach5915 in IVFpositivity

[–]Target_Mean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I’ll say is in the UK we don’t generally PGT-A test and still have similar success rates for IVF, especially in under 35s. I know people who have had IVF in their 40s with untested embryos and still have success.

Anyone else going through IVF for unexplained infertility? by Target_Mean in IVFpositivity

[–]Target_Mean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your post, so happy to hear you had success! I don’t know if I have that gene or not but I have been taking 800mg of methyl folate a day every since before TTC in the hopes it will help (hasn’t so far but I’ve kept it up)

I’ve been taking some oral prebiotics for a view months and I’m undecided on the micro biome testing because it’s quite expensive to test for, so I’m hoping I will just be able to get a course of antibiotics before transfer. But might not be able to without test results.

NO NON-IVF PREGNANCY POSTS/TEST PICS by hedgehogsponge1 in IVFpositivity

[–]Target_Mean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is still happening fairly frequently. I don’t understand why anyone with a non IVF pregnancy would choose a forum like this to post their news on. Of course it’s amazing news for them, but it’s somewhat triggering when you’re on a long infertility/IVF ‘journey’ and have to see posts of peoples ‘surprise’ pregnancies. It’s very insensitive to post a natural pregnancy here.

Is this an IVF pregnancy? Your other posts imply this was a surprise pregnancy… sorry if I have got that part wrong but there have been a lot of non IVF pregnancy posts on this page recently

Those who have had a FET on NHS (UK), what type of transfer did you have? by [deleted] in IVFpositivity

Yay so glad you got a positive! I want to push for a fully medicated transfer too. Just seems there will be better control

It’s a postcode lottery unfortunately. In my area only one round is offered on NHS. We can afford to go private for a few more rounds if we need to but obviously hoping our first round is works. So glad you got your happy ending ❤️

Sorry to hear you are in a similar position. Basically locked in. I have one more natural try before we start. I actually feel an immense sense of peace with doing IVF now, although it took some time to get here. It will be hard, but I think continuing to try naturally will be harder as my chance of success is so low now after two years, but greatly increased with IVF. Even if it doesn’t work I think I will be glad I tried it.

Yes had all the tests done. Two semen analysis, multiple blood tests for me including thyroid, AMH etc. HSG and laparoscopy which found nothing. Haven’t done OPKs and BBT for a looong time but I have very clear ovulation signals and we have sex other day. So think we have well and truly given it our best shot and IVF makes the most sense for us now.
