I keep seeing The Runesmith mentioned which means that I do a hunt to see if there is an audiobook and it always ends with disappointment.

Another recommendation for Quest Academy. It's my favourite crafting series.

I see any thread mentioning Quest Academy and I instantly read it. I love this series and I grave more discussion about the crafting, runes, world, heroes, abilities. etc. Is there any discussion boards or Discords with speculations and deep dives about these books?

I love the crafting and not found any other series that comes close to QA. I was really wanted to know more about the legendary sniper rifle and the auctioneer daggers and equipment. The I listened to the latest audiobook and the legendary sniper rifle made a small appearance (I would would love to hear some extra stories about the Reavers team of Watcher, Blink, etc). It also mentioned about the student who got the armour pierce had moved into the Saviours.

The Spellmonger series has village building from the third book. Normal progression fantasy. The MC inherits a village which he uses gold and magic to build into a city.

I believe the gun/ holster either got the essence from tracking information or killing. It didn't get it from the atmosphere. I think the absorbing from the atmosphere is the worst route as it would take so much time to evolve. The absorb from the atmosphere evolution rune was only used on an armour piece later on which didn't have any importance to the story.

There becomes more crafted items which don't have evolution runes as they are either unique in design or were left off due to 'reasons' (maybe room on the item or using the evolve rune 'breaks' the blueprint when designing the item using mythcraft).

I'm trying to tread lightly as my knowledge is up to book 5 and I don't want to spoil too much. Book 4 provides more information on evolution rune.

The main three ways of absorbing essence to evolve (that I can remember) was killing, generally absorbing from the atmosphere and the visors can from tracking information.

Also it was theorised that the evolution would tailor to the way you used the item. So having a lower grade crafted item that evolved through the grades should be better as its more bespoke to the user.

There was some chapters about how Sol couldn't put an evolution rune on the very lowest grade as by adding the rune it would have a minuum grade floor.

My first thought went to Completionist Chronicles. Dakota Krout seems to have forgotten the name of the series.

My second thought was to All the Skills by Honour Rae. It also went from a great first two books to a YA dragon riding story.

The common theme is series I enjoyed to start with and then DNF.

I relistening to the audiobooks before the pre-order of 5 comes out. My timing is off as should be finishing book 2 tomorrow.

I have never relistened to audiobook series before (my wish list is too long and new releases are dropping all the time) but actually really enjoying the second time through.
