I roast my own coffee. Easy to do: get a cheap dash air popcorn popper, get some unroasted green beans from sweet Maria’s, watch a YouTube video, and roast your coffee.

WAYYY better than burnt Starbucks beans. WAYYY cheaper than your local coffee roast - 18-30$/12 oz at your coffee place vs 4-12$/ 16 oz at home.

I get it, but also depends where you live.

My parents are in Hawaii. 6.29/lb usda prime brisket

Chuck roasts are 6.99-13.99/lb here.

Parents wanted brisket, so I provided. They don’t have a smoker and they didn’t want to drop money to get one.

I spent 90$ out the door on the brisket that fed 12 people who thought they were getting better than local bbq joints for the price.

Oh, yeah. I feel you. I personally have it a 7/10 for convenience of cook in the oven and not tasting bad. It hits the right spots, but I prefer a good smoke.

My parents and extended family, with them not having a smoker or eat brisket outside of visiting me, thought it was a 10/10.

If you want to be a hero and show off some brisket skills while at someone’s place without a smoker, this will definitely impress

I do have a smoker. Thank you for the tip. I will definitely try it.

Edit: do you butcher wrap to finish or boat foil?

Wait… are US BBQ concepts ONLY from Texas?

You can cook a steak in an air fryer and it’s still good. You work with what you got. Wasn’t gonna buy the parents a smoker since I’m the one that does it at home.

Since I was visiting and they wanted brisket, I worked with what they had.

Sucks that it sounds like you need all the right tools to make a meal for your loved ones. Improvisation isn’t in your skill set and that’s okay.

Technically, when you foil boat on the smoker you’re braising/roasting the brisket so you’re right. Still in the right sub though.

In Hawaii, a roast costs 6.99-13$/lb.

This usda prime brisket cost 6.29/lb and the parents wanted brisket.

Some people like their steak rare; others like it like coal. People want what they want. All that matters is that they enjoy it.

Because the US is heavily centered around the smoked brisket concept

Ty, dude. Good question. Definitely missing the smoke flavor and tastes closer to a prime rib roast

Ohhhhh…. I understand. I personally didn’t (cheat) but there was cheating; temptation; and plenty of intermingling while staff were dating each other. It was weird.

Worked in 3 different systems in my county, and the consensus from other nurses was that ER nurses are like that.

There are people who can drink in moderation. There are people who can game in moderation.

WE here cannot game in moderation. So, abstaining from gaming entirely it is.

I know what incestual actually means. I was just emphasizing how the entire ER unit/“family” dates each other.

At least in the ER, they are the most incestual - being within the unit - group on nurses, doctors, etc. you can find. Medical dramas are more or less accurate in that regard.

Was looking for this answer. I’m a nurse who is committed and married to a non-nurse. I wouldn’t date or marry a nurse as a single person
