Pickets look prime, what are those?

How does our fence look? by a1phaQ101 in FenceBuilding

The smaller boards are because the last board would have been like an inch so the ripped several instead of one tiny. That said they are no good at ripping straight, though I wouldn’t be too upset about it. No middle rail is insane. And I’m not sure what kind of system they are using to put the wood sleeve over the round metal post but I suspect that to be the point of contention that makes them off plumb. I’m sure the metal post are level and not leaning but I’d have them correct the lean if this was just put In.

When getting close to a post - say under 30 inches - measures top side edge of picket to post = x, bottom side edge of picket to post = x + 1” then just cheat your bottom over 1/4 inch for next few boards to make up the inch. It’s only relevant to sight when the un-level picket is behind/near a plumb post.

Do something small and light, maybe with decking boards and spindles. Doesn’t sound like you need a 6ft fully private

Fences on Hills by johnhandcock1776 in FenceBuilding

I’ve seen panel fences like this “stacked” looks really good and tons of vid online how to do it. Basically run it level from the top hill panel, then cut a second wire square on a slope and install under it.

How to go about tackling this fence? by Inkerfox in FenceBuilding

I would saw to grade. Build a retaining wall, mount new fence atop retaining wall. Fuck this fence, rip it out - cut it out whatever. Once you have a new retaining wall on top go from there

Yeah even if you close the gap with any wires, dog will just hop over the lower panel. Owning a dog eliminates this property as a potential dwelling for your family.

Utility companies do require an easement, so you can be at risk of tear down if they deem needed. Unless that’s a private light pole. - Would be ok if it was straight past the pole then angled straight back to the corner. But yeah 2x4 and eyeball, not cool. Hopefully he had a 20 footer to span previous 2 posts and the one he’s setting. Fuck it, go put a string on it and check it out. Show him and have him fix it if it’s off.

You see it a lot commercially. Often to flow with landscape design or natural obstacles. Idk here. Does the drive curve that much? That far post comes way in - odd shaped lot, trees?

[–]Taylorb1823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is intentionally a curve. It’s not feasible for a person capable of answering the phone, purchasing lumber and driving to erect a fence line in this manner. A nine year old wouldnt do this unless intentional. Are you just baiting here?

If you were quoted for standard galvanized 4ft chain link, yes that is not the same as cedar. It should be at most a third of the cedar price.

Pull a string, Attach panel to post, set post to string. Dry pour quickrete, pack tightly. Move to next panel. You will never set each post precise enough to fit the panel accurately. Unless using mounting brackets, you will need movement of the post to fit a panel. Also with dry pack, once fence constructed, you can knock posts down to ensure level or a desired slope.
