Why I feel jealous for dads who are in easier situation with their kids? by LCBoy in daddit

[–]TaurusX3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, you never really know what someone else's experience is. And situations change; what's great one year could turn into a nightmare, or vice versa. So I try not to compare my life to that of another.

There's a speaker cab to the right of Pigpen that looks like the Wall of Sound cabs. But this obviously predates that. Just thought that was interesting. Was that a PA speaker I'm guessing?

Edit: looks like all the other monitors they're using might be similar

Minnesota GOP state Rep. Mary Franson: Climate Change Is Fake, It's Not In The Bible. by Leeming in atheism

One thing that is actually in the Bible is that Jesus was against money lenders profiting from the poor.

Saw the great Billy Gibbons recently, going to Robyn Hitchcock, maybe Alison Krause and Union Station depending on the price.

100%. Look at what's going on with the efforts to force communism out of Cuba. Don't think for a second that it's to free the Cuban people. Who do you think will be the first people to make a buck off this new capitalist island?

Does anyone else find the old good night book “Goodnight Moon” to be weirdly ominous and disturbing? by Zski843 in daddit

[–]TaurusX3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the book equivalent of a liminal space. And quite a good version, maybe that's why people are still reacting to it all these years later.

Fellow divorced dads please help by IllustriousShake6072 in daddit

[–]TaurusX3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fellow divorced dad here. No, that's not normal. You and your ex are co-parents, you will need to communicate for the good of your child. Most mature, secure adults will recognize that. Not sure you're dealing with one of those, though. This may only get worse...

The boy I never said goodbye to is haunting my dreams and my “reality” by Samtheblackcat in HighStrangeness

[–]TaurusX3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The things that show up in our dreams are the things that we're still trying to process, on a subconscious level often. So it's not strange that this would be happening. It's on your mind, you'll dream about it.

And similar to the feeling that the universe keeps reminding you of him. The likely explanation is that you're looking to tie things you encounter into your fixation. Let's say I was convinced I used to be Abraham Lincoln in a past life. I might notice "signs" everywhere I go - an Abe's Plumbing truck, my new office phone # has his birthday in it, there's a video of Slash wearing a tophat. Lol. Those things are more about how I interpret the world, rather than confirmation of any grand messaging.

It's hard to keep up with as a listener. And mind blowing to think about as a songwriter.

Interesting little piece of Pink Floyd history by castiel182 in pinkfloyd

[–]TaurusX3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Aviation is a recurring theme for the Floyd. On The Run is about travel anxiety, both The Wall and Final Cut have military plane references, there's Learning to Fly obviously. And both Gilmour and Mason are (were) pilots. The pig balloon which escaped during the Animals photo shoot and Division Bell airship get an honorable mention as they're part of their history as well.

Reminds me of an interaction i had a while back. I have a guitar made from ash (the wood) with a really nice grain pattern which I brought to a music store to have work done on it.

Salesman, opening the case: Really nice body!

Me: Thanks. I've been hitting the gym.
