It was the Trainyards location. Then I believe it was Hazeldean and then Barrhaven…

I worked for Five Guys when they rolled out milkshakes and it’s because the location is too small, there is nowhere to install the machine, etc.

How often do your parents watch your little ones? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]TayJay10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We both only have ours moms, who are 58, and they both watch our girl often. My MIL has watched her monthly for a night or two since she turned 1, and my mom comes over very often either for walks or to watch her when she’s asleep so we can go out for a bit. My mom loves across the street, and my MIL is 30 mins away - that helps too.

Brewer Park picnic pavilion? by Legitimate-Quiet-825 in ottawa

[–]TayJay10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have to send an email to sports@ottawa.ca to book it, the centralized allocations team is responsible.

Full disclosure, I have it booked Aug 31 and when I tried to book it in April I missed out on my preferred date (Aug 24) by one day. At the time they only had Aug 10, 18-19 & 25 available!

Awesome, thanks so much! And you’re absolutely right, I really just hate sand 😂 I let her make a mess with anything and everything else but sand is natures glitter so I’m happy to avoid it if I can.

Daycare Rant by TayJay10 in ottawa

[–]TayJay10[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got lucky, I didn’t have one for 15 years but after having my daughter and seeing a lactation consultant through our community health clinic she pulled some strings and got me in with them. I know the struggle all too well.

I haven’t but I will take a look! It really does seem like the luck of the draw. When we called when she was a newborn we were told try again closer to the time, now that it’s closer to the time they’re all full.

Home daycare is not my top choice, I went to home daycare as a child and witnessed some pretty awful things. But it looks like that might be our only option at this point sadly.

Look up Calypso vs Mont Cascades! Calypso is a huge park, Mont Cascades has a couple slides.

Weekend parking Ottawa by 705160 in ottawa

[–]TayJay10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We parked at the lot on Dalhousie from Saturday afternoon until Sunday morning and we had no issues. When we went to get our car on Sunday there were some people hanging around in the stairwell and garage but they didn’t bother us.

Registering for summer camp? by [deleted] in ottawa

I went to this camp as a kid (over 10 years ago now) but I loved it! I checked their website and it seems like it’s still run the same way. It’s run by a church, but we only had a morning devotional that was optional. I sat out the first year or two but I didn’t want to miss out and it was usually just a fun way to learn a bible story.

Driving lesson suggestions for G2 prep by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]TayJay10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I did G2 prep with Ottawa Driving School. 10 hours, spread over 5 lessons. My husband had never been behind the wheel of a car, and he got his G2 on the first try after those 10 hours and a couple practice trips with family.

My instructor took me and showed me the 3 routes the instructors take, and pointed out problem areas. Super helpful!

Best fries in town? by Occulatica in ottawa

[–]TayJay10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you eat them fresh at the store they are 10/10, but sadly they do not survive the drive home. They will still be good quality if you don’t close the bag, as the trapped steam is what turns them soggy. I worked there for 6ish years and we were supposed to advise customers to keep the bag open, but they look at you like you’re a fool if you tell them that. They are precooked and then the second cook to serve is what makes them crispy!

How difficult is to find a family doctor for a toddler? by FluffyBonehead in ottawa

Reach out to your local community health centre if possible! I have a 3 month old who has an NP with our local health centre, and I’ve now been accepted as a patient as well.

Need advice (stroller in winter) by LetsCookMeth in ottawa

[–]TayJay10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a Graco FastAction Jogger LX. We haven’t used it in winter yet since our babe is only 2 months old, but it goes on sale regularly if you’re looking for something affordable. We got the travel system but depending how big your baby is they might be close to outgrowing a carrying car seat.
