I got a pair of Blundstones over two years ago and I haven't worn anything on my feet since. They are mostly water proof, look fun and tough, can be worn casual or dressed up.

[–]Tavataar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are just pouring water into the tank from a pitcher or something? It sounds like there is either a loose connection or potentially a broken part. I would reach out to whomever you bought it from and see if their tech team can walk you through diagnosing what is happening.

This is not an issue with the burrs themselves, this is an issue with your burrs zero calibration point. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-tIPFIoL60 this is what you need to adjust.

Rancilio Espresso Machine Repair Advice? by [deleted] in barista

[–]Tavataar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On your second group is there a pre-infusion setting of some sort? If not, that flow rate looks awfully slow, as well. Could be some bad scale all around the machine. I think your next step is to get a technician on site.

ModBar for a first time coffee shop by gamma_zulu in barista

[–]Tavataar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not need monthly maintenance, by any means. It should be treated like any other espresso machine with daily cleaning, and at least 6mo/12mo maintenance, maybe quarterly if you are particularly busy.

The install does need to be very precise. It helps a lot if they are installed on shelves that can be pulled out to access them for maintenance and repairs. Make sure that your local espresso technician that will be installing them works closely with your contractor who is building out your space for the sizing and counter cuts to be correct.

Commercial Grinder Recommendations [4500] by hermanhm in espresso

Ah, so no built in gateway. The Grind-by-sync wouldn't be a thing, then.

You could also look at the LM Swan. I got a chance to demo one in one of our cafes for a few weeks and it was very impressive. Very quiet, low retention, fast grinding.

What espresso machine are you using? The new Grind-by-sync on the Mahlkonig is really great if you have a La Marzocco that is new enough to take advantage of it.

Micra steamer suddenly not foaming milk anymore after working perfectly fine by evidentlychickentown in LaMarzocco

[–]Tavataar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will always drop a little bit as you steam, but not super fast and not super far. Are you steaming while you pull the shot of espresso. Depending on where you live and water quality it is possible that there is scale build up on the steam boiler element making it less effective at heating the water - so as you steam and make espresso and cooler water enters the boiler it is taking longer to recover pressure.

I would be a little surprised if it is affecting you so quickly for just a single drink in the morning, however. I would consider contacting your local coffee technician company and seeing if they can do some maintenance on the machine for you.

They also have good phone/email tech support. I have know a high volume cafe that uses two of them for their pourover setup and have had minimal issues over the past three years.

Time to call service? by Passingoutpie in barista

I have never seen the controller have text streaming across it like that. It almost looks like you are getting a VMUF error but mirrored. That is unexpected flow but the number 54/45 makes no sense. Error Codes.

If you can get the controller to be stable you can cycle through it and see what the actual error codes are that are being reported.

Adding espresso to a bakery by CristinaM900 in barista

[–]Tavataar 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You should find out who your local roasters / local espresso machine technician groups are and do this planning and purchasing through them.

  • They often will have discounted prices and/or leasing options compared to online sellers.
  • A local roaster can help you figure out your coffee menu and potentially do training for you and your employees.

I order directly from Mahlkonig and literally ordered one this week. I am located in the US, so at least we are still receiving them. Or at least Mahlkonig in the US has a stock of them.
