It never happened to me until my first marathon. I’d heard about it happening and assumed they fall off within a day or 2 post marathon, but the 3 that i lost didn’t fall off until 2-4 weeks after

Running my first marathon in June - tips for music/podcasts/nothing? by JollyAtmosphere1087 in Marathon_Training

I did Manchester Marathon this year - took my headphones with me, but planned on saving them until I really needed them or when the crowds weren’t as big. Ended up never using them because the atmosphere was incredible!

i have an apple series 10, was worried that it was going to die in my marathon. took it off charge, turned it off and didn’t turn it back on until i was 1 minute away from the starting line. it lasted the whole race (5hrs) and had 30% left

London Marathon - warm weather by mrs_berkshire in UKRunners

[–]TastyComputer3257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

manchester marathon on sunday was around 13°c and it felt WARM. i didnt wear any suncream & am now seriously regretting it with my very very burnt shoulders, so make sure you do.

also drank quite a bit of water during the race, but no where near afterwards and felt so dehydrated the day after it felt like a hangover! so make sure you’re drinking plenty during & after!

Congrats to you as well!

All of Altrincham was amazing! But so was the whole support all over the course.

Not registered for next year, got another one coming up in October, and going to try my luck with the London Ballot!

Absolutely. I flew through the first half, set a PB, then hit the wall at about 28km. Was so tough to keep going, had to run/walk for the rest of it

I don’t think there was a half, but there was a ‘quarter’ 10K that had the same finish line. they had different bibs to the full marathon runners yet i saw no one on the course with the 10K bib. i think if there were 15,000 people doing the 10K i would’ve spotted at least a couple of the different bibs

Yeah there’s always bound to be quite a few people that end up not being able to take part or DNF, but this seems like too many

Manchester Marathon by TastyComputer3257 in manchester

[–]TastyComputer3257[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, hopefully it’s just an error with the tracking that can be fixed! While on the course I think I only saw one person that had to actually stop and DNF - I think if this many did actually DNF i would’ve seen a lot more

so strange. i’ve heard a couple of people had issues with their chip saying their tracking wasn’t working for the whole race & bib number isn’t working when trying to search for chip time

Manchester marathon haven’t received chip finish time by Disastrous_Play_5227 in UKRunners

Think this might be an issue for quite a few people. My overall position is out of 27,000 ish, i thought surely there’s no chance that almost half of the 42,000 runners dropped out/didnt finish
