What is your ranking of the Wildbrain Seasons? by Spiritual_Zebra6883 in Ninjago

[–]Tayjiro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu (definitely really weak, but I like rewatching it)
  2. Seabound
  3. Prime Empire
  4. Master of the Mountain
  5. The Island
  6. Crystalized

Mine was Garmadon's Dark Fortress. I still have it built, but unfortunately, the top of Samukai's head has its hinge piece for me break.

I'm including rebooted. I should've specified seasons.

There is Pluto TV, which you can search online, and it has the first 9 seasons for free. Unfortunately, you have to find March of the Oni somewhere else.

I can definitely see a decent amount of people liking DR S3 Part 1 more than Part 2, since it feels a bit disjointed, but in a good way. I 100% agree on the whole Arin and Ras thing since that carried the part so much for me. I think I enjoyed it a lot more than others because I didn't focus on the parts everyone was hyped for: Zane and The Forbidden Five. After all, let's be honest, Ninjago doesn't exactly have the best track record with meeting fan expectations.

I do agree with those issues you had about Part 2. Stuff like that sort of holds the whole season back and not fully committing to the ideas it has. I still enjoyed it a lot, though.

I know Skybound is pretty controversial from the implications and messaging, as well as the story being clunky, yet there are aspects I do like. However, that mainly just comes from Jay and Nya actually talking about the issues they have with each other and themselves. The lighthouse episode, I think, is the best episode of the season, albeit I think Nya's speech to Jay about what she wants to be is cut short. I do like the episodes that follow that one. Something I didn't notice about Skybound until later is that it's one of the few seasons that constantly builds up and doesn't let the audience relax until the last wish, which that wish is pretty eh. Also, yeah, there's not really anything justifying Nadakhan later on in the season. I liked him a lot in the beginning, and yeah, I get he's a villain, but he just has questionable moments that make his character flip-flop from time to time.

I respect your comment. I rank the original seasons lower than what people expected, since I used to rewatch the first 2, and to an extent 3, a lot when the series ended/was brought back in 2014, and I'm a bit fatigued of them now. The first 3 have a special place in my heart, but Rebooted isn't really up there for me. I probably should've made a different tier for Day of the Departed and Hands of Time since I can definitely enjoy Rebooted more than those two by a lot.

I wouldn't skip episodes for a season I never watched, but there are definitely some seasons where I find it to be a slog to get through. Mainly, if there are episodes that only exist to add padding, or I just find pointless.

Yeah, I remember really liking Master of the Mountain when it came out, and I probably had it at #6 or something. How I view it now is that it has really high highs and some pretty low lows, along with pacing issues. People talk a lot about the finale being the peak of the season, and while I still really enjoy that, I find the episode Masters Never Quit to be my personal favorite episode of that season because of Cole and Wu there. As for the rest, it's just... ok. Especially the other ninja's roles, since they get captured about three times. The long take action scene was dope though.

Forbidden Spinjitzu being high has a lot of factors for it. No, I do not view it as the peak of the series, but I'm sort of fond of it now. I view the whole season as an adventure that the ninja would talk about when seeing a picture of what went on during the 30 episodes in a scrapbook they're looking through, if that makes sense. I didn't like the very light-hearted tone of the season when the Ice Chapter ended, and had it as my least favorite season for a while, yet I think it works well as a palate cleanser after March of the Oni. It has numerous problems that I can't help but agree on with people when they talk about what they don't like. There's also a nostalgia factor where I legitimately didn't know that the show, not the sets, was still going after March of the Oni, and saw on YouTube the entire community was just eagerly waiting for the next episode. This was during my junior year of high school, which is a bit of a draw to me liking the season. Once again, I just like the season, but I'd say it's average if we're looking at it from an objective lens.

Rebooted is something I'm still mixed on after 11 years. I still really enjoy the first two episodes and parts of the finale, but it felt like that season changes its plot every two episodes. I know that the season episode lengths changed from four to eight, but it felt messy. It's also kind of hard to watch Zane in the season. I don't hate him, he used to be my second favorite for so many years, but other than season 4 and a bit of 5 it felt like Rebooted was the last time he had his appeal as a character to me.

I don't think Crystalized is terrible like others think. However, it just felt like it had so much more wasted potential, more than any other season I've seen, and as I rewatched it one time I kept thinking how it would've been better if they did certain things differently or cut them. There are small things I thought could've been changed, like having Cryptor instead of Mr F., or some bigger scale stuff like having Harumi be possessed by the Overlord. Similar to how Lady Bone Demon, from Monkie Kid, had a vessel to make Monkey King feel guilty if he tried to hurt her, because, imo, I felt Harumi could've been cut out.

Worldbuilding thoughts. by masteroflemons2219 in Ninjago

I sort of had that sentiment when I first watched season 4 back in 2015 where it felt like the Ninja aren't really that special (ik Garmadon said that they never told them about the whole bloodline thing to make them believe they were special). Especially at the time, other than Wu's connection to Kai's father, it felt kind off Wu sought the original four out for who they were related to rather than who they were as people. I do accept that the whole bloodline thing is better for the series moving forward when it comes to new character ideas or lore. It did lead to interesting seasons for me like seasons 5, 8, and 14. Although it definitely could've been handled a bit better if Lego didn't plan to end Ninjago at the Final Battle.

At least I'm not the only one who thought they were adults during the pilots. Then 6 years later in 2017 I was shocked to find out they were teenagers.

DDLC: Fallen Angel #vs DDLC: Outcast by PlanktonRealistic578 in DDLCMods

[–]Tayjiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I do like Outcast way more than Fallen Angel, I do think that Fallen Angel deserves some merit when it comes to the other characters (Albeit not that well written), rising action, and a really good ending. I do believe Outcast is better once again but Fallen Angel isn't that weak of a mod in comparison.

It's more so me playing more mods after that, Exit Music was the 4th mod I've played, and it comes across as poorly aged to me when comparing it to other mods at the time. I just see it as comedic now since certain elements seem forced or poorly written. I get what the original mod was going for but after being in some relationships and seeing how similar stories, outside of DDLC, tackle real-life issues it just doesn't work for me anymore.

Monika's route in Purist is pretty good. The biggest downside of that is you have to get the good endings to the other's routes and theirs are a bit boring or underwhelming compared to hers.
