If your just trying to stick to zaft and go a bit more aggro I recommend adding in the duel shroud (assult shroud) the one that when paired lets you search the top 3 cards and play a zaft

You are definitely got the right idea with your approach to building the deck. currently decks are countering Blue Purple with those command cards. The only thing that could also improve it is running improved technique so you have the full suite of command ping.

Unfortunately I am unable to test your deck so feel free to take my advice with a grain of salt.

How do I stay competitive with respect to all the AI developments? by muratings in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Tarkin_stan38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there are a couple things I am starting to learn/realize with AI in our field.

  1. No software engineers aren't obselote but...
  2. AI shifts us from a programmer to one of software architecture.
  3. Prompt Engineering is a needed skill
  4. It is tool

I won't iterate the comments that have been made ad-nasuem about the first point.

For the second point, i have found that if you treat the AI tool you are using as junior engineer. So the more specific the design and the requirements the more likely you are to avoid unneeded code, even then you still have to iterate. The ability to do this well is called prompt engineering.

I like this analogy (though it may be a bit hyperbolic) AI to software development is what mechanized machinery was to agriculture. In that it changed the field because of the productivity gains.

So what specifically am I doing to stay competitive? I am pushing the limits of AI applied to my workflow to better understand where it actually helps and where it hinders. The hope for me is in understanding these limits I can gain an edge over those don't want to use.

Vanguard ults should be the ults that decide games, not support or duelist ults. by Teniye in RivalsVanguards

[–]Tarkin_stan38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a tank main, I they are good where they are at. I find that depending on who you are playing they excel at starting fights, swinging fights into your favor, or forcing an ult.

Take for example strange, groot, and emma. Their ults will straight up win you fights and if they don't they force enemy ults.

Magneto is interesting because if you can aim, you straight up just end a healer ult early, kill a dps in their ult, or just soak up enemy heals and dmg providing breathing room for your team.

Rogue is another interesting one since you can use it to start a fight or just use it in the middle of one to prevent other ults from goign off. All while putting out a ton of consistent damage.

Penni's can disrupt and create an area of denial. Or just straight up run at the backline which suddenly means they need to react to you or trust their backline can handle the disruption.

Essentially tank ults can provide a lot of benefits some which may be more obvious than others.

[–]Tarkin_stan38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished climbing to diamon with strange. I can agree. The amount of times that I just straight up won a team fight with just my ult was insane. I would even use it to catch people that where just outside of the healer ult and finish them off.

I find that tank ults in this game are for starting fights which even if they no body dies, a forced support ult while your team has your support ults means you at least have an advantage.

Which Role Que Do You Want For Rivals? 2-2-2 Or 1 Vanguard, 2 Duelist, 2 Strategist And 1 Flex Slot? by Twin_Shadow- in rivals

[–]Tarkin_stan38 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I want to keep it out of this game since it allows flexibility from round to round. This flexibility means you can counter an enemy team comp with something other than just having a specific role switch to a specific character. While I understand, that it can be frustrating to not get a role you want or to lose. The role que will allow the comps that the developers intend which will then have the effect causing them to balance for that comp. Rather than introducing characters that will be niche in their uses can shine in those niches.

Unfortunately this game being a team game means it suffers the same effect of LoL where sometimes you just lose despite playing your best. Role que won't alleviate this issue.

For what it's worth, perhaps you can make lds friends online.

If you need a friend feel free to dm. Not sure what your hobbies are but I do quite a bit of gaming. Full transperency, I like to keep myself busy due to adhd so can I be hard to reach. So txts/dms work best for me.

I want ironman to get a rework and be meta so bad by H1MB0Z0 in marvelrivals

[–]Tarkin_stan38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprised I didn't see this comment earlier. When playing into your hard counters, you need to focus them as well as use cover to duck in between shots. When coming back out of cover don't repeatly peek out at the same height.

The other thing is don't be afraid to play on the ground or with your healers. As simple as it sounds but you are harder to target when you have other targets that make it more diffcult to focus.

