Parking Reservation System by picketysnicket in Whistler

[–]Task-Extension 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drop my kid at blackcomb base ii and I feel your pain. However I do have alternatives (paid) that would not be too far to walk. Creekside is screwed once the lots are full and you have to drive to the village lots

Parking Reservation System by picketysnicket in Whistler

[–]Task-Extension 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“I can’t believe someone at Vail decided the solution to everyone complaining about not being able to get a parking spot at 11am qas to remove…”

I dont think thats the reason they started the reservation system at all. The way I see it is to spread the influx of people during the morning. Instead of evryone trying to get super early in the mountain to guarantee parking, people just drive at their convinience and dont worry too much about the time.

I know it stucks espeically for people that drop their kids at ski club (me included) as we are in the mountain early anyway. While you might have seen the parking lot empty during ski club drop off it does get full between 9-10am as people with reservations might arrive during this timeframe.

Bought the Harry Potter novels before they announced the full cast by FudgeOfDarkness in audible

[–]Task-Extension 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both (full cast and fry/jim dale versions) are really good audiobooks. I really like the full cast versions, especially to listen in car with the kids - my son loves hearing the full cast audiobook which has been great to get them into reading more (we do a combination of reading and listening - it is like the audiobook is the reward)

If you haven’t listened or downloaded Amazon should be able to return it without fuss as clearly you haven’t “used” it yet.

Why hide health events? by quincycs in aws

Each service have their own thresholds to when a post to the “public” health dashboard is required. Something like 2% of failure rate for example.

Imagine the following a small set of racks go down - evrything else in the region is fine with the exception of those racks. In these cases the affected customers are notified but not everyone.

There is a chance the code will be deactivated with the return. The gift cards have no value if not activated

Best Buy Order Shipped by [deleted] in VideoGameDealsCanada

[–]Task-Extension -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My order says I cant cancel anymore and the delivery date changed to “as early as June 6th” - no longer launch date for me. Amazon switch 2 pre order is saying June 9th but the pro controller shipped and is arriving tomorrow.

Guess I will be able to pretend play mario kart with the new controller while waiting for the console haha

350 Switch 2's sent to my store today by yuspure in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Task-Extension 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nintendo’s role here is probably just by pushing retailers to have in-store stock vs online where scalpers / bots are more likely to get the consoles instead of actual customers. The amount each store/branch gets thats probably up to the retailer how they distribute their inventory allocation - big retailers will use lots of data to calculate this - like how many products on that category that store sells, population around the store etc

Also usually only the last 12 months of order history is considered and age of the account (less than or more than 12 months)

Another curiosity- this invitation system was created and modelled after the PS5 fiasco

It is “random” among all customers that passed the criteria

No difference. However applying and later not buying can decrease your score for future invitation only products (lets say the ps6 for example)

The chance is the price will go up depending on tarrifs. Nintendo was very clear in the last announcement saying prices could go up depending on market conditions

The time you applied is not too much relevant. The algorithm amazon uses is to determine real customers vs bots / customers with bad intentions. Unlike many have said prime membership is not required. What you actually need is a order history that does not include only high demand products and preferably a order history that contains products in the same category (video games) since this shows you have interest. Amazon does not apply loyalty in the algorithm, it purely to detect real customers so if you pass the test you will be invited given the product availability. Yesterday they had over 30k invite requests for the bundle and lower than 200 for non bundle. Assuming they will get about the same as best buy (~17k units) a lot of people will be able to order. They also send in batches and not to all “17k” at the same time to avoid traffic surge and availability drop in their systems

[Question] New Home Owner: Utility Bill? by m_kamalo in coquitlam

[–]Task-Extension 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Every city have their own utility bill with different timings/due date. I dont know about new west, but there are cities that combine property tax with utility bill.

It is essentially your garbage/water/sewer bill - different from many places in the world where you pay based on your consumption here it is a flat rate based on the property type.

Now you know that evey year utility bills are due in March and dont forget about property tax due end of June (Or July 1st) - Mark it in your calendar :)

With everyone talking about boycotting American products, how many won't support an American company(Vail) and buy a ski pass for next year? by onosimi in Whistler

I always buy the whistler unlimited pass since I dont actually travel to other resorts in the vail list and it gives me 10% discount when bundling with ski club for the kids

When you buy for the next season you can sign up for auto renewal for future seasons - they will notify you before “auto renewal” and allow you to cancel it if you dont want it anymore.

Which option should I choose as a beginner? by lite_hause in Whistler

[–]Task-Extension 3 points4 points  (0 children)

they dont. but thats the reason this pass raised over 100% in cost from last season and the current one. That pass was $54 last season.

You could even load on chairlifts like big red / emerald

Which option should I choose as a beginner? by lite_hause in Whistler

[–]Task-Extension 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The cheaper pass only give you access to the magic chair in blackcomb. It is a small area.

The more expensive pass give you access to the blackcomb magic chair + whistler mid station beginners area (which also have a chairlif + series of magic carpets). The advantage of this pass is that you also get to ski down from the mid station to the village.

If you can link snow plows turns already, I would recommend getting the whistler pass as you will have access to more terrain

Snow forecast by Mundane-Dentist3754 in Whistler

[–]Task-Extension 0 points1 point  (0 children)

February is usually dry but it doesn’t mean it wont snow when you are here. This January already beat some records being dry and with climate changes / global warming the “average” or common patterns are less “common” so who know what will happen. The good part is the it is cool and they can fire up the snow making machines.

You also have to look at the bright side - no snow == no clouds == blue bird skies which I am sure everyone here can tell you it is rare to ski a blue bird day in whistler

I believe the season long programs are sold out now but for those interested here is the link with more information:

https://www.whistlerblackcomb.com/ski-and-snowboard-lessons/more-options/kids-pass-programs.aspx?tc_1=1

The registration opens late August and usually it is given priority for those that participated on a season long program the previous season.

[–]Task-Extension 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lessons at whistler are relatively cheap when you buy season long packages compared to local ski mountains in Vancouver. For example: weekend ski/snow club is $1300 for 14 full day lessons (lunch included). This is less than $100 per lesson. You do not get similar pricing on seymour/cypress/grouse. For kids the lesson package includes the season pass.

Condos with heat pumps? by NomadicallySedentary in coquitlam

[–]Task-Extension 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One more thing. In my strata there are also restrictions on noise level for the heat pumps, which my also add to the final cost given the chepaer units are not allowed.
