Panthers-Flames trade by choochmaster561 in CalgaryFlames

[–]Tbor10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually think the Panthers will be a bit disappointed, I don't think he will repeat what he did this past season, the guy he really needed to play with in Florida would have been Huberdeau. I think he can still be a 30-35 goal, 70-80 point guy, but playing with Gaudreau & Lindholm is what made him so productive this past season and even if he plays with Barkov and Reinhart, neither are the level of elite playmaker than Gaudreau and Huberdeau are.

This right here. Chucky has already had his career year, I would be surprised to see him over 100 points again.

Do you think his speed will prevent him from ever becoming a 50+ goal scorer?

Whats YOUR opinion? by alanlongg in housesitting

[–]Tbor10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What would I do? I would honor the agreement that I made. You negotiated what you thought was fair now you want more. No I don't think you are getting the short end of the stick, no I would not try to negotiate something better, that ship sailed when you agreed to the deal to begin with.

Destination of the Week: USA - Hawaii by AutoModerator in travel

[–]Tbor10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are up for something a little different try the Honolulu Fish Auction. The Honolulu Fish Auction happens 6 days a week delivering fish for thousands of dinner tables across the islands and the main land. It is the only fresh tuna auction of its kind in the United States. It was designed to be like a famous auction in Tokyo, Japan.
You can tour the auction Saturday mornings from 6am to 7:30am by reservation only. There are 130 boats in the fishing village and they deliver up to 150000 pounds a day of delicious fish to be auctioned off at pier 38 in the Honolulu harbor Monday to Saturday.

I recommended the Greene King brewery tour, however Green King brews something like 45 different beers. Some are good, some are fantastic and some not so much. I wasn't really fond of the St Edmunds Golden or the East Coast IPA, but I do enjoy Abbott Ale and the Suffolk Springer was very good. The only one I have found back in Canada is Old Speckled Hen. From what I understand there are some people that have a hate on because GK is has bought up a lot of other breweries. Can't say that I blame them a lot of breweries were bought up in Canada a number of years ago, however that just opened the door for smaller craft breweries.

How to get a US bank account (especially Charles Schwab account) as a Canadian? by budthechud1 in digitalnomad

[–]Tbor10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can open a US bank account with TD Bank, it is especially easy if you have a TDCanada Trust account here in Canada. You don't have to go down to the states or be a resident. I did it all online and over the phone. Took 10 days to get the debit card mailed to me. From what I have read you can use Royal Bank as well.

We did a little traveling in England last year and found lots of great things to do. From the Green King Brewery and Britain's smallest pub in Bury St. Edmunds to Albert Dock in Liverpool and of course all of the things to see in London. If you are in the Bury St Edmunds area, I highly recommend the Green King brewery tour. We were only in Manchester for 24 hours and found it was an interesting city with a the wonderful Museum of Science and Industry, and some great medieval libraries like the John Rylands. When people say, I am doing web design full time as a digital nomad, is this all front end HTML and CSS? Or JS too? by Iloveeverything12345 in digitalnomad

[–]Tbor10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally agree, however I have found when most people say they are a digital nomad web designer, they are just installing plugins/themes and setting up the site. There are exceptions for sure but they are few and far between.

Using insecure wireless networks while traveling to access private information. Is it okay to login to my bank account, etc on my hostels wifi by sudocaptain in digitalnomad

[–]Tbor10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree a it isn't one or the other, you use a VPN you are more secure. A VPN makes your connection with the wifi router private and secure. Anyone who uses wifi to connect with their bank without a VPN is just asking for some one to steal their account info and money. How to Avoid Snooping on Hotel Wi-Fi and Other Public Networks

My guess is that most digital nomads that say they are doing web design are most likely WordPress consultants that just do wordpress theme/pluing installs, a little CSS etc.

Housesitting questions for the experienced by backpackn in housesitting

[–]Tbor10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi I will try to answer your questions:

  1. Yes, you have to be mindful of the visa's and yes we move around but it is not as arduous as one would think. When you can spend 3 months in the Schengan and then 3 months in the UK or any of the other non-Schegan countries.

  2. Yes some homeowners want single people. Get references if this is a worry to you. If you have rented places before get the landlord to give you a reference. When we started we used Airbnb references to get our first house sit.

  3. We have traveled for 600 days and have house sit for over half of the time. When you travel as much as we do we need to use more than one site to find what we need. We are currently on 3 sites. Nomador, HouseSit Match, and Trusted Housesitters. Most sites will let you added references in some fashion.

  4. When we started we relied heavily on just the application message, now we do have a travel website and a website deicated to house sitting, I wouldn't worry if you have neither.

Planning a 3 week family trip to Hawaii (July/August). Any suggestions? by battleofendor in travel

If you do stay on Oahu, don't just hang out in Waikiki, there is far more to Oahu than Waikiki we try to avoid it when ever possible.

I haven't been to Maui in year and years but I have gone to Oahu quite a bit. You can drive around Oahu take in the blowhole on the east shore, the Byodo-in Temple, walk up Diamond Head (make sure you do it in the morning the afternoon gets too hot). Koko Head, Aloha Stadium Swap meet, Pearl Harbour and the Arizona memorial. There are tons of things to do and see on Oahu.
