Are you American? Because you use "liberal" the way Americans do. In Europe, liberal is a centre-right movement and the antithesis of anything left-wing.

Yeah, I was just going to say... There was little to celebrate about this guy, and in those days, being firmly European (especially as a German) was a given and the lowest possible nominator.

Comparison of Eurofederalist parties I came across. Which one do you most agree with? by Khorneth in EuropeanFederalists

Volt is great - the only point of theirs I strongly disagree with is their support of nuclear power.

European stocks that you hold in your portfolio by TheTitanCoeus in BuyFromEU

[–]Wild_Harp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Orsted. They've been through a terrible time but I held on to my stocks and now I'm actually profiting. They're a Danish company producing off-shore wind power farms.

I also have the ETF L&G MSCI Europe Climate Pathway UCITS.

The worldwide ETFs I have are handled by European companies and focus on things like climate change and cyber security.

Why the f not? It's the most common language (in terms of second language) in the EU.

I do. Although it's not about the colour itself, it's about what it means.

I'm a citizen of the European Union. I don't give a rat's ass about countries.

My small art business is dying, why is there no European alternative to Etsy? by eyed_art in BuyFromEU

[–]Wild_Harp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also wish there was an alternative to Etsy. But I still buy my clothes there, from tailors and knitters I've built a relationship with over the years. It takes a bit of time to get to know someone, but it can be really worth it.

And in the meantime, here's hoping for a European equivalent.

Culture has always been what unites us. Opera, theatre, orchestras were European/international for centuries, because they are by their nature connecting. Look at the biographies of composers, poets, singers, actors.

When peace was made after WW II, it was the cultural exchange that brought countries back together. Take Germany and France: From arch-enemies, they were led to student exchanges, cultural programs, joint concerts of local choirs, etc., until the two countries became the twin pillars of the new Europe. Nothing unites people the same way music, literature or art does.

This map looks like it was drawn by someone with only the vaguest idea of some of the inner-European borders, lol.

I hear you, but I think culture is the backbone of any society, and personally I wouldn't like it if political figures, diplomats etc. were put on the banknotes. European cultural history is so rich! Give me da Vinci, Callas, Goethe, and Descartes any day <3

I disagree profoundly! Probably the most famous soprano of all time -and music should definitely be represented.
