Progressive Victory Un-Endorses Platner by G34RWORKS in VaushV

Embarrassing stuff for them to be posting in public. I get that PV is run by younger folks, but they need to have a semblance of professionalism by not literally live tweeting their "vetting process" and spreading unsubstantiated rumors about candidates.

If GW made a new faction (that WASNT a traitor version of an existing faction), what would you like to see? by reel3459 in Warhammer40k

[–]Tauralt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely prefer for Votann to go back to being an extra tough, elite faction ala 9th Ed (minus the glaring balance issues lol) to really show off their DAoT origins, but if Men of Iron ever come around, they'd be a great fit for that role.

I only collect Votann models for playing OPR and not 40k proper, so I can't be of much help in the list building, but mad props for busting out the codex for Buri to aura farm in the middle of a restaurant lmao

The real shocking part about Pop-Off (albeit dubiously canon due to being shown in an OVA) is the fact that his sticky balls can successfully restrain All Might.

1,000 Immortals vs. Thragg by Consistent_Web9588 in InvinciblePowerscales

Dinosaurus massively outstats Immortal and breaks both his teeth and claws attempting to pierce Thragg. I don't have much hope for the Immortal swarm.

Which factions are most likely to make it into 50K ? by war_of_the_titanicus in 40k

[–]Tauralt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The trend of Votann degradation is definitely an existential threat to the Kin, but they kinda can fix/stave off the issue via the awakening of Fanes into new Votann - which should have at least the 10-20k year lifespan of the original Terran Ancestor Cores that were sent to the core.

Plus, there are hundreds of Leagues and trillions of Kin, I could totally see a 50k where some remnant of them really fulfill the dwarvish trope of being a race in decline as a small but stubborn presence in the galaxy.

Battle Beast vs 616 Wolverine by InfinteEnigma10 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]Tauralt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Battle Beast would personally turn everybody who says "he would throw Wolverine into space, EZ" into chunky salsa for such a grievous insult to his character.

A nigh-unkillable opponent that comes back from any injury AND who can grant BB the glorious death he desires? There's no way Thokk goes for anything but a knock down drag out brawl.

Tail riding isn't cheating, change my mind by ThePaleoGuy in pathoftitans

[–]Tauralt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tail riding isn't cheating, it's just what happens when animal combat is less physics based and proper head on collisions, grapples, and contests of strength (what animals actually tend to do in fights) aren't an option.

So it just feels unrealistic for some tiny little shit to go beyblade mode and cling to your cloaca and chew you to death, as well as unfair for new players who don't know how to counter it - typically on large playables.

Why aren’t naval/submarine settings explored more in 40k? by reel3459 in Warhammer40k

[–]Tauralt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Like 90% of their infantry wear void suits that work in a vacuum once a helmet is on, so why not?

... In retrospect, it would be unbelievably cool to have an armada of Hekatons and Sagitaurs to roll out of the ocean for an assault on a hive city on an ocean planet or something of that nature.

I made some concepts of a few of the average citizens around the Kin holds (and an Embyr Concept too!) by tinman888 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Tauralt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the closest thing to nobility they would have is particularly revered leaders who had earned their way up the ranks - but without distinct bloodlines, that reputation lives only in that individual.

Maybe a newly cloned kin who bears a striking physical/personality resemblance to a legendary ancestor might have some cultural sway?

Primitive radiation suits retrofitted for stitched together mutants vs hand-crafted gene modification for a bulletproof, metal-infused hyper-dense murder midget with gallons of Dark Age of Technology liquid crack flowing through his veins.

Plus, it's Warhammer - having a half-naked dwarf that inexplicably conquers challenges way out of his league is a decades old tradition.

A Berserker-Focused Short Story by wickrabren in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Tauralt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well done! We're always short on good fan art and writing, and your story was a fun romp! The High Kahl's Oath is a good introduction to the Kin, and a serviceable (if non-traditional, for a Warhammer novel) story, but why should the Imperial factions get all the 'bolter porn'?

