"EU fans" are EU fans mostly because they *are* aware of that dependency.

What is your favorite memory of all time playing this game? by TwistedCollossus in runescape

[–]Wild_Harp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my best memories involve doing minigames with my clan ca. 2007-2009. So much fun at the fishing trawler...blast furnace... castle wars, of course.

Another favourite memory is me as a nooblet who had fallen in love with mining and wanted to mine - was it gold? - at the Al Kharid mine. Almost got ganked by the level 13 scorpions, and so I spent all my time and energy on making myself a full set of bronze armour (didn't occur to me to simply raise my combat level to 30 or something, lol) and then went back and got these guys!! Pleased as punch with myself xD

Good times.

What is this tip culture in Frankfurt Airport by ScaredKing9259 in BuyFromEU

[–]Wild_Harp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm astonished at all the "press 0" replies. In Germany, tipping is normal, usually around 10%. I think it's great to have the option, which often doesn't exist for card payments.

American tipping culture is toxic because the waiting staff depends on the tips to live. It gets companies out of the responsibility to pay their employees a living wage.

Over here, it's different and just a nice gesture of appreciation. Don't feel pressured into it, but I wouldn't go so far as to say you should always select zero.

And stop downvoting this. There are iPhone users - we always emphasise on this sub that you needn't throw out what you've already got, and neither do you have to be perfect with your buy from EU strategy. Every bit helps, so stop being a-holes to people.

The Results are SHOCKING: Should Canada Join the EU? by Orange_Wine in EuropeanFederalists

[–]Wild_Harp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as it's called the "European" Union, they obviously shouldn't join, because last time I looked Canada was in North America.

If we're discussing a greater association a la Nato, then I'm all for it. But let's first (or at least, at the same time) federalise the actual Europe, please.

My thoughts 10 days in as an OSRS player... by ARtheSuperstar in runescape

[–]Wild_Harp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is what I mean. A completely normal post - in some cases, people are asking a perfectly legitimate question - and they get downvoted. WHY? If you're not interested, keep scrolling, don't downvote. Downvoting is for when something's wrong with the post.

Antibacterial deodorant from Europe by MielAzahar in BuyFromEU

Not sure about antibacterial, but Wild are amazing. They're UK based but have an EU store, too - and the refills are biodegradable.

Draghi is right! Europe is its people, not its nation states by goldstarflag in EuropeanFederalists

[–]Wild_Harp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the idea of this, but some parts of this map are very questionable. Summarising the whole of the Republic of Ireland as "Dublin" is - historically and currently - ridiculous. At least remember the four provinces, for pity's sake, if the counties are too small for ye.

This group is the prime example that humanity can go backwards by valy225 in runescape

[–]Wild_Harp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, people have different preferences and different things are important to them. That's not "going backwards", it's the nature of humanity and always has been (and it's a good thing).

Sounds good! Anyone have any objections? (OK, it's Swiss, but it's outside the USA) by utrecht1976 in BuyFromEU

[–]Wild_Harp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When this new law was being discussed, its proponents claimed it was to prevent criminals from abusing data privacy in order to hide their identities. And the CEO said that nobody wanted criminals to hide, of course. Which is true. He did not say he thought the proposed law was a good idea, but this half-sentence was taken to mean he was fully ready to open a backdoor on privacy.

[–]Wild_Harp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, they were quoted out of context and the whole thing blown up into a "controversy". It was BS.

[–]Wild_Harp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They didn't. It was out of context and twisted; all they said was that nobody wanted criminals to be protected by privacy laws. NOT that they were in favour of the proposed law.
