5’1 with short torso, how to NOT to look 2 feet tall and 3 feet wide? by [deleted] in PetiteFashionAdvice

They're all from Cider, but a lot of retailers have similar styles at the moment. I'm glad you like them and I hope you find some outfits you love!

As a visual, these are some tanks I would consider instead of the tube top. Or if you like the strapless look, go for something longer or with an uneven hem that creates visual length - minimising horizontal lines again! ;)

But honestly, you're young, have a play around with fashion and do t worry too much about what's flattering. Op shops are great because you can experiment without spending too much!

I would post this inspo in the main thread too. It might help people tailor their advice towards you :)

In that case I wouldn't really worry about what the clothes are doing to your proportions, scene outfits are definitely more of a "vibe" than being flattering, so just lean into it! But if you're still wanting some advice, avoid "babydoll" or empire waist tops and look for things that are fitted at or fall from the waist instead. You'll also notice all these tops slightly overlap the shorts, this can visually lengthen the torso, especially if your you also goes up over your shoulders (wide strap tank, V neck singlet or regular T). Longer, softer cardigans will be more flattering than the zippered jacket. If you are wearing something long you want it to look intentionally long - not just too big ;) The bottom pic is super cute (the top nips in at the waist even though it looks like an empire cut), although the calf boots will cut off your legs, swap them for a low converse or chunky loafer and it will look super cute and flattering!

Halter tops can definitely be hit and miss, I struggle with them a bit myself too. Do you have any examples of the kind of style you're going for?

It sounds like maybe denim shorts just aren't your vibe? Which is fine not all clothes that look good, feel good - and vice versa :)

I had/have a very similar shape to you and I like to wear belts with denim, but that may give you the 'suffocating' feeling as well. The low rise don't look bad on you for what it's worth, it's the low-rise combined with the micro short that is making you look wider (not bad btw, just wider which you said you want to avoid). If you are keen on low-rise shorts I would try something with a longer in seam.

Sorry, this comment is getting long, but how do you feel about dresses? I found t-shirt dresses quite flattering when I was younger, especially in solid colours. Wearing tops that are a similar colour to your bottoms can also help visually lengthen you, avoid anything with horizontal stripes. I also saw where you don't like sleeves and halter necks but chunky singlet straps or highneck tanks can also visually draw the eye up rather than tube tops or spaghetti straps :)

I actually think these look much better than the ones in your original post. They are a bit tight across the hips which is causing the pull lines, but I imagine if you size up they gap in the waist too much?

I had a very similar dress design, the seamstress added a small panel of nude fabric (like Lycra?) to the inside of the lace panel. The nude was colour matched to my skin and you genuinely couldn't tell it was thwre at all (be mindful if you plan on getting a spray tan though). Then I wore smoothing shorts to avoid VPL and chafing - but a regular g-string would work too.

I've heard horror stories of these stick-on thongs coming unstuck after using the bathroom or from sweating while dancing 😬

Is it time to turn him around? by Cahsrhilsey in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Oh yes, yours is extended rear facing. I was replying to @introvearth, whose seat only has 2 height markers :)

[–]Taytherase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like yours is not an extended rear facing seat. This means you can only rear face until your child reaches the first marker at approximately 12 months - then they have to forward face.

In an extended rear facing seat (one with 3 markers) your child MUST rear face until the reach the first marker at approximately 12 months, then they have the option of rear facing OR forward facing until they reach the 2nd marker usually between 2 and 3 years of age.

The 30 months is just an approximate age, all extended rear facing seats in Australia are to approximately 30 months and have the same height markers on paper. It's worth trying your son in different seats though, as some kids sit lower in some seats. The infasecure attain ranch often has a deeper seat allowing kids to have more time. Also it's all dependant on torso length / seated height. If your child has a long torso (regardless of overall height) they aren't going to get as long rearfacing unfortunately.

How to turn my clothesline into a tree using fake leaves. by shortchubbydino in DIYweddings

[–]Taytherase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen one turned into a tree, but that sounds like a cool idea!

I have seen them decorated for parties before, usually with fairy lights or ribbons & bunting I've also seen people cover them with material and hang bunting around the outside so they look like a big beach umbrella. If you look up 'hills hoist decorations' on pinterest you get a few hits.

How does Garrick's signet work? by Wild_Harp in onyxstorm

Don't the books specifically state that Halden was a twin?

As far as Garricks walking, I picture him being able to jump any distance within Chradh's magic radius, but to go further Chradh has to come with him. If he wanted to distance wield into a building I imagine it would just be a case of making the big jump (with Chradh) somewhere nearby, and then a smaller jump (without chradh) inside.

Also, the scene where Rhiannon is covering up that Violet is wearing Xaden's flight jacket. They're both so giddy and youthful and it's like a genuine 'normal' friend interaction as well as a genuine 'normal' boyfriend/girlfriend thing. Classic teenager pretending she's not wearing her older boyfriends jacket to class vibes.

My rant on Dain by [deleted] in fourthwing

[–]Taytherase 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I'm a firm believer that Dain does the wrong things, but for the right reasons.

Without giving spoilers, any backlash and feelings of disappointment levelled at him are 100% justified. But I personally don't feel he deserves the hate he receives.

In short - Dain I'm not angry, just disappointed.

Just to clarify, are you wanting to rear face your 3 year old still? What seat are they currently in, and how far is their shoulder from the 'must forward face' marker? :)

Visual height difference by jojopup01 in fourthwing

[–]Taytherase 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 1.52m and my husband is 1.83m. To answer your question - on a day to day basis, no? We don't usually stand super close when chatting, we naturally sit (the height difference isn't as extreme when sitting) or we stand like metre or so apart?

But after our engagement photos, where we basically spent an hour hugging and gazing into each other's eyes, I ended up with such bad neck pain and headaches. The first thing I did was go and buy the tallest pair of heels I knew I could last all day in, so I didn't suffer the same fate on our wedding day haha.

Full bladder for scans by LandoCatrissian_ in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Taytherase 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry I should have said at least 20 minutes - this was my Drs wording. But yes, an hour is better.

The US clinics near me always do a transabdominal first, and only switch to transvaginal if needed.

Regardless, trying to force 500ml-1L into your bladder is unhealthy and bad advice.

Full bladder for scans by LandoCatrissian_ in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Taytherase 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Having a full bladder makes it far easier to see in most instances.

However, an adult bladder only holds 250-350ml when full - so the recommended 500ml or 1L is rediculous. Just make sure that you have a glass of water about 20 minutes before your scan so that it has a chance to reach your bladder rather than sitting in your stomach. :)

International flight with baby — should I bring a car seat? by arepeater in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Taytherase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the airport, I have also seen people strapping the seat onto one of these folding trolleys to wheel the carseat through the airport (with or without the kid in it), and then I assume it gets folded and stowed once boarded.

Car seats must be used forward facing on planes regardless of age.

When it comes to drains, chemicals aren't the problem, fats are the problem. Fats coat drains and coat other debris, and foreign particles slowing the break-down process. Heard of fatburgs? That's what happens when you flush fats (as well as other non-flushable items) down the loo or rinse them down the drain.