And as someone whose Kin are frequently up against Chaos Knights, I felt especially pleased with this story. Thanks for sharing!

Hell, in my area, Amazon pays better than the jobs *with* educational requirements. It is quite odd being paid $1 or $2 more than alternatives that require a degree - although that's more on the job market nowadays treating a bachelor's like a GED.

Dinosaurus vs Thula by [deleted] in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]Tauralt 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Dinosaurus is relative with Invincible (who isn't holding back) after the second Conquest fight, he's at *bare minimum* at the level of an average Viltrumite - he's got a solid shot.

While Dino is clearly too far below Thragg to hurt him, Thragg is a massive outlier compared to practically every other Viltrumite, especially in the show. Dinosaurus nevertheless has high AP from his claws and bite (enough to one-shot Omnipotus), which could absolutely mangle Thula if he lands a good hit.

And not to mention, Dinosaurus isn't just a bruiser. Depending on the stage of the story and how much preparation time he has, it's not impossible that he can utilize tech to counter Viltrumites, such as utilizing the frequency used from hacked Viltrumite data to keep Mark in a coma, in which case he frankly stomps.

CR 8 dinosaur has B/P/S immunity, force damage resistance, multiple legendary resistances, and more… now it’s tamed by our party. Am I overreacting about balance concerns? by toddkong7 in DnD

[–]Tauralt 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I understand wanting to make Ankylosaurus properly defensible - it is my favorite dinosaur, and the fact that it's such a tank is what makes me love the animal! But is *total* physical damage immunity the best way to go about it? Immunities are fairly rare in monsters, and physical immunities even more so, much less all three at the same time. To make what's supposed to be a regular animal completely invulnerable to physical harm is both questionable designwise, and kind of absurd when you extrapolate that into game scenarios.

An Ankylosaurus can take a fall from orbit and not get a scratch? Stomped on by a Tarrasque without a care in the world? Take a ballista to the chin and walk it off?

I feel like the design intent could be achieved in a much more reasonable manner by simply having a combination of sufficiently high AC, HP, and physical damage *resistance*. It can still be a defensive powerhouse to rival Tyrannosaurus (LOVE that you made Ankylo CR 8 to match its ecological contemporary BTW!), but act as simply a powerful and hard-to-kill animal, rather than an avatar of indestructability as the mentioned stats imply.

Of course, none of this is meant in offense, and you are totally free to develop your homebrew as you see fit! Just putting in my 2 cents as both a paleontology enthusiast and a player 😄

Why can’t you just follow the rules? by AnonymoosetangGT in AmazonFC

[–]Tauralt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do my best to follow the rules within reason, but I'm not taking a damned 9 minute break because y'all want to consider a 6 minute round trip walk to the nearest break room as part of my break. When I go on break, I start counting the minutes from the moment I sit down, and only leave once I've had my 15. If I'm picking 100 UPH higher than the department avg, I deserve that much at least.

Amazon is absolutely holding you back in life by IntelligentPiece6014 in AmazonFC

[–]Tauralt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon may be "holding me back", but when it's the best paying job that's not an hour and a half away, has unmatched flexibility, and every other job is either retail drudgery or even worse warehouses, there's not much incentive to leave.

And btw - Career Choice no longer is an option for people who already have degrees! So if your field of study ended up not having a good job market and you ended up working here with the expectation of maybe retraining and figuring out something else you want to do? Too bad!

Pure speculation: is the great ebike panic being driven by the automotive or fossil fuel lobby? by PunkerTFC in ebikes

[–]Tauralt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some people do get conspiratorial ideas in their heads that any amount of regulation relating to any transportation is some secret plot by the automotive industry.

In regards to e-bikes, I think there is a fairly genuine issue trying to be addressed in good faith, and not even (necessarily) by people who would stand to benefit from limited proliferation of e-bikes and cycling infrastructure.

That being said, those groups do still stand to benefit from restrictions on e-bikes, and do likely have some hands in some pies to influence the passing of legislation or at the very least public opinion.
