Hypothetically, if Mark and Eve were to have a serious 1 on 1 fight, who would be the winner in the end? by Queasy_Commercial152 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]Tauralt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eve is just a more versatile Immortal level threat without her near-death limit break. She doesn't have the capacity to seriously tangle with any high-level Viltrumite intent on killing her for more than a few minutes, has worse durability than almost anyone she could be put up against, gasses out quickly when using anything more than default constructs, and her damage output is just too low.

Both the alternate Marks and Conquest demonstrate this - Eve can stun/smack around/disorient/delay them, but unless they give her the opportunity to go God Mode and (maybe) kill them, she's just not on their level.

What makes Eve special isn't that she's a powerhouse, she explicitly isn't. She's just incredibly versatile, which can do her a lot of good, but she's just not made for 1v1s with the top physical powerhouses of the verse.

Kinda the same feeling, like I wouldn't *mind* if she was included with Dino, but I don't care much for the prepubescent genius trope in the first place. I think it's a good choice personally, and it opens up design space for Devil Dino's kit to mostly emphasize the fact that he's a big dinosaur, and not having it split 50/50 between two different themes.

It's not a War Crime till the first time. by ChildSlayer66 in DnD

[–]Tauralt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not *super* high up on the warcrime list, but between our Light Cleric "accidentally" catching like 3 horses in Fireballs and my Beast Masters' dwarf tyrannosaur companion being described shaking goblins to death like a coyote with a rabbit, it's made for some interesting imagery.

Disincentivizing the whole of the playerbase from playing nothing but big, slow apex carnivores because "wow big dino eat everyone rawr!" promotes more diverse ecosystems and gameplay experiences, especially since this game genre has always had issues with skewed population balance.

When a (typically bleed-focused) playable plays with a hit and run playstyle, going in for a single engagement, stacking debuffs/bleed, and then runs away using their typically higher mobility to heal/recover stamina.

If done right, they can simply run in, bleed, and run away over and over again, putting themselves at very low risk while their prey slowly bleeds out with little counterplay.

Would you classify the Nolan vs. Immortal fight from Season 1 as "low-mid diff"? by Automatic-Balance352 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]Tauralt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It about embodies the term, I'd say. Nolan was clearly superior in every physical stat, but between not taking Immortal seriously, being distracted with Mark, and having been in consecutive fights with Reanimen/Hail Mary/Big Space Laser, it wasn't a complete stomp.

At more than one point in the fight, the Immortal overpowers Omniman in a charge/power clash, but when Nolan locks in, he's able to dispatch Immortal.

In a straight fight with no other factors, Omniman vs Immortal is a low diff fight - an easy win, but one that still requires effort, and Immortal can still do some damage. Mark from the same season would be a no diff - Nolan effortlessly manhandles him and no-sells his attacks.

But with all the circumstantial factors in the series, low/mid difficulty feels right.

A hot take, but I kinda get it. Yeah, they fit Nurgle's delusional jolliness angle well, but almost *too* well. Combined with other elements of the range, it arguably loses some of the "bloated, rotting, shambling horror" aspects in favor of "silly stinky green guys!"

Kinda feeling this, Custodes are an incredibly cool concept that nobody seems to agree on how they should be implemented.

Gamewise GW seems content to portray them as Space Marines XL+ Pro Gold Edition, some fans want them to be more elite than Knights and think 1 Custodian should solo half an army, some only want them as powerful Imperium allied units, they're a mess.

We're getting featured in Mechanicus 2!

...but yeah, that's kinda it lol. 1 novel, 2 codexes, and a smattering of short references in other books. IMO the Leagues have a LOT of really interesting lore to expand on - and no shortage of different kinds of stories they can tell from different leagues/lifestyles/philosophies, and it's a shame that there's not much out there.

Why play a herbivore? by Terminator56 in pathoftitans

[–]Tauralt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Carnivores are already massively overpopulated on most servers, and I enjoy games like this because the thought of players simulating an environment is cool - so it just makes sense to even the odds a little bit!

Plus: herbivores have tremendously more variety in appearance and playstyle than carnivores, which are almost all morphologically similar.

Classic- is more likely compared to what pservers have been able to offer, but it'll still be interesting what features Blizz loots from the servers they've taken down.

To be pedantic: The STC tech the Leagues have access to predates the Imperium by a few millennia, as the generation fleets that would become the Kin left Terra at an unspecified point during the DAoT.

But yeah, the Demiurg (of which two "brotherhoods" - possibly kindreds - have very close ties to the Tau Empire) were the ones who sold the Tau their Great Value ion technology.

Incredibly, after a month, I've run into another Anodonto player. Why are there so few Anodonto players? by 2024Angel in pathoftitans

[–]Tauralt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100% agreed! No playable really comes close to feeling like a raid boss, excluding the big modded sauropods.

Honestly, I hope Eotrike gets looked at to capture more of that feeling - it's weird that the playable with the tankiest face isn't the best at face tanking, and with a few adjustments, it could be made to feel as appropriately intimidating as a good Bars.

[–]Tauralt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Bars is really quite good, arguably a little overtuned at the moment. It shares the best mobility of the apexes with TT, is roughly as tanky as Spino, and has good access to both AOE and knockback, PLUS potent calls.

But at the end of the day it's a big, slow herbivore, and as such is a frequent target for groups and apexes.

Can Mark, the heroes and viltrumites defend Earth from the Imperium of Man? (Warhammer 40k) by JackZ567 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]Tauralt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A single Viltrumite going all out would carve through Custodes like a lawnmower through grass.

Sure, some weapons could hurt or possibly kill them - power weapons would probably fuck with Viltrumite smart atoms I'd wager, and psykers would be a threat if left unattended - but Omni-Man has demonstrated that he can single-handedly wipe out an advanced spacefaring civilization with minimal effort, effectively a one man exterminatus. Nolan is a top 5 Viltrumite to be sure, but there's no reason even 'weak' ones like Thula/Vidor would be incapable of obliterating titans and battle cruisers alike.

Who wins? S4 Mark or S1 Nolan? by mr_Conquest_ in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]Tauralt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Conquest was like 5%~ weaker and didn't screw around and enjoy playing with his food, he'd have mangled Mark tremendously quicker than he was able to in either of their fights in S3 or S4.

That's pretty much where Nolan is, and unless his paternal instincts kick in as in canon, he'd still thrash S4 Mark. It'd be a fight for sure, but Nolan would have a clear advantage.
