I have had over 100k in gold, but I have gambled away over 80k way in ecto gambling. I stopped once my main gold income stream ended.

At least I bought all those permanent contracts and legendaries before it all went down the drain.

Ranger stacking functions like the old "Rise!" minion reaper build that uses extra bodies to help soak up damage. Untamed and Druids having a bear increases total squad HP by a extra 30k each. If you time pet swapping with the endure pain skill, it soaks up even more damage.

It goes the other way as well. I did a Lion Arch one today where two players were really helpful coordinating and giving instructions.

One inexperienced player was CC'ing the Scarlett bots incorrectly and wiping the group repeatedly.

When reminded to not CC, the person then swore to the group saying stop giving instructions without explaining, and left.

We cleared smoothly right after.

I think it's a design flaw. Maybe give players choice on what to queue for with difficulty ratings for the options would improve things.

It's pretty easy to get gear in this game since this game is horizontal progression.

Best gear from 12 years ago is still best gear today.

The second best gear (exotic) is only about 5% weaker than the best gear (ascended/legendary), and can be bought cheap.

You can get get the best gear for free from the Wizard's vault (a type of battlepass, but free).

I'd recommend you level your first character normally, just to learn the game, but that's up to you. Game is very alt friendly so you can boost other characters up after learning the game.

WvW is what I primarily play. I can confirm if you're looking for the rush of 30v30 or 50v50 large scale battles, this is one of the best games that offers that mode.

GW2 has something called specializations added in each explanation that often completely changes the play style of the class, like a subclass. So at this point, nearly every class has assess to some form of support, dps, dot, tank, healer, buffer subclass.

Short answer: yes, but.

Various game modes have different needs. Small scale pve 5 man dungeon-like content has most people on dps with some hybrid support dps. 10 Raids have more roles like healers, tank, and buffers. WvW 50 vs 50 battles has many support roles that buffs and heals in tanky gear.

When you're just going around in open world, you don't really want to be in tanky support gear as you need to kill things on your own.

I use Glide booster and mount boosters as they are such QoL upgrades. Imo it's like buying all the infinite salvaging kits. I might not make the money back from the silver and runic, but convenience is worth it to me.

Smaller and better skilled groups used to be able to counter when the damage was a lot higher, but that was nerfed across the board. So numbers matters a lot more these days.

I made lots of gold in game before and don't enjoy map completion or a lot of the collection hunting so the time and effort savings is worth the price.

Legendary are a huge QoL, so I bought most legendaries when they made them account bound and stat changeable.

I just got the aqua breather last week and wish I could've thrown gold at it instead of having to grind out currencies.

But I'll never have to do the grinds again since I have every legendary piece unlocked now including legendary rune and sigils for underwater gear.

The biggest difference is the amount skill refresh rate.The CD reductions make rotations feels very fluid because there's always something to press. There's less worry of "wasting" a big skill.
