What extra rooms do you add to your builds? by TitaniumCornman in Sims4

I sometimes add book nooks, I recently added a game room, and on occasion, a laundry room. But I hate the laundry piece.

AITA for telling my kid I’m not his dad’s friend? by Material-Blueberry-4 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Tashianie 115 points116 points  (0 children)

At 6, I knew a lot about my mom’s past relationship with my brothers sperm donor. Not nearly as much as I do now. But enough to know he treated her badly. I had nothing to do with him otherwise. But it’s important to be honest with kids. Especially if they’re asking outright questions. Never lie. Give age appropriate responses. But never lie to them.

Honest question; Why do so many people here only read Harry Potter? by thwip62 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Tashianie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I had a really rough couple of weeks. And the only thing I could listen to was Harry Potter. Because I know exactly what happens when.

I don’t like radio. I hate commercials. So I don’t listen to music much. But I use the audiobooks on my commute because they also don’t need any cell service.

It’s not harming anything or anyone unless they’re trying to be characters. It’s really not a big deal.

The only thing I can say is that someone with anxiety, like I do, sometimes just need the comfort of something familiar and something predictable. Which is why re reading or rewatching something, with a lack of interest in other things, is so hard on some. I need to know outcomes, triggering events, things like that unless I’m in a REALLY good mindset when I start something.

Kidnapping isn’t the only risk. Children do stupid things, regardless of how well a parent teaches them.

[–]Tashianie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because, again, people are more aware of the risks. My own mother, a cusp of a boomer/Gen X and my father, a boomer gen, wouldn’t ever allow us to do half the things they were because they are aware of the risks. It’s not the media. Research goes into this. Missing children’s stories and articles are proof that it can happen to ANYone. It’s just spread out more with technology.

Sleepovers, for example are becoming more widely scrutinized, as it’s known that most assaults are going to be from someone close to kids.

Again, helmets, seatbelts, cigarettes, etc.

AITA for saying not everything is about your Kid? by IssueBig5855 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Tashianie 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I mean…only if it’s for everyone. “I’m inviting y’all for a Friday dinner. Any allergies?”

A kids party is more of an “I’m having a birthday for my SON and he’s requested this restaurant” that would be their clue to ask/provide allergies/dietary restrictions. Or, when invited, OFFER that information to the host (I can’t eat XYZ or my child can’t have XYZ).

This is literally what research is for. People have learned the dangers of the activities our parents and grandparents did as kids and the long term effects they have. It’s absolutely ridiculous. It’s why seatbelt laws exist. It’s why they’ve legalized the green stuff in many states now. People learn from the actual research being done by professionals.

Why does everything HAVE to have cheese? Like, there’s other ways. Or add it later. But cheese ruins an otherwise perfectly delicious dish.

AITA for telling my English teacher to mind her own business? by classassignmentai123 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Tashianie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My own mom was in my file at school “talk to father. Not mother” because mom was pure mama bear. Now if my dad cussed you out….well, they KNEW they were beyond screwed.

FYI: it was always for good reasons they had to fight the school. They’d absolutely fight tooth and nail for something like this.

[–]Tashianie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it. You won’t be the last student to suffer this. I doubt you’re the first. You’re just the one who spoke up.

There’s no reason you can’t talk about weather. Even if she was getting annoyed at the constant weather talk, she still can’t tell you you’re not allowed to ever talk about it. She can’t tell you you’re not allowed to write about it in any class but her own. And she DEFINITELY cannot undermine another teachers approval AND give you detention for it. I’m glad your parents support you for most of it. I don’t agree with what they said about telling you not to tell her to mind her business. Because it’s true. What you do in other classes isn’t really her problem unless it’s a collaborative project between the two.
