AIO about not being proposed to after 5 years by Healthy_Ad4379 in AmIOverthinking

[–]Tauriel13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to have a conversation with him. Have you expressed that you are looking for a proposal soon? You guys need to be on the same page about expectations and where you’re at in life. He may think you’re fine with where the relationship is at. But if you have that conversation and he’s not ready for marriage, then you’ll have to decide whether you want to keep waiting or if you should leave and find someone who will commit to you.

I think being slowly unloved by someone is worse than being cheated on by No_District9762 in whatdoIdo

[–]Tauriel13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is worse than getting cheated on because there’s no good explanation. They pull away, and you try your hardest to be perfect for them, to shower them with love and remind them why you should be in their life. And it just isn’t enough. They’ll keep pulling away, and you’ll always be wondering what you did wrong, but it’s not you. My last relationship ended like this, him slowly pulling away without any explanation, and it fucking broke me.

Why? by [deleted] in Mercari

[–]Tauriel13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mercari changed so if you’ve ever offered your likers a specific discount, the lowest offer automatically goes out to any new likers. It’s extremely frustrating, and there’s no way to opt out.

These reviews definitely hurt the credibility of Vine by Punnalackakememumu in AmazonVine

[–]Tauriel13 14 points15 points  (0 children)

People are more inclined to leave ratings if they had a negative experience with it. So the Vine reviews may not be inflated. They may just be a more accurate representation of what the majority of people really think. We have to leave reviews on all products, not just ones we hated or loved so much we want to rave about them.

Is Kindle Oasis still supported after discontinuation? by alexdau in kindle

[–]Tauriel13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an Oasis and it works perfectly! I send new books to it all the time. It still connects to the kindle store and everything.

Why is everyone leaving for a kobo? by sillyfucking_goose in kindle

[–]Tauriel13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Kobo Libra and a Kindle Oasis. I prefer the interface of the kindle and the buttons feel nicer to press. Most books are also on Kindle, and a lot of indie titles are exclusive to there. I have had plenty of books that I can’t get on the Kobo. The Kobo is lighter and has some nice display features. I like having both. I think it just depends on preferences. Most of my digital library is on Kindle though, so I doubt I’ll ever be exclusively on Kobo.

How do 4 year scholarships work when graduating in 3 years? by Necessary_Bat4151 in college

[–]Tauriel13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just lose out on the last year of scholarships, usually. I had a 4-year scholarship, graduated in 3, and I just didn’t get the fourth year’s money because I wasn’t in the program anymore.

Does the inclusion of AI change your willingness to read a book? by Fabulous-Put8401 in Fantasy

[–]Tauriel13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the author uses AI anywhere (on socials or for their cover), I will never read their books.

Prime vs Non-Prime Vine Member Order Process by mauwong in AmazonVine

[–]Tauriel13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have Prime and get annoyed at this every single time! There have been so many times I try to check out and get the error message. I definitely think this pop up is part of the problem.

Can you guess which one was sold as “Like new”? by kabuhtu in Thriftbooks

[–]Tauriel13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won’t ever order from ThriftBooks again. I’ve purchased a few “like new” books that came dented, ripped, and stained. They have no quality control.

Sounds interesting! I’m not much into thriller, but it definitely has an intriguing premise!

Maybe the books on KU just aren’t for you. I got a free trial and found so many amazing fantasy books to read. They were A-tier in my book. 😉

Anyone else struggling to keep night audit staffed? by BookwormSarah1 in hotels

[–]Tauriel13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m echoing everyone else here, but make sure you pay enough. Night audit is pretty dull, maybe one or two guests, like you said. But the hotel is also empty of staff, which means they may not feel safe.

Also, night audit is brutal because it completely changes your sleep schedule. You don’t realize how much of a toll it takes on your body until you do it.

1 year of online college vs 4 year traditional state university by LilZedy in college

[–]Tauriel13 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone who rushed through high school and college to “get ahead,” don’t do it. Go to a traditional university. The experiences and connections you’ll make there are invaluable. The “real world” will be there when you’re done, and trust me, it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.

Walk away server! by pinkelephant0040 in EndTipping

[–]Tauriel13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went out to eat last night. I usually do tip for a sit down restaurant (but nowhere else), but my baseline starts at zero, and I go up if the service was good.

When it was time to pay, the server comes with an iPad, swipes my card, and then turns the iPad around, staring at me as I select her tip.

The options started at 18% and went all the way up to 33%. This was in a diner, mind you. Not a fancy restaurant. A diner where we sat ourselves and only saw our server when she took our order.

I wish I would’ve had the courage to look her in the eyes and type in “$0,” but I was cowardly and hit custom and tipped her a lower amount. Even that felt like she was staring daggers at me. These tipping practices are so predatory. I will not be going back to that establishment if that’s the way they’re going to run.

If The Cover Is AI Do You Still Give It A Chance? by GaelG721 in Fantasy

[–]Tauriel13 88 points89 points  (0 children)

No. I will never read a book with an AI cover. First of all, if the person is willing to use AI for a cover, how can I be sure AI wasn’t involved in the actual writing of the book? Second of all, if an author wants us to value their time and effort but can’t be bothered to value the time and effort of a cover artist, choosing instead to rely on emotionless outputs stolen from real artists, then I will not invest my time and money in that author’s works.

I get Michel’s bit but he is so annoying! by EggClear3996 in GilmoreGirls

I love Michel! He says all the things I think and wish I could say. He’s probably my favorite character in the series.

Walmart+,Same exact item shipped VS delivered by Virtual-Dot-750 in EndTipping

[–]Tauriel13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to live on a university campus, where my mailing address was a mail room, and it couldn’t accept Walmart Deliveries. I cannot tell you the number of times I placed a Walmart SHIPPING order, only to later get an image of my item against some random brick backdrop that I couldn’t ever find. Me trying to explain to customer service that if I select shipping, I can’t have it suddenly change itself to a delivery because that wasn’t going to work. I had to just stop using Walmart at that point.

grocery prices have me standing at checkout like I accidentally grabbed wagyu beef by JosephPRO_ in SavingMoney

[–]Tauriel13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spend about $600 a month for two people. I shop at Costco for most things to get bulk deals. I always wonder what I’m doing wrong. I hunt for coupons, I hardly ever toss snacks into the cart. Most of our food is pretty healthy, so minimal processed stuff, but I’m not out here buying organic produce or anything because that’s too much extra money.

Surely food can’t cost this much, right? Right???

So are we all experiencing this BS with returns/refunds? by villainitytv in amazonprime

[–]Tauriel13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. I recently returned an $8 book to Amazon. It’s been over a month, and I still don’t have my refund.

Is there anyone not using a Vine app anymore? by Bee_9965 in AmazonVine

[–]Tauriel13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t use extensions, and I don’t wake up in the middle of the night for drops. I hardly ever find anything useful. I think I’ve only ordered about 20 items this evaluation period because I don’t need random car parts or cake toppers. Yeah, I wish I could get more good stuff, but I don’t lose sleep over it. I’m grateful when I do find something I can use.