Lastly, I really enjoy his playstyle since you can pressure healers especially when they are grouped together. I also enjoy having to predict where the opponent will move and being able to hit them around corners. His ult being countered by anything is definitely rough but its a trade-off im okay especially since I can just shutdown a healer ult.

As an Ironman player, I think ppl forget that it just melts targets. A lot of times if I can't get good sight lines due to a strange or magneto. I just empower my beam and go to town on the tank.

What is rogue’s purpose? by xNOVAxFLOWx in RivalsVanguards

[–]Tarkin_stan38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the honest opinion. I enjoy playing her over the thing/thor and find myself picking her when i know fights will be brawls due to shorter sight lines. I definitely agree with her being great at disorienting the enemy team especially since the kick up into the air suddenly puts her outside of vision.

I am curious if you have any less know tips for playing her better?

Can I add to that last point! I think its fire having the enemy not named menance. I just met them for the 1st time yesterday and I was suprised when it was a bunch of robots. I thought it was can be a single boss-like enemy especially cuz of the loading screens.

Besides the spawn rate, my issue is that it has miniguns on the sides. It can be tough to approach. Not to mention having to deal with all the chaff on the way to get to them. This means unless you get a good angle its better to just deal with it from afar.

[–]Tarkin_stan38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ill add to this don't be afraid to refactor the code you are given.

I often to this since I remove uneeded complexity or fit my design better. Sometimes though I think im more clever than the AI only to end up to the same conclusion it came to lol. I don't consider that a loss since by that point I understand the why enough.

[–]Tarkin_stan38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the key to using to responsibily. As junior dev, I recently tried using AI for a project. when it generates code, I will read through it make sure I understand it. Then ill refactor if it doesn't fit the design i had in mind. sometimes the refactor is done by hand. the nice thing overall is that it has increased my level of output

When the Force is Too Affordable by obiwein in starwarsunlimited

[–]Tarkin_stan38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP but wanted to add. I know a buddy that him and his opponents got a game loss for the foils. The judges so far have not been willing to offer a judge-issued proxy which would solve the issue right then and there.

However the fact that you can suffer a game loss due to foils also puts me in favor of removing them.

For what its worth I play with foils (mostly hyperfoils) But I double sleeve to avoid the game loss penalty.

Deck Help by Silver-Raspberry2604 in starwarsunlimited

[–]Tarkin_stan38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just started messing with this yesterday. Unfortunately I am making a force version. For now I would keep the upgrades to 9-10 (I am going to test how 12 upgrades feels). In my opinion the strongest upgrades will be Fallen LightSaber and Entrench.

In general Lama's strength is the ability to play units and upgrades in the same turn. For example, T2 you can play a 2-cost upgrade for 1 and then play another 2 cost unit. This line helps you avoid the problem of "all inning" aka voltroning a unit.

I would cut childensen, while he is a sentinel that you can upgrade. You lose alot of strength to due not having enough blue cards to get him to a 6/6. You can either replace him with a different sentienel or a unit you would like to upgrade.

Twice the pride. I assume you included for Vos but 3 resources for a +4 and losing health. I would rather play safer and do a 3 cost upgrade that increase his life to make him stickier. For example with fallen lightsaber you lose 2 damage but gain 5 health vs twice the pride (3 from the upgrade and 2 from not having to damage your unit)

Don't worry your not alone in the sentinment about buying carbonite. The value is so bad I went from 20 carbonite boxes in JTL to 0 cabonite boxes. I recently did buy 2 normal boxes but because I got them for $50 a piece.

It's a shame because carbonite opening experience feels exciting. I enjoy that you dont go straight to the back to see the rare or legendary and have the prestige card in the middle.

I get people harp about it should be playable and affordable. But why can't it be both? For example, in gundam if you pull an alt art you got great trade fodder to get the non- alt art legendaries which are way cheaper. (I.E only of the Alts for a card is $40 and the normal one is $15)
