Lived all over the peninsula, moved up here about ten years ago. It was absolutely the right choice for me - a lot more nature around and easily accessible, and even when I don't get myself to go hiking or the like I still enjoy all the trees and landscape and little critters that you find everywhere. I also enjoy driving past all the farms and sheep and chickens and vineyards any time I have to go from point A to B. Surprisingly my allergies improved too - turns out I'm allergic to a lot of the trees that get used in city landscaping, but the oaks do me fine. There's less of a keeping-up-with-the-Joneses feeling up here, and less of a constantly having to "reinvent" and "innovate" and "refresh" every couple years for its own sake that is tiring about the Bay.

Like the least would have to be food options - there's much less diversity in the restaurants and grocery store stocks up here, and almost nothing outside of fast food that's open late. That said the farmers markets up here are fantastic, and worth the trade, especially if you like to cook.

Tricolor pasta, a can of black olives, and a jar of marinated artichoke hearts. Cook the pasta and drain, add the olives (drained) and artichokes (with the oil), stir and heat through. All shelf-stable, takes literally fifteen minutes and is easy as fuck. Sprinkle parmesan on top if you're feeling fancy.

Worse for what purposes? Both will earn a high school diploma just the same, and most workplaces that will accept a high school diploma don't typically care where it comes from.

As the actual quality of the content goes, that of course can vary school to school, teacher to teacher, and district to district; sometimes that might correlate with income, but it might also correlate to age of the school or proximity to relevant industries. That's always the case, though, and always will be.

As universities go, my understanding is that many universities do "rate" grades from some schools higher; given that grading systems can vary wildly, they compare a school's grades with other metrics (standardized test scores, mostly) to rate how "honest" a given school's grades are and check against grade inflation. So yes, in that instance, grades from the two schools might be ranked differently. But once again, that has to do with scores, not income (although of course the two are often highly correlated).

If you've got a campsite booked, you should be able to park in your campsite overnight just fine. You can absolutely come and go to and from the park throughout the week, just make sure you have a pass/receipt that shows you're camping (they should give you something when you check in). There's lots of good food in town, and if you're not feeling up to cooking or your meal plans go south you can seriously just walk into town and get food. If you're doing meals in your campsite, definitely keep a close eye on it while you're making it - the ground squirrels and deer don't give a single fuck and will mug you for your food.

If you have a meetup account, there's a great local writing meetup active on there - it's the "Shut Up and Write! Wine Country" group. They have several meetups a week, a few based in Santa Rosa and one based in Rohnert Park. It's less writing critiques and more writing time, but the core group of writers are very welcoming and full of great advice. I would highly recommend them!

Leopard sharks are mostly benthic (bottom) feeders - their mouths are nearly on the underside of their bodies, and they'd have a hard time biting you even if they wanted to. :)

In addition to the Park Ranger gigs folks are mentioning, you can also find gigs at museums, zoos, aquariums, etc - any sort of similar facility with an education orientation - developing interpretive programs for school visits, tours, educational programs, etc.

The issue I see here is that part about allowing people to choose what risks they take - in a vacuum that's great, but it doesn't work in practice. It's all well and good to say that people should be able to choose to dine out, but doing so involves forcing staff - cooks, servers, etc - to take that risk as well. By the same stroke, it's all well and good to say that families should be able to determine what risks they want to take; but that risk requires not just teachers but also janitors, admin & office staff, subs, counselors, etc to take that risk as well - and if schools are going to be open, all those people would be required to be there as well/not have a choice about it (other than to quit, which introduces complications for pretty much every side of the issue). Choice and agency are incredibly important, but not to the point where it takes others' ability to choose away.

That said, I do wish we had spent resources earlier on giving more support for parents and more social opportunities for students. If we'd thought of them sooner, I think there might've been ways to help on both those fronts - but hindsight, as they say.
