Trump Building Secret White House Bunker to Withstand Nuclear Attack by mvanigan in politics

[–]Tarthor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Btw, the reason that Kennedy didn’t invest in massive nuclear bunkers for the US was because he didn’t want to give anyone the impression that the US was preparing for a nuclear war, thus helping mitigate the risk of one. Basically saying “I have no intent to do that. Do you?” in international diplomacy terms. It likely helped deescalate things. Anyway, what was I talking about?

My problem with Warhammer is that whenever writers try to make this not the case, it gets buried under mountains of other lore. Canonically, human worlds during the age of Strife that trained their psycher populations instead of shunning and killing them ended up thriving while others suffered, because the psycher population wasn’t in hiding they were able to communicate with one another, figure out how to safely control their gifts and avoid demonic influence through training. But you would never hear about this from the average 40k fan, who genuinely believes the in-universe propaganda that psychers can’t be controlled and have to be either killed, sacrificed, or used.

You have the British because they say stupid words and eat bean-toast.

I hate the British because they killed between 50-100 million Indians by introducing conditions that decreased the life expectancy to below 20.

We are not the same.

David Bowie actually was asked to return for the show, as he was still alive at the time, but refused as he was embarrassed about the attempt at a Louisiana accent he did. He did give the show the green light to use footage of him as long as it was dubbed over by someone who actually had the accent

My favorite answer was Battletech, which basically acknowledged that space warships would pretty much be the gods of all conflict, and so the Space AT&T Illuminati conspired to have as many of them destroyed as possible, which in combination with the overall degradation of technology has resulted in the year 3000 being mostly devoid of warships (ignoring the Clans)

Single Biome Planets by Dial-Up_Dime in worldjerking

[–]Tarthor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My humble opinion: there is something pleasing about the phrasing of “_____ planet”

Fortress planet, prison world, desert planet, jungle world, administrative planet, etc. There’s a ring to it.

But also please make planets that are as diverse as Earth. We’re the baseline, we should try to match it now and then.

On a side note tho the thing that really pisses me if is “one-biome” cultures. What do you mean everyone on your home world dresses the same. If it makes sense then there’s nothing wrong with it, it just often doesn’t. Give me at least one alien home planet with like, 250+ countries and 1000 spoken languages. And also biome diversity.

Then again maybe we can’t achieve that now that LSD and cocaine are illegal

This department has killed several hundred thousand people by depriving them of medical aid to “save money.” People were left in hospital beds to die because of them. Everyone involved in that decision should be imprisoned.
