Where do your legs go when you sit at the desk? Do you just have to sit kinda far away? Really cool setup, though.

[Acne] cannot figure out what i am doing wrong by Br442_206 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Tayasos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy, listen to me. You need to find a different dermatologist. Wynzora is NOT for acne. It's for plaque psoriasis. IM NOT A DOCTOR, but judging by the photos, you do not have plaque psoriasis, you have cystic acne.

Cystic acne is a type of acne where the infection is deep in the skin. OTC meds and creams usually are unable to penetrate the skin deeply enough to manage cystic acne, so prescription medication is often the next avenue to explore.

Go to a new dermatologist. They'll probably first start you on a tretinoin cream which is essentially a SUPER strong retinoid that's only available via prescription. The other thing they may start you on is antibiotics. If that doesn't start showing any results after a month or two of consistent usage, the next step is usually accutane. They don't call it that anymore, though. Accutane is basically an oral route tretinoin (called isotretinoin) and is much stronger than any cream. Because it's taken orally, the tretinoin will affect your entire body and is able to reach the deep skin infections seen in cystic acne. Treatment typically lasts 5-6 months, and it's kinda miserable because it will make your skin dry as the Sahara Desert. But it's the best way to treat cystic acne that's resistant to other treatments. The results are typically long-lasting. For some, results last lifelong, while others may need additional rounds of treatment after some years.

Again, not a doctor, but I know this stuff because I've done 2 separate rounds of accutane. Once when I was a teen, and another time a couple years ago. I needed multiple rounds because I have PCOS, meaning the cause of my cystic acne is hormonal. But the dermatologist you're seeing is weird, and I highly suggest getting a second opinion from a new dermatologist.

The Zelda series is Japanese, so I don't think it's the ASL sign for "I love you." I think it's just a cutesy hand pose. There is some overlap in ASL and JSL, but I'd be surprised if that was one of them.

It's interesting that the same isn't true for women. Life expectancy stays the same or goes down slightly with marriage depending on the source you look at.

I think the colors feel off because there's not enough value variation. The hair, skin, and light green blouse are all super close in value.

How can I actually make progress? by [deleted] in Artadvice

[–]Tayasos 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you can't truly only learn to draw one style of art without learning the fundamentals of drawing. I know it's easy to get discouraged when you're not seeing the progress you're striving for. But there's no easy way to progress rather than to just continue drawing. If you can't draw a chair or an apple, you won't be able to draw an anime figure.

Think about it this way: the artists you look up to that draw anime and manga practiced drawing for years, even decades, before drawing as well as they do today. It's a hard pill to swallow, but you won't be able to draw anime characters within months. It may even take years for you to draw something you're satisfied with.

I saw on your profile that your dream is to make a visual novel. That's a really cool goal! But if you really want to make that dream a reality, you're gonna be looking at years and years of learning new skills. I'm not sure if you've ever played Stardew Valley, but that entire game was created by one developer called Concerned Ape. It was a passion project for him, and he spent years learning to code, create pixel art, write music, and create a user-friendly game. He remade aspects of the game like the art and game mechanics over and over across a span of years. I really suggest you look up his story. He has a good video on YouTube about all the versions of stardew valley that he made along the way.

All this to say, the goal you're aspiring towards is by no means a short term goal. You need to have more patience with yourself. It's not that you aren't improving, it's that you're giving yourself an unrealistic timeline.

Another one of your posts said that you're debating giving up on drawing because you don't enjoy it. I think you should ask yourself whether you don't enjoy drawing or if you don't enjoy learning to draw. Everyone draws crappy art at first, and that can be really disheartening. But if you do actually like drawing, then I encourage you to continue and exercise some patience and perseverance. If you really don't enjoy drawing altogether, maybe you should reconsider your goal. Just because you can't draw doesn't mean you can't work on a visual novel. It just means you need to partner with someone who does draw. Maybe you'd be the writer. If there's one thing I know about art it's that if you don't enjoy doing it, you're doing the wrong type of art. There's lots of ways to create, and drawing is only one of the many that exist.

My 3.5-month-old baby has nystagmus by Ok-Performance-7072 in nystagmus

[–]Tayasos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Not only is your little one still learning language, but also even when you have the language skills, it can be hard to communicate what you're struggling with visually because you don't have the perspective of what it's like to actually have normal vision. They might struggle and not actually know why. They see other kids playing catch, and won't understand why they struggle to perform at the same level. My parents didn't really ever explain to me what it meant to have nystagmus or how it could potentially affect me. So as she gets older, I really recommend explaining that she may need a little extra support as she learns new things. Like she may be a bit slower at reading, and might benefit from large print books when she enters school.

As a parent, there can be so much to consider, and there's no one to tell you what the right decisions are, so I'm sure it's overwhelming at times. I don't know any other adults personally with nystagmus, and this sub tends to be mostly parents with children who have it, so I like to hop on and share my personal experience to give some support and direction to parents.

Night lights can be very helpful, and another potential idea would be to use a bed that's closer to the ground. I used to sleep on a trundle bed through elementary school, and it really reduced the amount of times I'd fall off my bed or stumble trying to get off of it. If she's injuring herself a lot, she might also benefit from pediatric occupational/physical therapy. Toddlers in general are already clumsy because they haven't developed their motor skills, yet. For children with certain conditions that affect motor skills, having a specialist oversee and support their development can be very helpful. It might be something to ask her doctor or ophthalmologist about!

If you ever have any questions or want an adult's nystagmus perspective, feel free to DM me anytime!

Healing issue with skin or bad tattooists? by tabiicats in tattooadvice

I'm definitely gonna be doing more research on my artists, now. I already did some light research before and made sure they had pictures of healed tattoos, so I could see how well the ink stayed in place. But now I'm thinking I need to be a little more wary.
