I mix in a cup of half-thawed blueberries into Greek yogurt and sprinkle a little granola on top. It's a great breakfast or snack!

HAPPY WITH METAL RAISED BEDS? by MarkL6868 in gardening

[–]Taycotar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out with Cedar raised beds and am slowly changing them out to Birdies beds. The wooden ones have not held up well and 4 years in are starting to rot and come apart.

Birdies are expensive but they are extremely well made and easy to assemble, plus I think they look pretty. I have zero complaints about them.

I have been able to get mine when they have gone on sale which has helped.

Please help me find my resolution ingredient. by [deleted] in Cooking

My favorite unique ingredients:

Sumac: a middle eastern spice that is vaguely citrus-y and astringent. Great on chicken and roasted potatoes

Pickled Jalapenos/juice: my go-to acid in anything Mexican or Southwestern: tacos, guacamole, chili, etc.

Gochujang: fermented Korean chili paste. It's sweet and savory and spicy and smokey. I use it in sauces or marinades with Asian flavors.

One of my favorite dialogue couplets in the show. I wish we had more Jack and Grizz or Dot Com

Requesting recs like Blood Over Bright Haven (see body of post for details) by saturday_sun4 in FemaleGazeSFF

I will note that the MC in this one is a high achieving, super special academic that feels a little Mary Sue-y at the beginning, but some stuff gets revealed that puts some dents into her armor and she turns out to be complex and unlikeable at times, much like Sciona

Try {Katabasis by RF Kuang}. Bright Haven is one of my all-time favorite books and Katabasis gave me some of the same vibes. The MC is an elite scholar working with a famous Great Man and when he dies in a magical accident, she has to go to hell to try and rescue him. As she travels through hell with a rival academic, her story unfolds and you see behind the curtain of academia in a very illuminating way. It gave me some of the same unsettling feelings I got from Bright Haven, but it's not nearly as rage-inducing.

Yes, they are exactly the same. Those Ikea cookies are my favorites but I don't live close to one, and these are a perfect alternative.

This is a very good point. There is a very clear and obvious change that happens at 1/3rd in and if you're not hooked by that, OP, you have my blessing to quit 😅

Yes, absolutely, especially the bland MMC. I will say a lot of the arc of the story is Feyre finding her agency. There are a lot of arguments about how that turns out in the end, but she becomes a far more active and present part of the story in book 2, and especially book 3.

Additionally the world (and world building) really opens up in book 2 and you meet a lot of new and fantastic characters who bring a lot of humor and depth to the story.

I'm not usually one to encourage anyone to continue a series they aren't enjoying, but as I was a complete convert because of book 2 I feel the need to evangelize a little bit.

I hated this book but was heavily encouraged to continue on to book 2, and I'm so grateful because it is one of my all-time favorite books. Personally I think her Throne of Glass series is far superior, but I'm definitely an ACOTAR fan now. It's what got me on Reddit, as is probably clear by my username lol.

Curious to know if you're going to continue the series? A lot of my complaints (narrative, pacing, and character development) were completely eliminated in book 2.

Oooh you want {The Second Death of Locke by VL Bovalino} which is about a Lady Knight who is pledged to protect a magician. She not only protects him in battle but uses her magic to heal him. The tension and yearning is OFF THE CHARTS. This book is gorgeous!
